supertouch 0
Guy is bush league, plain and simple. Which is a shame because he could go down as one of the most talented offensive players ever. Too bad.

I don't understand why that is even news. I was referring to his play on Wednesday agaisnt the Blue Jays when he yelled something, "Hah" or "I got it" when the Blue Jay 3rd basemen was fielding a pop up. As well as his other bush plays he has made in the past.I don't understand why that makes this thread ridiculous but ok.

supertouch 0
Come on man, it's completely bush league. Should the Blue Jay player still have caught the ball, absolutely. But still, that is the kind of thing little kids do in little league games and the coach pulls them to the side and tells them that it isn't how you play the game.Win games by playing baseball, not by yelling at your opponents. aadams_22 3
The Yankees are tied for last place in the AL East with the Devil Rays...yes I said the Devil Rays, their roster has been depleted by injuries, the team is playing like absolute shit, and A-Rod yelling "I got it" as he's running the bases is what's on everyone's mind...fantastic. This is the epitome of the dissension that New Yorkers have towards A-Rod. If this were someone other than A-Rod then this wouldn't be as big of a deal that it is. A-Rod should be commended for doing something to help his team win and for lighting a fire under their ass...but no they have to blame A-Rod for the team not performing because everyone knows that A-Rod is the entire team. I mean A-Rod is the reason that everyone is injured, A-Rod is the reason that Cano went 0-4, A-Rod is the reason that Igawa is in the minors, A-Rod is the reason that Posada is old, A-Rod is the reason that Sheffield is in Detroit, A-Rod is the reason that.....you get the point. Give me a break, the last person that New Yorkers should be hounding right now is A-Rod. The man is doing everything he can to help the Yankees win and he is forced to take the blame for everything. He is only human and not the whole team. He is batting .292 with 19 home runs and 45 RBI's at the end of May. I can name 29 other teams that would be perfectly happy with that kind of production out of their third baseman.

I just think some of things he does on the field are bush league moves. Any player that does that stuff is bush, I don't care if it's A-rod or Miguel Cairo.

The rulebook states that you cannot hinder an opponent when he is attempting to field a ball.
aadams_22 3
Posada should have been called out because Rodriguez broke the rules. The rulebook states that you cannot hinder an opponent when he is attempting to field a ball.True, but what is meant by hindering is open to interpretation. I have heard many a person yell "I got it" when first and third basemen are trying to field foul ball at the wall during an MLB game. Thus the players should be used to this, and most of all, know what their teammates' voices sound like. As long as he wasn't physically hindering the fielder from catching the ball I don't see a problem with it, nor do I see how that is breaking the rules.

If what A-Rod did wasn't a deliberate attempt to hinder or confuse the fielder than they may as well remove the rule from the rulebook.
rgold79 0
It's just gamesmanship. C'mon, ever see how runners strategically place themselves to block a fielder's view of a groundball until the last possible second? These guys are supposed to be professionals. If Jeter does this he's a gritty competitor. This is only news because it's A-Rod.

Doesn't stop you from being right though. Rodriguez is playing typically fantastic, and the Yankees are still in last place.

Standing in front of a fielder is different because if the runner were to get hit with the ball, he is out. The runner is taking a risk. If Jeter does it, it is still a bush move. To me Jeter doesn't seem to be that type of player. A-rod is chippy, look at the slide he made against the Mets when he popped up and elbowed Reyes. Jeter doesn't do that kind of stuff. TMoneyBags 0
According to former major leaguers, this kind of **** goes on all the time. The only reason that this is an issue is because a) the Jays 3B blew it, and more importantly b ) its A-Rod. If I were a Jays fan, I'd be more worried about your 3B than the Yankees. TMoneyBags 0
I was listening to the radio last night and I believe it was Orestes Destrade, and i believe that Dusty Baker said something along those lines too. Not that I am a fan of either of these guys, but I believe them on this issue, or rather, non-issue.

aadams_22 3
TmoneyBags right, it was said on Thursday's episode of Baseball Tonight on ESPN. On that note, I also heard the same thing on all three major shows on XM's baseball station. "Baseball This Morning" with Mark Patrick & Buck Martinez, "The Baseball Beat" with Charley Steiner, and "The Show" with Kevin Kennedy and Rob Dibble, all said the same thing...that this type of stuff goes on all the time, players should know the voices of their own teammates, and that it's only getting the publicity it has because it's A-Rod. Also, digitalmonkey if you want sources, then listen to the radio and watch ESPN.
