Your real mistake was assuming that I'm actually over 18 and don't actually live in my mom's basement. -
Moonrise Kingdom

Yeah, this movie was amazing. And you're wrong about the ear piercing scene. If you can't show an honest, realistic moment between people, then what's the point of movies? -
The Newsroom

I mean, the real problem with the show is that the plot is really, really uninteresting. Can anyone really even articulate what is it? The one girl likes that one guy, but they don't do anything about it. The owner of the network is vaguely angry at Jeff Daniels. But no one really seems to care that much. So, instead, everything is filled in with an awkward game of t-ball where the writers setup the most obvious situation and then the characters swoop in and explain how they're right about everything. So, no plot really and lazy writing. That's somewhat bad.But the real issues is that the -

I still don't see why the Ducks would ever trade Ryan? What would they have to (realistically) get back for that to make sense? How often does a team get a young, relatively cheap and super talented forward? Isn't that what you rebuild FOR? -

Should we be concerned that an article written in 2012 only covers the periods between 2007 and 2009, which were, to say the least, no ordinary times? It's also entirely unclear to me what the effect of a person losing a job would have on this study and the chart. If you're fired, do you go to the first quantile, or are you eliminated from the chart entirely (because you're not longer a wage earner)? It's a somewhat important point for a study that covers a time period when the main source of wealth change came through layoffs. Also, I don't even understand the chart on face value. Are the da

It's not THAT funny. He's asking because a lot of the weapons that are used in the drug cartel violence come from the United States, and it would be easier to control that violence if we didn't allow people to buy AK47's, etc.Of course, a lot of the violence could also be solved by putting the cartels out of business using better drug policies, but that's a different issue.

The difference being that praying for the dead isn't an attempt to actually bring them back to life.

You're all sick bastards, you son-of-a-bitch. -
I don't know what this says about me, but it took me a long time to realize that you were actually talking about the person and not simply repeating an exclamation.

Yeah, we finally did it. It's been a pretty intense week, and I'm happy that the world (if only superficially) appears to be excited about the discovery. The group that I work with ended up having a pretty major role in the discovery, so that's exciting too :)Maybe I'll make a longer post giving some details, but I'm also happy to answer any questions. ...No, of course not, now kindly give me the geo-coordinates of your house, thanks. What in life isn't a puzzle piece that creates more questions?

Hey guys, look, BG is starting to realize why an individual mandate was necessary. -

You're just not correct. They WERE part of the oral arguments:Page 3:http://www.supremeco...-398-Monday.pdfFirst, Congress directed that the section 5000A penalty shall be assessed and collected in the same manner as taxes. Second, Congress provided that penalties are included in taxes for assessment purposes. And, third, the section 5000A penalty bears the key indicia of a tax.And it being a tax WAS in the original law. The penalty to be paid goes to the IRS:http://www.businessw...acare-phases-in2014:—Almost everyone required to be covered by either private or government-run insurance or pa -

This line is pretty misleading, no:The ACA’s key provision now amounts to an invitation to buy insurance, rather than an order to do so, with a not-very-big tax penalty for going without. The word "now" just isn't correct, the Supreme Court decision didn't change anything, that's always what it was. They just pointed it out. -

The argument made by the court is pretty obvious, no? The "mandate" simply removes a tax credit. Obamacare is just a new tax loophole, so of course it's constitutional. That should have been the solicitor general's primary argument, since it's clearly correct. -
How can you first say, "It's just a matter of effectiveness" and then dismiss the banana comment as irrelevant. Banana's are a matter of effectiveness, too.Unless you think that more lax gun control would have immediately turned families of European Jews into armed-to-the-teeth Marines, then I emphatically question the effectiveness of a mildly armed Jewish family in the face of the Blitzkrieg. But, as others have said, this is the silliest argument both for or against gun control ever. Which was another benefit of the banana comment: silliness. It works on so many levels!

The Official Obama Scorecard Thread

As I understand it, their argument is that the requested papers would reveal information about current agents working in Mexico. They're not denying that the program happened. -
I also think it's somewhat funny that this argument is essentially: "The Nazis came in with guns and killed lots of Jews but if the Jews had more guns they would killed less Jews therefore guns are good."Also, you guys are aware of the Luftwaffe, right?
-
I also think that if Jews ate more bananas, they could have left banana peels all over their houses that the Nazis would have slipped over. Some of them may have fallen and gotten hurt. Are you seriously saying that a house without banana peels is less well defended than a house with one?

I don't want to get TOO much into this, but I would argue that I'm doing the following.Others argued "If X then Y", or "X implies Y"I'm saying, "If (X implies Y), then Z". That was what I said out loud. The implication was that I was also saying "Not Z, therefor not (X implies Y)".X = Entity can fell painY = Cannot Harm entityZ = Cannot kill and eat animals
