SapphireTiger 0
It's hard work. Gambling. Playing poker. don't let anyone tell you different. Think about what it's like sitting at a poker table with people whose only goal is to cut your throat, take your money, and leave you out back talking to yourself about what went wrong inside. That probably sounds harsh. But that's the way it is at the poker table. if you don't believe me, then you're the lamb that's going off to the slaughter." - Stu Unger

SapphireTiger 0
Poker HistoryLas Vegas legend has it that the idea of the World Series of Poker came about froma challenge issued in the summer of 1949 when gambler Nick "The Greek" Dandolos persuaded Benny Binion to arrange a high-stakes marathon with "the best poker player." Binion set up a match between Dandolos and Johnny Moss, with the stipulation that the games be played entirely in public view. For five months they played every poker game in town, with each player taking breaks only for sleep. Moss finished on top, winning an estimated $2 million. In 1970, Binion attempted to re-create the excitement with what he christened the World Series of Poker by inviting theworld's top poker players to participate. Strangely enough, the first WSOP was decided by popular vote, with the crowd favorite, Johnny Moss, rewarded the prize money.it DOES sound a lot like Daniel's new open challenge. SapphireTiger 0
A day late! sorryPoker Variation: Mexican StudIn this version of five-card stud, the first two cards are dealt to each player facedown. Players lok at their cards and select one to be placed faceup. The concealed card is then wild for each player. After a round of betting, another card is dealt around facedown. Each player then decides which of the two concealed cards to turn faceup, and which to keep in his hand for a wild card. Another round of betting follows. Teh process continues until each player has four cards exposed and one wild card concealed. This card is wild only for the player who holds it; also wild for that player are all otehr cards of the same rank as the concealed card. After the final round of betting, all players still in the game show their concealed cards and announce the value of their hands.
