His range for capping UTG pre-flop has to be pretty narrow but this obvioulsy depends on the player. I'd say his range is AA, KK, AK, QQ, possibly JJ and AQs. Given his post flop play I'm pretty sure that he has either Aces or AK and can't put them down so wants a cheap showdown. Bet every street. I don't think that he has Kings as I'd have expected a raise on the flop / turn, jacks/queens are extremely unlikely given the flop / our hand.

i'm asking this as seriously as possible

When will Lori cash? -
Cap the turn and river. They'll have AJ / 44/ flush many, many more times than they have 5 6 , J7, or quad jacks. By calling, you're missing an important value bet here. I actually like your initial call on the river, this would likely encourage an overcall by the third player; however, when he raises, you have to cap.

I find that small pocket pair have little value in 6 max, especially in EP where you were. I'd raise on the button / SB if folded to me; or raise if folded to SB who completed if I was in BB. Otherwise, just call if two or more limpers. I'd fold utg, utg+ 1, CO.In this hand I bet the turn. The turn gives you OESD also.

At party there is no way to see the % seeing the flop stat right?I play 0.5 - $1, six max at party where the 'standard' buy in is $25. Therfore, I look for a table of probable 'losers' with stacks less than $25. I prefer sitting with 3 or 4 players rather than 5 others. An ideal distribution would be stacks of $22, $18, $12, $8 etc. 'Losers' who have plenty left still to give away. Does anyone else take this line. I actually think that table selection is incredibly important in me being a 'winning ' player. If I sit at a table, and don't like it I leave after sometimes 1 lap to find a better o

I think you misunderstood what I suggested. I did not say check call, that is horrible. I said check-raise if it's checked behind and then bet by the button. Check fold if its bet and then either called or raised by the button. If this is the case then I think that it is too costly to draw to 2 outs (neither of which may be good). If its bet, called or bet, raised do you really think that tour queens are still good?

I think that you played it perfectly. As an aside, I'd have looked for another table. One player has a stack of $204, another $64. These are big stacks for a $1-$2 game and suggest 'winning' players.I play $0.5 - $1, 6 max at party where the 'recomended' buy-in is $25. I hunt for a table with every stack below $25, suggesting that they are 'losing players. An ideal distribution would be $21, $18, $12 and $9 or something similar. I think that table selection is very important is being a winning player.

Check, call. I can't think of a hand that would call a bet that you can beat. However, some hands that you can beat would bet the river when checked to. Checking may induce a high card bluff.I think that he has a pair of nines.

I could never fold that hand, he'd play it the same with AK.

The river is an easy check fold UI, IMO.The turn is the problem in the hand. Pot is 3.75 BB on the turn. In this hand though it's difficult to determin how many outs you have to win the whole pot. If you hit a jack, you may lose to a straight, if a king comes you may split the pot. Unimproved, your jacks may lose to trip nines or Queens. Lets assume that you have 8 outs from 11 outs that are apparant (Kings, Jacks and eights) that win the pot for you. Therefore, if you check the turn and villan bets you're not getting the correct odds to call. Pot odds are 4.75: 1, compared to 5.75:1 to hit

I don't like to bet right out. Check, and see if it's bet / called, bet/raised behind you. If it is I think that you can fold.If it's checked by the LP then bet by the button you could check raise the button? This would be cheaper (1BB) than betting the flop, getting called then betting the turn (1.5 BB)? If you're called, then just give up unless you hit a miracle queen on the turn. He may even fold KQ, KJ or AT to you in this spot.

I doubt he has the flush, he called in EP. What 2 spades could he have UTG+2, given that the A, Q are on the board and the J in your hand, K T , K 9 T 9 ? This depends on your read of him, and how loose / tight he has played. However, given that I don't put him on the flush I find his flop play strange in that he didn't raise to protect his hand.

About 33 players left out of 51, im a below average stack, but feel confident as I believe Im one of the better players at my table. They pay the top 9, 6.5k for 1st down to about £380 for 9th.

I played in a live tournament yesterday, 5k starting chips, 45 min levels, £350 ($600 entry).Level 3 blinds 100-200:2 EP players limped, MP player with a shortstack who had just lost a big pot went all in for 1200.I was in the SB and found kings. My stack was approx 4k. EP1 has 7k, EP2 4k. Do I call and hope to get re-raised by EP limpers or re-raise to try to get the pot heads up against the all in player?

I played in a live tournament yesterday, 5k starting chips, 45 min clock. £350 buy in ($600).Table was very loose, playing trash hands IMO and so I was waiting for a big hand to trap. Towards the end of level 1, blinds 25-50 it was folded to me in the cut-off (unusual) and the blinds were actually two of the tighter players at the table. I had KTo. I raised to 200. SB called, BB folded.Flop: TJQ rainbow. SB checked, I thought that this was a good flop to make a continuation bet on, but given my draw should I have checked? I bet 300 and was called. Turn: 8SB checked, I bet 500 and was raised

the venerable t.j. cloutier: his canadian side

I expect to get flamed for this but after reading his championship no limit hold'em book I cannot believe that he uses this srategy given the success that he has achieved. The strategy that he advocates in the book is incredibly basic, i.e. don't draw, don't make continuation bets, semi-bluffs etc, play only premium hands. Anyone, playing this strategy would be very easy to read and push off pots when they didnt hit. -
hahahahaI was drinking whilst I read that. My monitor is now sprayed with squash. Thanks.

rather win wsop main event or $50k horse event?
AshleyC replied to AshleyC's topic in General Poker Forum
I think that the HORSE event will have the toughest field of all time, allbeit a much smaller one. The prize will probably be 'just' $1.5-$2m compared to $8m or so for the main event, however, I believe that winning the HORSE event will prove you'd be able to make it as a middle stakes pro as a winning player. As history has shown that event if you win the main event you may not be able to make it as a winning player at medium stakes. Poker is about the long-term so I'd go for the HORSE event. Also I believe that you'd earn alot of credit from the top pro's and so in course get sponsorship fr -
What would you rather win:$10k WSOP Main Event $50k WSOP H.O.R.S.E Event

Forwarder showed 56 for a straight.

Villan showed AK to take the pot. I agree with the advice, and his pattern suggested AK or TT .

Get Ivey in the game, he wouldn't blink at the stakes. The ice in his veins may melt and allow the blood to flow for once.
