This is close to right. But X should not be an A or 2. So it should be 24*44 = 1056And A2XX is not quite right. To truly be A2XX....XX should not have an A or 2 in it.so 16 combinations of A2for XX we have 44*43/2! = 946 combinationsThis yields 16*946 = 15,136 combinations of A2XXTotal hand combinations is 52*51*50*59/4! = 270,725So a naked A2, or A2XX should happen about 5.59% of the time.AA2 or A22 each will happen 1056/270,725 = 0.390% or 1 in 256 eachAAA2 or A222 each will happen 16/270,725AA22 will happen 36/270,725So the overall cominations that have A2 in them are 15,136 + 2*1056 +

I think you have to raise here...as much as you can that won't make him fold. Because you want the opponent to obviously call and you want the opportunity to jam as much of your stack in by the river that you'll think he'll call. Would this guy back down to resistance or stupid enough to pay you off? I would probably raise to at least $60 total here (maybe pot) and hope he calls. Then bet at least $100 on the river regardless of what shows. With ZERO chance for the flush....the odds of you getting quartered by a boat + nut low is tiny. I have only pulled off such a scoop or 3/4thing a

God he played that horribly...he's probably dead to a runner-runner royal. Of course he nailed it...lol

This system is much better suited for limit O/8 in my opinion. I don't strictly follow it...but my hand selection in limit O/8 usually falls in line with theirs.

Dude, Wimbledon comes on ass early in the morning if you're out west. And who was in last year's final anyway? Now if some american made it....the rating would be a 5 at least. Although it's interesting to see that poker is in the ballpark of other sports' telecasts.Edit: maybe it wouldnt be a 5....venus vs. serena only got a 4 this yearhttp://www.usatoday.com/sports/tennis/wimb...s-ratings_x.htm -
is this even close to being the right play?
Vman96 replied to puma12's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
This sums it up quite nicely. Depends on what you want to happen. But personally I probably would have raised it up a few bucks and not pot it. This has the chance to pay off pretty good if you hit right.I wonder what "beast" iccguru folded...hehe -
In a lot of states it is.Illinois it's 1% for all food.

how to get the most out of this situation? nov 7th
Vman96 replied to Raindog's topic in Daniel on Strategy
Here I probably would make a modest raise on the flop and apply a lot more pressure on the turn if a high card hits. You do want to keep people in to an extent drawing to half the pot. You have everyone crushed for high unless someone has 88.It also depends on your table...if your table is stupid enough to call a pot bet with just an 8 or a low draw....by all means pot it. -
You need to use "Hand Grabber" (available from the PT website) to get hands from Pacific Poker.

limit omaha question (may be donkish)
Vman96 replied to ....Ian....'s topic in Other Poker Cash Games
Well, if we keep it simple and villain only has a single flush or a single boat draw....he's roughly 3 to 1 to win. And your other opponent has the straight without a redraw. If you 3-bet and your opponent with the straight caps:75% of the time you will win 1 unit from the guy with the draw as he will fold the river and you guys split his two units you collected on the turn.25% of the time you will lose 3 units (if you call villain's river bet and the other guy with the straight isn't an idiot). With this scenario, you are completely EV neutral:(0.75)(+1) + (0.25)(-3) = 0However, either of your -
at what point should i have folded? lhe
Vman96 replied to Breaking Liberty's topic in No Limit Texas Hold'em Cash Games
Not a great result, but not impossible either. Standard deviations at the 1000 hand level should range from 45 to 60 BBs. If your winrate is 30BB/1000 hands, then a -2SD session could knock you down to -72BBs. -2SD sessions should happen once every 40 sessions or so. -
I agree, let him bet it for you. If he ended up catching 2 pair or better....thats bad luck.

I tried to explain this problem to my g/f and we got into an argument about it....trying to explain this problem to people who suck at math is pointless.Switch people! lol

I have a bad feeling one of the villains holds QJ at this point....but at least Wintermute still has up to 13 outs. I don't think I would have been the aggressor with that card showing up though....what else would they be drawing to? (other than a weaker flush)
-
I would be a lot more comfortable calling if you held A23x....an A or 2 doesn't give you the nut low anymore. It's a marginal play here at best.
-
With this many people in the pot, nothing wrong with a fold here. You're outkicked to anyone who has a 4, and EP1 is screaming he has at least A2 and if either of them have 45....well, you're completely screwed.
-
I got rolled up aces for the first time ever this weekend. But I ended up heads up against the bring-in. Thank god he got trip 2s on 6th street. 8) And I have definitely played a lot less than 5525 hands of stud...so I'm happy about that. :-)
-
Folding seems alright here. AQ is quite possible.
-
Post flop play is okay. Are you on the button here? In general, I'm not too keen on playing this for $1.50 preflop, but if you're OTB it's not as bad.
-
This is the correct answer.also it may be determined by:(4/52)*(3/51)*(2/50) = 1/55255525/13 = 425So the probability of getting ANY rolled up trips in stud is 1 in 425.

simple hand, turn bet with draws, multiway
Vman96 replied to akishore's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
That sounds about right. What happened akishore? Was this at pacific again? lol -
Yeah...pacific usually has a 0.05/0.10 table going, and usually a 0.25/0.50 table going. After having a bad SnG run there...I tossed my last $5 onto a 0.25/0.50 O8 table there...with some initial luck....and some good solid play...I've grinded that to over $1000 in about 8 months there by mostly playing Omaha and O/8. I usually play 2/4 there now.
