  1. Probably the best thing for a new player to understand is bankroll management. There are a ton of posts on FCP that have some really good advice on this topic, so I suggest using the search function to find them. If you're a new player and using poker for mostly entertainment, basically my advice is not to get in a game that is over your head. Play where you feel comfortable with the stakes and limits so that you can play properly without fear of losing.
  2. What do you consider to be a straight draw? You are right if you consider three out of five cards to be straight draw, but usually a straight draw is four out of the five cards.
  3. I think you're only getting a pocket pair to set about 1 out of 160 hands (since you are pushing preflop with Aces and Kings, so we are only counting 2's through queen's). You are also assuming that you are able to limp in every time for the value of the big blind. If you are going to fold when the pot is raised preflop, the amount of sets that you see goes way down. If you are going to pay a reasonable raise (3 or 4 big blinds), then you need to consider those losses when you miss your set on the flop.
  4. According to my math on smash's system, I find that it is only possible to make money in the long run when you are being called a huge percentage of the time (close to 70%) by large stacks (about 60 big blinds). I was bored and made a spreadsheet, and found that the success of the system is extremely volatile. If you’re in the right game with the above conditions, you can expect to make between 5 and 10 big blinds out of 100, but if you aren’t being called much more than half of the time, you are probably going to lose in the long run. Of course, my math could be wrong. If anyone else has
  5. I'm currently getting infinite miles to the gallon in my electric car, just like everyone else in the world... oh wait, no, I'm still running my car on liquefied dinosaurs that have been sucked out of the earth. Oh well...
  6. I think the best way to go about the whole issue is just not to say anything. If bad player allowed you to catch one of your outs by not betting enough to deny you proper odds to call and thinks that you unjustly sucked out on him, explaining how you were mathematically sound to call most likely won't mean anything to him. If you do indeed make a mistake by believing you have odds due to a bad read on an opponent's hand and do end up getting lucky after a bad call, saying something to defend your actions will only make your opponent more angry most of the time. Best bet is to just keep quie
