Flopn Nutz 0
Ive been playing cards for about 3 years and have just started taking it serious in 2007. Ive kept up with a spread sheet of my profit and hours played. I live in VA so have nothing but home games. I play a 1/2NL cash game with a 10% to $5 rake as well as $1 from every pot to a high hand bonus and your expected to tip the dealer, play $60 to $100 MTT's and occationally make it to AC for cash games. The average buy in is about $150 but I buy in for $200-$300 every time. Im up $6,100 this year with a $33 an hour average and am profitable 72% of the time. I have NEVER gone broke in a session (lost money, but never busto). Most of the players are really bad but some play very well. How does this compare most people?

Seems strange I know but its never happened. Ive cashed with only like $25-$50 but never been felted... in cash games anyway, of course Ive not cashed in tournaments. And no offense, but I seriously doubt that if you play regularly (at least once a week) that you've never lost a buy-in EVER in the live game all year. That would be 25ish straight winning sessions if you played once a week. Just sayin'.....GL though.
Flushgarden 0
I read this and wonder what would be a useful response? So why reply? Why not let it slip right out of your head and move on to something else? Now that you've replied you have to spend more of your time checking back in on this useless thread and possibly replying again.
Flopn Nutz 0
Its by no means a brag post. I want to know if $33 an hour in 1/2 game is average or above average play. Am I beating the game to its fullest? Is is possible with the rake to be making much more? Should I be playing 2/5? I dont see how anyone can look at a post about a 1/2 game and call it bragging. If anything I feel humbled that I play so low. I play atleast twice a week and have NEVER lost a buy in. I have always added on when Ive gotten low.

I"m not saying you're not a good player or anything, but to run 6+ months without ever losing a buy-in, let alone multiple, is quite rare, IMO. Your numbers obviously look great now, but I'd suggest to wait until your sample size is a bit larger. Continued success though.

I know that it can happen and at some point probably will. The only thing I can say about never losing a buy in is that #1 I always buy in for the max IF someone else has, and #2 I add on if I get under $100 so it makes it hard for anyone at the table to be able to bust me. The only time I have been serverely out stacked is in AC but I there I play very tight and have run well.

psujohn 0
I add on if I get under $100Maybe quibbling but I (and I think most here) would say you lost a buy-in if you bought for $200, got down to $100, added $100 and got down to $100 again. At that point you're down a buy-in even though you still have chips in front of you.Sounds like you found a nice soft local underground game. If your results continue there and you continue to win at the casino 1/2 and you have a reasonable bankroll I don't see why you wouldn't be able to try a 2/5 game. Though I'd be reluctant to play a local/underground game at those stakes unless you're sure it's an honest game.

Ive never walked out of a game losing a full buy in. I may have added but never lost more then my original buy in. The games I play, like 4 different choices, are VERY honest. Ive never seen anything shaddy go down. There are a few 2/5 games and one 5/10 game but I have heard some pretty crazy things. One getting robbed, one with a "bad" deck, one that rakes uncalled bets, one that takes 10% up the size of the pot, ect. I am only going to play 2/5 from here on out in AC though. Have a room booked the end of July.

If this is a game that's widely known about, keep an eye for the fuzz to come busting through the door and confiscate everything.
DunkinDonuts 0
Its by no means a brag post. I want to know if $33 an hour in 1/2 game is average or above average play.I'll level with you. $33/hour at a $1/2 game is right around average. At any given 10-handed table, assuming no players leave and no new players enter the game, you can expect each player to walk away with around $33/hour. The only sucker who really loses is the house, because the poker room has to dish out some hefty subsidies on the off-chance that a zero-sum game could conceivably lead to a scenario where $33/hour is the "average" haul. Sunny 0
After starting a new limit this past week I went over 2,000 hands without dropping a buyin. Based around 30hands/hr live that's like 68hrs of live play without losing a buyin. Not sure how your # of hours matches up but it'll happen eventually.. like it has for me.
