  1. Wow, you're a big help.I earned 300 big bets in three weeks by luck? I don't think so.I've read Small Stakes holdem 3 times now, I know that book like I know myself. PS You're a douche bag. Does it may you feel good to insult someone who don't know over the internet? Of all the forums I've ever posted on, this one has the highest proportion of cyber thugs around.
  2. The title says it all, went on a absolutely horrible streak yesterday and today. After having success the past 3 weeks playing 0.50/1 at PP, I ran into a brick wall. I deposited $100 on Aug 21 and reached $400 on Sept 14. Cashed out $250 3 days ago. Ever since the cashout, I can't seem to win a hand, I've taken a ton of horrible beats.Went from having $150 left after the cashout to only about $40 now. I thought $150 would be plently to keep playing 0.50/1 (which is all I play). How common is it to have swings like this?? It's really hard to take.
  3. Just one of the bad beats I took today, which saw me lose $100 in an afternoon.Sorry I tried to use the converter, but it seems to leave out a lot of information. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong.I'm Chris_94PGT, BTW#Game No : 2573853860 ***** Hand History for Game 2573853860 *****$0.50/$1 Texas Hold'em - Sunday, August 21, 17:17:16 EDT 2005Table Table 25422 (Real Money)Seat 9 is the buttonTotal number of players : 10 Seat 2: Sinnataggen ( $39.37 )Seat 3: JohnnyF99 ( $19.46 )Seat 4: illPanther ( $21.25 )Seat 9: KingKing8 ( $34.20 )Seat 8: Chris_94PGT ( $24.92 )Seat 1: TGokou ( $35.96 )Sea
  4. Haha, I wish I had read this post sooner.I bought Phil's "Texas Hold'em" book, which are just the hold'em chapters from "play like the pros".I took his advice on how to play limit.....and got killed.Raising to "get information" doesn't work when the person calls with anything, all it tells you is he/she could have anything.I think most of Phil's success comes from talents that can not be taught. The section on No Limit Touranment play basically said nothing that wasn't totally obvious. I was already doing most of those "techniques" without ever reading a book on poker in my entire life.I feel
  5. Haha, some funny replies.... I definately have a completey different opinion of Hellmuth now then I did a week ago. Sadly, the only reason I bought his book is because it was the cheapest! Now, I know why. I will certainly get the small stakes hold'em book and absorb at much as possible. The more I think about it, the more obvious it becomes that hellmuths strategy can never work at a loose table (as all 0.5/1 tables are). If you are only ever playing pocket pairs and A-K, A-Q, your chances of making straights and flushes are drastically reduced. With so many people calling until the riv
  6. I'll begin by saying I'm a novice player, but one who is willing to admit this and is putting in a lot of study as of late. I've been playing NL in home games and local tournaments, but this is my first time playing on-line limit hold'em.I went out and bought Phil Hellmuth's Texas Hold'em, which is mostly dedicated to Limit and read it in 48 hrs. I also have Lederer's DVD and pre-flop strategy sheets. I feel I grasp the concepts well and I've always been mathematically inclined. I decided to try playing limit using the strategy that Phil recommends, which is basically super tight. I'm ver
  7. OK. My friend has 3 tournament wins (NL Hold'em) in the last 2 months playing only twice a week.
  8. Can someone recommend some poker strategy books that will introduce me to the more mathematical aspect of the game?I've been playing a lot in the past few months, but I feel that the competition I have been facing is not teaching me much.
  9. Actually the rest of it went something like, "but you can beat good players with bad cards."
  10. First off, I'd like to say Hi, this is my first post on this forum.I just wanted to get your feelings on the following statement my friend made yesterday. I'm not sure where he heard it, but after yesterday I think that I believe in it to some extent."You need good cards to beat bad players"
