"Also on the list is Rev. Greg Hogan, who has often spoken out about online gambling after his 19-year-old son robbed a bank during his sophomore year in college. The boy said he robbed the bank to pay for his online gambling habit, a story that was picked up and circulated around the nation."Don't you love it how just because some assclowns son went and robbed a bank to support his on-line gambling habit, that this guy is going to argue that none of us should have that right? ****in' idiot. God damn I hate the self-righteous pricks that our government lets influence them. This shouldn't even be an issue.

It's the same crap that went on after columbine, where everyone blamed media for the shootings. These testimonies just show the most extreme worst case scenario someone can think of, and rarely get anything going in the direction they expect. Just because some kid robbed a bank to play poker/gamble online does not mean the general population is doing it, it's just a rare extreme. Moreover, if anything, it will make congress more willing to regulate the industry so that they can control whether underage gamblers have access to it.

it just seems that if the govt got their share of the pie, a lot of this would be a non issue, but since the govt doesn't get anything from this cash cow, they're happy to ban it

If this gets regulated, they get money. They're happy with it then.

Online poker hearingThe most dramatic supporter for Frank's HR 2046 bill was added during the Financial Services Committee Hearing last Friday when Indiana representative Julia Carson announced her switch away from the UIGEA, when no one could answer her question why Indiana gamblers could bet on the Kentucky Derby (horseracing) online but not other forms of Internet gambling. Reports from the hearing were that the witnesses and the committee members sat in stunned silence waiting for anyone to answer, "...but all that came was a feeble mumble from someone on the panel that it should be legal." Minutes later, Carson repeated her question and once again received no answer. She then declared her support for Frank's bill and said she had been mistaken last year in voting for the UIGEA.
