I went through this about a month ago. I had to make a large withdrawal from my bankroll and then immediately following that I went on a terrible run of cards.I ended up moving down to $50nl and was still getting beat heavily. I saw myself playing terrible raising with hands I know I shouldn't but utterly believed at the time I was doing everything right.I had moved from $500nl to $50nl, and a lot of the things that worked at $500nl just didn't stand a chance at $50nl.Had to cut the number of tables that I play way down and then force myself to play ABC poker, pocket pairs and big face cards,

Who's More Interesting Pool Or Poker Players?
DDiabolical replied to NicksDad1970's topic in General Poker Forum
It's just an addiction to felt. Most people can live out their entire lives without even realising that they suffer from said addiction.Sadly, organisations set up to deal with this addiction receive little to no government funding, despite frequently lobbying attempts from various addiction organisations in the past few years. -
My Most Exciting Hand In Months......

Ah I didn't actually look at the suits, I just saw the 7 and thought yuck. There's a reason I don't play Omaha... too much thinking involved. -

You play Omaha like it's Hold'em. -
Just happened to have ordered Big Deal today.

If you want to make money playing poker, please disregard everything this guy has said.Proof that he should be ignored: Right now I'm clearing a $75 bonus at Party, requires 750 hands, which I'm going to clear multi-tabling $50nl.After 1200 hands I'll have paid about $50 in rake, and make a $75 bonus.Your credibility is a lot like your virginity, I destroyed them both while you were asleep.

Programmers don't want their bots to play other bots, they want to play against the ocean of fish like you and I.Their end goal is to make money, not prove that they've made a great bot.
-
Money? The reason these guys do these is obviously for the end game, to make money while they sleep, but it's also the 'thrill of the chase' and seeing your bot improve 0.1BB at a time.

If we weren't allowed to talk about other sites I'd leave this forum instantly out of principle.Having said that I'm impressed we haven't had any censorship forced upon us, as a result I'll stick around FCP and tell friends about this site, which in turn may be providing extra customers of FCP "the poker room". -
Point me to a law which says using bots in online poker rooms is illegal.
-
Your example is completely off. It's more like an ex-baseball player becoming a trainer and the guy he trains gets the spot over you.A bot doesn't have mystical powers. If you're better than it you'll beat it. The bot is only as good as its' programmer. If you can't beat the bot then you couldn't beat its' programmer either.

I used to practice table selection, until I stopped seeing any difference in the results.I'll skip tables with less than 30% to the flop, but other than that I select a bunch of tables and sit down, and will sit for a couple hours, in that time the dynamics of the tables will change drastically, the truth is I can't be bothered to change tables every 20 minutes unless I'm at a particularly bad table that messes with my style, which is rare.I think I can outplay my opponents on the flop, just because they're tight preflop doesn't mean they won't call my all-in with top pair.

I've used an online calculator that did give me advice on how to play the hand, I don't consider it cheating (although I'd prefer they didn't exist), but really there's no way to police online calculators.I'd prefer to play with humans. Bots in limit could be a nightmare to play against, in NL I doubt you're going to get paid off when you river your flush as you would against a donk that can't fold his AK.From a purely monetarily point of view I'd always want to play against humans, but I'd love to play against a bot just to figure out how it plays.

I can't wait to find the time to work on an SNG bot. SNGs are very mechanical, and it'd be far easier than a limit holdem bot.I don't understand why they'd always sit in the same seats or take the same amount of time to act though, although the programming is certainly easier it's very stupid to let such obvious tells like these out.Work out how to beat them, and then exploit them.Don't bother whining about it, do something about it, we all know Party is useless.
