400 Plo8, Top Set Of Aces With Low And Straight Possible
Wintermute replied to akishore's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
You were wrong about all that other crap you wrote. Potting nut low on the river w/ no high even after a blocking bet is abc PLO8 for anyone who is even a decent player.btw you can use this fact to your advantage when you have a nut 2-way hand in this spot -

I think the lack of understanding displayed in your first paragraph sheds some light on the second paragraph. -

Hm, I disagree with the blocking bet thing. IMO, it's obvious that someone is sitting on a nut low and waiting to check-raise you out of the hand on the turn. If not that, and you only get called on the turn, then the guy is still liable to bet the pot on the end with only a NL anyway if he doesn't get c-feited if he's worth jackshit at PLO8. It's just a tough hand to play, but I think the line you took is optimal--raise flop, check turn behind, and fold to a bet if you don't fill up. -
What is up with these *****-*** bets on the flop and turn? You should be betting the maximum on each street, you have a monster. As played, of course you're calling the river. Jesus Christ.

Oh yeah. Yeah I shouldn't have even been playing that game, I was multitabling with 1k/2k over on FT. The session actually turned out pretty well somehow

The reason why heads up collusion is so effective is that nobody believes it's possible. And I, for one, don't mind keeping it that way...

Hahaha, me at my most dominant. when were you railbirding? doesn't surprise me that I can't remember this

I have no idea what you're saying here, but I'm thinking specifically of players with whom I've exchanged alias online, then they change their alias and don't inform me. Truth be told, I don't feel that strongly about the issue. But as for advocating frequent screenname changes, I remember saying that this is one way to deal with negative psychological consequences of a prolonged losing streak (where you might feel other players can "see through" your cards). However, these days I personally find that keeping the same screenname is actually more beneficial, because everyone fears me (correc

Either you're very stupid or disingenuous---no way would somebody be unable to figure out that "chubby_ballz" is a conspicuous pseudonym for "fat_nutz".For the record, my alias on Stars is fat_nutz, and my alias on FullTilt is HakAllah. Also for the record, I think that people who post on strategy forums but refuse to reveal their screenames at the sites are huge douches.

You're a 2:1 dog to a set and about a coinflip with top two (actually it's worse, 3:2, if he has top & bottom). Only hands like JJ8T w/ a couple clubs are strong enough to have you down 3:1. Meanwhile, you're going to get called by all sorts of dickheads with str draws that are a 2:1 dog to you and other random ****. And a lot of the time you're going to pick up a decent-sized pot with a just pair of deuces, not bad.More importantly, you want to be following up PFR's with pot-sized flop bets as much as is reasonably possible so that you don't have to try to get clever when you truly wan

Make no mistake, I don't advocate going all in from a strategy standpoint. It's obviously -EV.However, if you're trying to have a good time and torture nits and the money doesn't matter to you at all, that's a different story...

Of course you can't call, jesus christ. Not at this level, anyway, bunch of goddam nits below 5/10

I think jackingoffsuit was being clever or something, I am still fat_nutz.You guys have too much time on your hands. Also, hitting that one-outer was sweet.

You are a FU.CKING idiot.

Interesting Hand From Ftops Plo8 Event
Wintermute replied to checkymcfold's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
I agree with this to the extent that you can't only raise with A2 or AA, but raising OOP with KQJ9 is taking it a bit far IMO--the biggest danger is rev impl odds from making a K-high str or wrap to a K-high when your opponent has broadway or a B-way wrap. Examples, flop QTx, or KTx: they look good, but aren't when OOP. I think the hand has much more raising value in late position. As for postflop, a line I like is to check(-call if necessary) the flop, and then lead the turn. If the flop checks through, villain may interpret a fast lead at the pot on the turn as an attempt to represent a -
Standard--you could call on the flop to disguise and lay for a turn raise, but I don't see much of a difference between the two lines in minbet O8.To rwood, this is definitely playable PF. Only hands like JJA2 and KKQJ are dominating this hand--its the perfect hand to play against something like A29T or A2TJ, even AAxx has a tough time playing against JJQK postflop in the hands of a reasonable player. If you're genuinely worried about playing JJQK vs. A2xx then something is fundamentally wrong with your understanding of O8... JJQK v. say A234 is never a problem, because you're getting away pos

This would work much better with A289 on a 37T board, since the 8 would give you some emergency backup low in the event of a counterfeit (even better A278 on a 369 board). Given that it's a tourney and you'd probably want to pick up some chips or quit early, I would make the same play; but it's pretty iffy.

I doubt this is any good on any street, because at this level I wouldn't expect your opponents to be making thin and aggressive lunges at the pot, especially with 5 people. If it were 50/100+ and you were 4-handed or less with a maniac or two then I'd say it's standard. So, basically depends on whether you can make some pretty extreme reads regarding your opponents' playing styles.

1k Plo8 Hand #1: Tptk + Nld + Cp, Push Heads-up Deep-stacked
Wintermute replied to akishore's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
I'd push.BTW, 55 PTBB is not deepstacked. If you had 100 PTBB's behind like your opponent I'd advocate playing more cautiously. -
if you push enough preflop, you will get called here fairly often--definitely often enough to make pushing PF the right play

Flopping The Nuts Is Not Always A Good Thing
Wintermute replied to predator06's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
I guess it probably depends how you normally play in other situations... if you're frequently raising less than the pot, then I would admit it might make sense to raise less than the pot here to disguise the strength of your hand. However, if you are potting virtually all the time (I am more inclined to take that route, but it's not the only/best way to go) then raising less than the pot just screams strength. Also, I think if you're going to get called for $100 less than a PSB here then you'll get called for the full PSB too.Anyway, the flop is not that critical, it's the turn that I was ma -

Why not raise the max on the flop if you're going to c/r? Also, make up your mind on your action before you act on the turn. If you're going to put another dime into the pot, then lead, don't check-call. Check-calling is definitely bad because you're giving up on the fold equity you have those times when he only has broadway and you can pick up the pot with a bet---I don't see this guy showing up there with total air (which is the only reason you'd want to c/c... to induce a bluff). If you think he has AA/JJ/AT/JT, then check and fold to his bet.
