leafs71 0
Ok I know most of the topics in here are on poker but I had a rough one last night. I'm betting 5 MLB games, if I get all 5 games correct, I win $120. The cost of the wager was only $10. So I have Blue Jays over the Yanks. Marlins over the Cubs, Baltimore over KC, Pittsburgh over San Diego and finally SF over the Mets. Now near the end of the games I look to be in good shape the only game I have to worry about is NYM-SF. They go to extra innings tied at 3. The Giants manage to scratch out a run in the top of the 12 to take a 4-3 lead.(I'm cheering my brains out at this point) Then the Giants bring in Armando Benitez. Jose Reyes leads off for the Mets and gets on 1st. Then Benitez BALKS and sends him to second. (I'm starting to worry at this point) a ground ball out pushes Reyes to 3rd and forces the SF infield to play in tight. The Mets then hit a sharp grounder to secong where the Giants pick it up force Reyes back to 3rd and throw the batter out. 2 out runner on 3rd. I'm still alive. That is until Benitez BALKS AGAIN and sends the tying run in!! I know what your thinking it's still tied right. Wrong on the next pitch Carlos Delgado hits a home run and the Mets win 5-4 and I lose my $120. TWO Balks in the SAME INNING!!! Sorry but if that's not as bad as runner runner I don't know what is. Thanks just had to get that off my chest!
GetSprung 0
I still can't believe they let Benitez come into a game trying to save it. Didn't they learn that he just can't save games anymore? Maybe if you put him in with a 6 run lead he'll pitch fine, but a one run lead is never safe.
yourboygsarida 0
I still can't believe they let Benitez come into a gamethere is a reason we giants fans have started to call him explodo. watching him come in takes years off my life

Actuary 3
Ok I know most of the topics in here are on poker but I had a rough one last night. So?There's a reason most posts here relate to POKER.We do have a General Sports forum though, for the real degenerates
givalitl 0
Yeah baseball parlays are not +ev, definitely not 5 team ones. Baseball is the most volatile sport there is; the worst team in the league will beat the best team a decent percentage of the time and there are so many "middle-of-the-pack'ers" it's just not a good bet.Regarding the balks, that was one of the biggest/ugliest blowups I've ever seen. Give some credit to Reyes though, he was really getting to him (obviously). Then just capping it all off with the ****-pictch to Delgado for the walk-off home run was great. Normally I do reasonably well I'm up since the season started probably about $375 but that debacle last night was tough to take. not really a Giants fan, (I can't STAND Bonds) and after last night I may never bet on them again. Thanks.

Poppy_Hillis 11
Ya that game was pretty bad, reminds me of the time in 2005 Kirk Hinrich (who happened to be my lab partner in a class in college no less) hit a half court shot at the buzzer when the Bulls were down 4 and getting 2.5. The bet combined with other bets that week would have completed a $600 run to $24K.

GetSprung 0
Hahahahahahahaha.Unfair...there was a time when his blown saves did NOT outnumber his saves. I was never saying he was amazing, only that he wasn't expected to blow games before he got on the mound. Although Mets fans probably think otherwise.
leafs71 0
You did not lose $120.yes your right I only lost the initial $10 bet. It just FELT like I lost the $120.

He was an All-Star on the Marlins. Seriously, look it up, guy had a tremendous season for us. Then he goes back to a real market and he is back to being crap. Personally, I am waiting for A-Rod to realize he has the same issues, sign with his hometown Marlins, and hit .360, 60Hrs, 140Rbis.
timwakefield 68
Why would you take the Giants over the Mets in NY? I know that Lyceeceeecmen (or whatever) was pitching, but the Mets are a much better team.
