OK, but I don't know...Phil vs. Harry in all forms of hold'em? I mean no offense Phil has accomplished light years more than Harry all in hold'em.Is Harry a dominate cash player or something that I don't know??I would take Phil in an all holdem series...

the doyle brunson standing ovation phenomenon
mark33f replied to nbliss16's topic in General Poker Forum
Doyle Brunson getting a standing ovation every time he gets knocked out of a tournament is exactly what he deserves. -
And before anyone asks...yes he is a better all around player than me but I very much doubt he can outplay me at NL, Pot or Limit holdem and welcome sitting down at the same table as him as I consider taking chips off him to be a relatively easy task.NL, Pot or Limit Holdem are his main games? How can he be better overall and inferior in these games? And I am sorry for sounding rude here because I respect you Harry, but yeah whatever Phil may be he doesn't talk behind people's back.

Earned his way? You don't think all that whining, crying, questioning of spelling ablities, dodging of bullets, dark checking, meditating, teeth brushing, camera hoarding, losing because of bad luck and to Annie Duke heads up for two million was for nothing!!

I am truly baffled...how did Hoyt qualify?
-
Phil Hellmuth and Hoyt Corkins anyone?

I don't know about Harry because I saw his post after the fact...But if Daniel has such a keen sense of right from wrong, how did he think it was right take a player's spot last year? And to say the least, he doesn't have the most morally perfect record.
-
But it wasn't like "who plays the most circuit events and doesn't make any money gets to play in the freeroll"..These players have already made a return on their investment. Any money won in an additional free roll is extra. I mean if Harrah's can't put who they want in their freeroll then there just shouldn't be one and then everyone gets no shot at any additional money...I just don't see the big deal...and that's just my opinion on it...

I wouldn't say they were liars because that seems to harsh.Personally, I don't know them or can believe every word the say.Say Daniel was invited...Daniel has the "ethics" to not play when he didn't qualify this year yet last year he had the "ethics" to take someone else's spot in the TOC by "pulling some strings".I really don't know but who would turn down a two million dollar free roll when you were asked to play, especially considering the size of the field...It would really shock me, that's all I can say...
-
and those rules didn't include adding some of the best tourney players in the worldSo why didn't they just not play in the TOC? They probably didn't play in the circuit event just to qualify for the tournament of champions...Even if they did, it would be stupid to assume that all amateurs would qualify...If they had a problem with three top tournament players being added, then don't play and take no shot at a FREE MILLION.Maybe it's just me...I don't know...but in my opinion getting a free shot at one million dollars out of only 120 or less players is a good deal even if there is a bunch of t

hey mark, long time no see..how ya been?Good, thanks...new job took up a lot more time and a move and some other unfortunate personal events... just posted for the first time in about two months yesterday...I will try to poke my head in from time to time but a lot busier nowadaysGlad to see someone remembers me

But that doesn't give Phil credit for his NHUPC win or represent the fact that Daniel has played more events...But it isn't fair to compare Daniel to Phil really...Also, by that logic Daniel wouldn't be in the "Top 60" which is kind of funny....But But...In the end they are both really top top top tournament players IMO.
-
I will agree with this...It is their tournament, their FREE money so they can do what they want.
-
Yeah, I find that hard to believe..."I wasn't invited to the party but I wouldn't have gone even if I was..."
-
I agree...I don't think people would say that Daniel is out of the "Top 60, 50, 40 or whatever" after his WSOP or year for that matter nor is he.
-
Although many people don't want to see Helmuth make the money, due to the way he got inI don't think it is fair to Phil to bash him (not that you really are) for playing in this. Though he didn't qualify, who is going to turn down a two million dollar freeroll because they didn't "technically qualify". It is a mishap by Harrah's management and if Doyle, Chan or Phil win/cash, nothing should be taken away from them. The heads up match would be hilarious t.v.!!Go Phil!

Brian ( Michigan): will you ever play Daniel over at the Wynn heads up? Phil Hellmuth: (3:24 PM ET ) The Wynn started slowly so far. But would I play him heads up? Yes. At the stakes he wants to play? No. But you have to give respect where respect is due. Give him credit. If I'm not going to play some internet players heads up at UltimateBet, doesn't seem like it would be very smart for me to play Daniel heads up. Great players play great players because of ego.

I said this months ago that more moderation was needed and I am glad it is finally coming around...Custom and KDawg should be obvious choices...around here most of the time (no offense), well respected players and opinions, Custom has moderation experience....Need I say more ?

If FCP had a stereotypical post, this would be it.
