Syous,Remember that you generally want to raise when you have the best hand in LHE. You should have raised every bet in this hand.

This is sooo not rocks and rings.

OK guys, I've been playing strictly NLHE the last few weeks so I am rusty on the percentages here (like I ever knew them). Why does nobody want to raise this turn? It doesn't accomplish anything? It certainly accomplishes something in getting value if you think you're good here. Plus there are 2 flush draws and a somewhat straight-threatened board. One of the donks could have a 3, 77, 88, or the solid mp2 could have AA. How often are we realistically not good here?
-
I don't think there's one right answer here. You could do it either way. I personally like to bet this because a lot of low-limit players will chase with 3rd NFD or whatever and put you on AK. But you could certainly make an argument for letting others catch up.

Bet a little bit more, approx. 1/2-2/3 of the pot, on the turn to signal strength. You don't want him thinking you're bluffing. The purpose of the turn bet, which is a must, is to find out if you're beat or not right then and there. If he calls, you know you're in trouble and must c/f river.

Of course this is solid. What's the specific question at hand?

Qq In A Big Preflop Pot
ICrushHomeGames replied to Naismith's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
I say go with your gut here. This could be AA, and it could be AK. It depends on the skill level and style of your opponent. If you think he'd re-raise with AA-KK, and most 1/2 NLers would here, go with your gut and push. -
I think you have to bet this turn to find out where you're at.
-
C/c down. You can't predict that 9 on the turn.

Looks perfect

What's the big deal here? Easy 3-bet vs hyper-aggressive.

Best Way To Play Against A Maniac..

Call. If he's been playing a lot of hands and pushing them hard, there's no telling what he could have. You're only behind 2 hands. Plus, you've already invested 40% of your stack. Easy call. -

That gay river bet could mean that he flopped the straight and he wants you to raise at the sign of his weakness. Or he could have 77 and be hoping that you'll make a scared call and he'll see a cheap showdown. Even a huge donk wouldn't check that turn with a set, but he could, could, do it with 77 or JJ. I like your river call because he may be some idiot trying to make you think he's weak after flopping a straight or filling up on the river with that undersized bet. -
Ring-game Pre-flop Decision
ICrushHomeGames replied to 7notrump's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
With 2:1, you want to call as long as he doesn't have an overpair or have your J or T dominated. So if you call you're hoping to be a 3:2 dog, 6:5 dog, or in a race. But there's too good of a chance you're in a really bad spot when there's a push with 5 others in the pot. Fold. -
Can I Value Bet Here?

Definitely bet the river and call a standard raise. -

By playing this game on the flop you're no better than him. Just kidding. May we assume villain is very aggressive? -
You could play this turn either way. I think that the way you played it is better, but you could c/c turn. He could certainly hang himself by value bet/pricing himself in with AJ. If he checks, he's probably on a FD or has you crushed, in which case you're going broke. QQ, TT, 99, and 88 may all bet behind a check. If he hits his flush or OESD, he's broke. It's safe enough to assume that (a) he has something, and (B) you're ahead, so let him catch up. But you should charge him for the turn as if you don't want him to make his flush or OESD. If he misses, he's not calling anyway.

I like to play LHE for a few weeks, then NLHE for a few weeks. I like to keep 'em separate because the mentality required for each game is so different. Jennifer Harman says on that gay FSN Poker with the Pros that NLHE is more of an art, and LHE is more of a science. But I really understand what she's saying. For example, one big problem I have when going from LHE to NLHE is forgetting loosen up a bit. A lot of top players say that their best game is whether they've been playing a lot of recently. I think that's because different games, especially limit vs. no limit, require different m

Attack Of The Min-betters!
ICrushHomeGames replied to nickforgot's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Yeah, some want their stats to look better. And some also think that if their opponent has given up on their hand and already hit the check/fold button, then they win the pot by risking the minimum. But it's always a sign of weakness. Err, unless you get into level 2 thinking and so forth. Ugh, I'm dizzy. -
Raising On The Come
ICrushHomeGames replied to SuperJon's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Some of this depends on how strong of a hand you're drawing to. If you're drawing to the nuts, then you'd be more inclined to keep them in the pot, but if you're drawing to a more marginal hand, you'd be more inclined ot bet them out of the pot. -
great read, sweet pot, nh

4th Nuts - Flush...interesting Hand
ICrushHomeGames replied to rusmac31's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Wait, Villain has Jh3h? You mean Hero, right? Please clean up your post, i.e. if villain raises to $7, say "villain raises to $7" instead of "villain raises $7," something completely different. Why did you raise UTG with J3? And don't say because they were sooted -
You can extract more than $5 out of him. Bet $10-$12, about half the pot at least. You have to bet more than 20% of the pot.
