At 6 max, how do you play medium pairs from the blinds after there's been a couple of limpers? Do you rasise for value and to take the lead, or check considering the fact that you'll have to play the hand out of position and will often see overcards flop. I tend to just check, is this too passive? Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cxPreflop: Hero is BB with 8:club:, 8:diamond:. Initially I thought it was far too passive to be check calling all the way, but the more I've thought about it, the more I like it. It's the best way to lose the least to the hands that are beating you, but gets the most out of the hands that you are beating. Check calling induces the villan to try to shake you off.

Should I 3 bet the turn and then bet the river when checked to? I've recently read SS's O8 section and had a low limit session to dip my feet. I've posted a few hands below that are probably pretty standard. I've just noticed this stat in pokertracker. What is your % of winning sessions at 6 max limit? This is what I mainly play and I've recently had what has seemed like a 3k hand downswing. My win rate is currently 3.5BB/hr at 10k hands. My average session lasts 0.85 hours but I only win 61.4% of them. I was quite suprised by this. I think that this illustrates just how swingy 6 max is.I understand that this stat is almost irrelevant and that the bottom line is what matters in the long run and that this stat may be different for different players depending on liability to tilt etc. Some players o

How should I have played the below hand? I was in the SB and flopped 2 pair on an all diamond flop. The turn came a blank, my play? By the turn I felt that if I were to make a substantial bet compared to the size of the pot then I would be pot comitted whatever came on the river. - IhQd44 sitting in seat 1 with $39.33 [Dealer]- wondlof sitting in seat 2 with $9.85- haggis5 sitting in seat 3 with $8.46- 9f6a2y0e sitting in seat 4 with $12.80- alanst0100 sitting in seat 5 with $3.85- The_Limey sitting in seat 6 with $9.75- Rebuts sitting in seat 7 with $11.82- mark2109 sitting in seat 8 with $5.

You shouldn't ever have more than 5% of your bankroll on the table at one time. With that in mind, I think that you'd need 20 buy ins. The key to NL is agression and so you really do need to be adequately bankrolled so that you can feel comfortable pushing all in with big drawing hands. If you are playing too high for your bankroll you may find it difficult making the 'correct' play.
-
I'm moving into NL cash games after having previously played tournaments. Generally would you re-re-raise with Queens. Im just thinking that in this example the flop may have saved me from going bust. If 3 rags had flopped then it would have been difficult to get away from my hand. Maybe not in this example as his limp re-raise suggested a monster but against a typical re-raiser it must be hard to lay down queens on a rag rainbow flop.
-
Definitely push on the flop. I think that you may have hesitated tp push due to the fact that you were playing higher than your usual game. This shows how you need to be fully bankrolled for the game you're playing in. The stakes shouldn't effect the 'right' play. You should have no qualms about getting your money in with 14 outs (if he has you beat) and putting the decision on your opponent for all HIS chips. You may have fewer than 14 outs if he has 2 pair as some outs may make him a full house though.

Harrington on Holdem has been such a hit with poker players and rightly so, however, one efect it has had is that some players use the continuation bet far too often. If I notice a player doing it too much, you can abuse it by simply smooth calling their flop bet and then betting the turn if they check it. Having position on a player who does this can be very profitable. Against one opponent if you make a continuation bet of 1/2 the pot then assuming you lose all hands that are called, it is + EV if your opponent folds more than 1/3 of the time.

I mainly play $0.50 - $1 limit at party 6 max. I have a buddy list of players that I feel play badly. Does anyone else want to exchange buddy lists of players that they 'like' playing with at party at this limit. I played a tournament last night and was faced with some quite difficult decisions in a short perdiod of time. It's tough trying to work out the correct play at the table when playing live. I think that I made the correct decisons and am happy with them despite what the outcomes were. 70 player NLHE tournament. #1 17 left I have approx 20k, average stack is 15k. Blinds 600-1200, a short stack calls 1200. It's then folded to me in BB, I check with T :icon_suit_spade: 7 :icon_suit_spade: . Flop comes 2 :icon_suit_spade: 4 :icon_suit_club: 8 :icon_suit_club:. In the latest cardplayer magazine Joe Sebok has written an article Climbing That Mountain:(http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/archives/showarticle.php?a_id=15291). I actually felt that he was slightly wrong in a section of the article as he was miscounting the likely outs we have. He welcomed feedback at the end of the article, so I sent him the following email to which he responded. They're below for interest:Hi Joe, I enjoy reading you blog and the articles that you write. I appreciate that you welcome views when your readers believe you are off base. With that in mind I decided to giv

How do Party steps SnG's work? Can you use your 'win' to play a higher tourney or cash out at any time? Are they satelites with top 1 progressing or are top3 awared equally or structured prizes etc?I've heard a lot about them recently, are they worth playing or are standard SnGs better value?
