He could have been playing on credit with sammy.
Doesnt that mean he CAN get money in Vegas.Obv if he was staked then its a different story, but if he had credit then getting money isnt a problem right...

We all do the same thing.....just at different stakes. We play a 1-2 PLO game and at the end of the night we will play high card for between $20 and $100 a card. It is usually the person stuck the most that wants to partake in this. :club:
True and point well taken, Guapo. But your post makes me realize the effect poker has had on me. I used to enjoy that stuff, but I guess now I'm more of a poker player than a gambler. I play because I enjoy the challenge and strategy of it--and because that play has some type of consequence. I don't have near the interest in "gambling" (ala regular casino games) that I once had because I see the -EV of those games better, especially since (at least in theory) I have the ability to create a +EV in poker (full disclosure: I'm + online, + a lot more in my home games, and - a little in live tourneys, though I've only played in 5--so overall I'm pretty much even since I picked the game up).I mean I understand the jokey stuff is OK once in awhile (especially if you're trying to throw a bone to an obv bad poker player by giving him a 50/50 so maybe he'll win and come back again for more beatings), but it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. And if I were Sbrugby (which I'll never be, surely), I too would've walked away feeling pretty damn good about my comeback...too good (with too many hours and skill invested) to piss it all away on a flip.

He can get it, but maybe not as quickly as he wants.

June 7, 2007 Exhausted Sammy and I played for around 12 hours today. I texted a couple brief messages to Zimba who helps runs things around CR. I wanted to clarify what he mentioned. I ended up 50K for the entire match against Sammy, which is a very good result since at one point I was down ~700K on the day and 1.2 million overall. I mounted a very serious comeback which is quite satisfying. On the last hand, Sammy wanted to "run it" in Omaha for 100K each. This is where each player is dealt 4 cards, which you don't look at, then the flop is dealt. The first person to act then turns one card up. The next player has to beat the card the first turned up. This continues till one person is drawing dead or all four cards are exposed. I said no initially but he said two times he would put up 105K vs my 100K. I agreed and we spilt the two hands which netted me 5K. Then he took all the money he had in front of him, 470K, and said lets flip you only have to put up 450K. I thought a bit and would have accepted if I could easily get more money to Vegas to replace the loss, but I couldn't so I declined.
But...but...this bet is +EV. He'll take all of the money Sammy Farha has in the long run~!!!!!!!11111one How could he not do it? Won't somebody PLEASE think about the long run!!!!!1111111oneeleven

According to Taylor Caby, Brian had/has 100% of himself:"brian does have 100% of himself for all the people who are asking. they are going to play today and probably all week. brian is going to be in town as long as sammy will be here."

From the cardrunners admin:Brian's blog says that he is up 50k from the two matches. Latest I heard is they will go at it again today. I'll post more when I know more.Day three of the Sammy vs. Brian HU matchup continues at 1:30 pm Pacific today. The stakes will remain the same. Other sessions are planned at this point. We tried to get a reporter in to give additional details, but they wouldn't allow it. I'll post any text messages I get from Brian.

Can a HU match go on in a Vegas casino? I thought Daniel had said that he would have joined in against Andy Beal and the Corporation if he had the roll to use his own money. Aren't all games open to anyone willing to put down the money?

I think they are open to all. I would imagine only a small group of people would even consider joining though, maybe Antonius or benjamine. I think alot of the other top pros would want more games in the mix to even up any edge these 2 have over them in these games.

Even if they are open to all, if someone who has the $$ to play in that game came along and they wanted to play HU, they could either ask that person if they would not mind sitting it out, or just quit and then start back up when that person leaves. But at that high of stakes, anyone that would play them would respect the fact that they are playing HU.BTW the casinos can do what they want, they could set up a private table and charge $1000 and hour for them for rent of the table and dealer....

Zimba is reporting "live" in Brian's blog:"2 pm - Brian is off to a quick start and up 200k in the first 30 minutes. 2:55 pm - Brian continuing his good play and up 370k. 3:30 pm - Brian up 500k. 3:35 pm - Brian up 600k. 4:05 pm - Brian up 760k, Sammy has bust through what he brought and more, Sammy is considering getting more to continue play, but clearly frustrated."

I like sammy and think he is a fun character to watch on tv especially HSP, but I think this win by SB has got to be a little more satisfying since Sammy told him on National TV that he did not belong in that game. (Meaning playing live and at those stakes)

Did Sammy really say that on HSP? I guess I missed it. I would guess that he was saying that to tilt SB.

He said it when SB was staring at him, commenting about how he didn't belong there, insinuating that he should stay online, and then Eli told sammy to back off in not so many words.

I have heard from several sources now that sammy has "endless funds", can some one clarify his background? is he a super dude or something? or just a very successful gambler?
I would like to know this as well. Anyone? Anyone?

He said after he took off his sunglasses "buddy you better stick to the internet you dont belong here" but he was refering to the fact he was staring him down not his skill or ability. He goes on to say that people in love dont look as much.It is 22mins 10 seconds into episode 7 season 3 of high stakes poker (someone else can link)

I did not say it was because of his skill, that is how I remember it, but it was still pretty brutal when you take into context the stage that it was on.

I really thought I noticed someone else sitting at the table with them this afternoon when I glanced over...but maybe not.

Yeah, they aren't playing HU anymore. Benyamine, Baldwin and a couple of others are playing too...

No they cant. Nevada gaming law states that ANY player who has the minimum buy in cannot be told they cant play. If you have the money, you can sit, and they must let you play.

Eldiablo on twoplustwo said that most of his money comes from various investments and that he's got a bankroll of $45m. Not sure how much truth there is to that statement, but oh well.
