  1. If Daniel personally apologizes to me in his blog I would consider coming back to FCP
  2. brief, but complete answer:the structure of WSOP player of the year is horrible. But it was designed to make sure that the winner is actually a solid poker pro. If they awarded points using a tiered system, based upon number of entries and cost of entering the tournament, the main event donkament would be given too much weight. No one would take the WSOP POY seriously if someone like Jerry Yang won. But after Phil Ivey's run this year I predict that they revise the criteria for POY before 2010.gmanshade
  3. If I were trying to explain to someone what it looks like when a poker site dies I would take them to FCP.gl to all. it has been fun at times. gmanshade
  4. If this is the play he makes at the WSOP main event with reporters around, imagine what he does in a cash game or a $1k or $2k buyin tournament
  5. Noah KnowsOn a flop of {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}, the action was checked to Noah Boeken, who fired out 100,000. Pham raised to 575,000, a middle position player got out of the way, and Boeken called. The {5-Hearts} came on the turn and Pham moved all in for 1.6 million. Boeken went into a long tank."I know you have two nines. I should have folded on the flop," Boeken bemoaned. After a few more minutes of thought, Boeken showed {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and folded. Pham showed the {9-Clubs}... then the {9-Hearts}.Boeken is down to 1.68 million while Pham is up to 2.8 million.
  6. the only thing I like about FCP is gmanshade
  7. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police confirmed Wednesday that ex-NFL star Steve McNair's 20-year-old girlfriend killed him before turning the gun on herself. They said they may never know what was going through Sahel Kazemi's mind when she shot McNair in his condominium early Saturday, but interviews with friends led detectives to conclude she was becoming increasingly distraught over events in her life, including financial problems. Police said she also suspected McNair was seeing another woman.Police earlier had labeled McNair's death a homicide, but awaited further tests and investigation before s
  8. In terms on name recognition on FCP, the top five has to include me, Daniel Negreanu, and PrtyPsux. But this does not mean that the site could not go on without me.
  9. All I will say is that it is possible I have more WSOP bracelets than Daniel.
  10. I am the lifeblood of FCP. And if you knew my identity you would almost certainly not say this.
  11. As my signature indicates the man knows his business.
  12. This is an unremarkable non-descript condominium. Yes, this would be a nice place for many people to live. For a multi-millionaire NFL star like Mcnair this is by no means somewhere that he would spend any time at all--except that is served his purposes well: he could bring a girl there. Someone should post a pic of his actual residence so we can see the difference.
  13. Your speculation is definitely more valuable than the eyewitness report of someone that visited the neighborhood.
  14. Can you confirm that this neighborhood is by no means somewhere he would live full-time?
  15. cliff notes for you: daniel was trying to make money without understanding the financial landscape of poker. now he has given up everything he once believed in to be rewarded in a meager fashion.
  16. I am a flawed individual like anyone else. I am sorry that my post upset you. I would guess that in some way you identify with Daniel's decisions and that is why you are treating this topic so personally. I have no idea. My purpose on FCP is to try to educate, amuse, and entertain. If you find my posts boring, wrong, unfunny, or mean-spirited then don't feel the need to respond. The last thing that I want to do is make things more difficult for anyone on here.
  17. I have to agree. In the year 2009 if I were going to learn NL holdem cash I would turn to an online star (Durrrrr, Justin Bonomo, Shannon Shorr). If I were going to learn NL tournament I would turn to Hellmuth or one of the young live and online stars. If I wanted to learn how to gamble hundreds of thousands of dollars on golf as a below-average golfer, make poor financial decisions, and berate fans who offer you intelligent advice for free I would contact Daniel.
  18. A couple of points:1) If Daniel disagrees with me I doubt that he would respond to my original thread with a tirade in which he calls me "stupid." I sent him numerous PM messages and have documented exchanges in threads where I offered him valuable advice. 2) You notice that no pro poker player has been successful in building a site from the ground up with just their name attached. Daniel tried to do this, you are absolutely right, but he tried to do it without branding or corporatizing his name. He openly laughed at Hellmuth. And it turns out Negreanu was dead wrong.3) I do not in any way int
  19. Mark, this is so obviously true that the only reason I can imagine that people do not acknowledge it is because of their gmanshade-hating. Yes, Daniel had an agent. Yes, Daniel was interested in being well known (WSOP and WPT exposure). And yes, he was extremely interested in major endorsements like Pepsi. But no, he did not realize that signing with a poker site, starting a training site, and branding himself within the poker world was necessary. He looked at Phil Hellmuth as a weaker player who needed these endorsements because he wasn't good enough to make it on poker skills alone. It turns
  20. I'm not sure what to say to you. I don't care at all about winning money from you. If you can present any rational reason that Daniel would wait until 2008 to sign with Pokerstars I will give you $500. If you find the thread where Daniel and I had a conversation about the marketing of his poker career, and it is different than the way I described it, I will give you the same amount of money. Otherwise good luck to you sir, and enjoy your life. I can't really understand why you would be so aggressively pursuing this issue.
  21. The philosopher Walter Benjamin has an essay about gambling in his "The Arcades Project." In this essay he says that gambling "makes a narcotic out of time." What Benjamin means by this is that for the gambler the passing of time is transformed into a drug to be consumed in the present moment, and the activity of gambling is about the erasure of a sense of past and future. Benjamin had an extraordinary amount of insight into the human condition. One consequence of this particular insight about gambling is that the people who do this for a living--professional gamblers--do not exercise a proper
  22. I think Tom McEvoy is a good possibility.
