  1. Not only Perry - _Any_ of the Tilt Boys. I know that would intimidate me. :-) Patrickmy horse busted Andy Bloch in the 50k on saturday i get half that tshirt!!LOL, wear that sleeve with pride. :-)I would love to get one of the shirts they give out at the Bay 101 Shooting Stars event when you bust a pro. I heard a story a while back where one of the pros (can't remember who) paid an amateur player like $2k for the shirt because it said 'I busted Phil Helmuth'. Classic. :-)Patrick
  2. Actually, Perry wants a piece of DN in speed tic-tac-toe...It's the rest of the Tilt Boys who are looking for a little HU roshambo action. :-)Patrick
  3. When did this happen?(sw)I'm not sure what is more asinine: People thinking anything the obviously delusional 'Kevin' has to say exemplifies RGP as a whole, or people from a player's moderated, fan-site forum taking shots at anyone's creditability.Roy Cooke posted a very interesting thread the other day in regards to cheating in today's poker world on RGP. Since we are led to believe that RGP has no creditability, should we discount anything Roy (CardPlayer Magazine, and by all accounts a very honest and upstanding guy) has to say because he posted this on RGP? Matt Savage, who is THE tourn
  4. Yeah, not the same person... I cover the final tables for the PP Quarter Million Guarantee and the UB 250k Guarantee on Sundays for pokertrails.com; HoytCorkins5 finished 2nd a few weeks back in the PP tournament, and won a little over 36k. That is why he has the money to play in that high of a buy in.Patrick
  5. Ha, yeah it's amazing all the 'dirt' you can learn on people on rec.gambling.poker. A lot of it is BS, but that was one ugly incident that seems to be true. I wouldn't idolize a poker player either, but I could see someone younger doing it. When I was a kid growing up I idolized different baseball players because I was a baseball player. If some 12 year old kid gets obsessed with poker, then I could see him wanting to be like Daniel (a good thing I'm sure), or being like Helmuth (a good thing away from the tables, a bad thing if he emulates his rants). Poker is sort of shielded from the w
  6. I agree completely. You could make quite a long list of 'name' poker players with some very questionable actions in their past. Given the nature of the game, that shouldn't be too surprising though. There is a quote in one of the articles I posted above that is a good example of this:Among old-style gamblers, a bank robbery conviction was another sign of a man of experience. As Willie Sutton once said, "That's where the money is." And it's hard for a fellow whose life is dedicated to taking a shot at a pot of money to be too judgmental of a man who upped the ante. Seems almost noble when yo
  7. Here's an interesting read too. I had heard something about him making anti-semetic remarks, but I didn't know it was on the radio.http://pokerworks.com/peopleinpoker/people...marilloslim.htm
  8. No, I've heard great things about the book. Here's an article I found with a quick google search on the subject. I think there is a more in depth article on Amarilo local news web site, but I'm too lazy to register. From what I've read in the past on the subject, supposedly the drop to a misdemeanor was at the request of the victim's mother, who is Slim's daughter. The DA was not happy at all as you can read. Read below.Patrick------------Legendary poker player "Amarillo Slim" pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts in a child molestation case today. Amarillo Slim...whose real name is Th
  9. Most enjoyable poker book by a child molester, or just most enjoyable in general? :-)Slim belongs in jail and it's sickening that people still look up to the guy after what he did. He was a great (still is I'm sure) poker player, but what he did should overshadow anything he accomplished in poker. Patrick
  10. both Wrto and I are posters at 2+2 and I'll definetly say it is well worth the time to not only check it out but to reg there. Post your hands in the strat sections according to what limit you play. micros go up to 1/2, small stakes start at 2/4, and mid to high stakes start at 10/20. The posters are very knowledgeable and give really great advice, just be sure to use the hand sonverter when you post a hand as they don't want to spend the time to go through a HH(can't blame them when you see all of the hands that get posted in a day). So that's my advice, as I feel that I have a better grasp o
  11. Erudis -Yes, I agree that group X would probably have a higher percentage of winning players. The ability to discuss a hand, or hear another's perspective on how you played a hand, is invaluable.I wasn't disagreeing with that point at all; that's why I asked if you were talking about this forum specifically. As far as people claiming to be winners, that is a tricky subject. It's human nature for people to forget about their losses, and to remember the wins; we all do it at some time or another. That's why it is extremely important to keep detailed records of your poker playing. I have a not
  12. Go into google groups, get into rec.gambling.poker. There is a 'Search within this group' or something similar box. You can try searching by their real names, but you are going to get a ton of useless junk back....It's easier if you know someone's ID/email address (search for kidpoker for example, and you'll get all of DN's old posts since that was his old email), but even if you just put 'Fossilman' or 'Sklansky', then sort by date, you should be able to find a post by them if you look at the older stuff. Once you find someone, you can use the 'find all messages by author' function which m
  13. Yeah, I agree; age isn't that much of an issue. I meant it more as a general statement because all you have to do is look at any major tournament's final table to see that young players are making their presence felt. I'm sure that the benefits of online play in regards to gaining experience have been discussed here before, but there is no doubt that you can make up for lack of age by the sheer amount of hands you can play online in comparison to a B&M. Heh, 'Doogie Howser of Poker'..Who's his buddy Max then? :-) Ever seen 'Harold and Kumar go to White Castle' ? The NPH scenes in that
  14. If you are talking about this forum specifically, then sorry to burst your bubble, but I severely doubt it. The fact that it is attached to a fan site makes it even more likely to attract new players/people who have seen DN on TV.There are dozens of poker forums available online these days, with many being far more established then this particular one. While I understand your point that a poker player who spent time studying the game as well as playing it would most likely be a better player, that would be just as true (more actually) on RGP, 2+2, or any of the other long standing poker grou
  15. To get a feel for how the other pros look at Ivey, check out Barry Greenstein's web site. Here's his 'scouting report' on Ivey. I'm pretty sure he doesn't rate anyone higher then a 9 in 'Tournaments'.Phil Ivey Aggressiveness: 8Looseness: 8Short-handed: 9Limit: 8No-limit: 7Tournaments: 9Side games: 8Steam control: 7Against weak players: 8Against strong players: 8Best game: Seven-card studWeakness: Now focuses on cash games, not tournaments.I think he’s the best tournament player in the world. He’s the only player to graduate from the tournament field and be successful at the biggest game. So
