  1. So the FCHL trade deadline has come and gone and after the dust has settled I looked at the total INs and OUTs for my BlackDevilHawks.

    IN:

Evgeni Malkin (restricted free agent after this year)

T.J.Oshie (signed for one more year at only $2

Matt Niskanen (free agent after this year)

    OUT:

Mike Richards (traded, sucks and a free agent)

    Chris Kreider (traded, farm)

    Scott Laughton (traded, farm)

    Matt Hunwick (released)

    Zac Dalpe (released)

    2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks

I'm happy with the overall outcome. My team is better and I still have a 1st and 3rd round picks. Currently sitting in the 5th seed with the 4th highest point total. 8 points from 1st and 8 points clear of missing the playoffs.

  2. They dominated most of the 3rd game too. SJ got two flukey floater/deflection goals, including the OT.

I didn't see SJ even have a realistic chance to win in the games I watched after that.

LA did this last post season too. Just flipped a switch and dominated.

Lost to Chicago 4-1. LA is streaky.

  3. I'm really looking forward to the second round. BOS-MTL is a great rivalry, ANA-LA is a good one that keeps getting better and CHI-MIN used to be a great rivalry back in the day when the WIld were the North Stars.

  4. I'm not saying the coach being axed is Ovechkin's fault, but you said you don't know what else he can do. Get better defensively is what he can do. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I get to watch Toews and Hossa play a very solid defensive and offensive game when both could use the excuse of being a "goal scorer" and getting a free pass.

  5. Don't know what else Ovechkin has to do. It's not his fault the rest of the team was crap.

I know the +/- stat is not a great measuring stick, but he was a -35! With his size, speed, stick handling ability there is no way he should be that bad.

  6. Zach the stats geek! Love the charts.

I wish I was watching more of this series, because the few moments I have seen, I really think something is off with Crosby+Malkin. Not healthy.....tired from a long year.....something else, I dont know. Im not sure Im going to start putting it all on Dubinsky either, he's good, but he's not THAT good.

Maybe if I had watched more, I would be more likely to argue this point, but Ive seen too little to know.

Also, I cant stop laughing every time someone says what a great Def job J.Johnson is doing, and how he's a shutdown D. lolol. No, he really really isn't.

Of course Sidney Crosby is tired, when was the last night time he same even close to playing this many games in one season? Plus Olympics!

Kind of you of course, but no time to waste on the boring departure of a last-place team. I would've waited if I thought it would take away from your victory lap! It's a time for celebration!

Losing me isn't like losing a limb. Limbs do things, they're useful and a part of you. Losing me is like losing the league's... appendix or your tonsils or something else that is mostly just there and doesn't effect things much except to flare up into a giant hassle occasionally : )

Not true Danny, if you did a blind taste test of your franchise and mine, 9/10 people would choose yours with all of those picks. You should of sold your franchise. ;)

  8. TBH I was starting to give up on Tartar - he was one year away from a forced callup/release in the FCHL. Thankfully he's shown that he's the real deal.

Same with Carl Soderberg, I had to call him up this year and thankfully he came over and is playing well.

The issue isn't any deadline, it's that the rules state he was automatically called up prior to the auction, we just missed it. Mistake on my part, probably ignorance on Mike's.

The next issue to tackle is that Mike, in turn, ended up with players in the auction that he shouldn't have, because he would have had $2.00 fewer dollars to spend had Yakupov not been overlooked. I tried to figure out how to address that initially last night, and John pitched a hundred ideas, but it was too messy and relatively inconsequential to attack it from that angle. Mike will end up having to clear $1.50 (he has $0.50 open already), so he does lose a player from the auction, or two, anyways.

I think I should get a couple bucks off for ovechkin since he was bidding against me :)
