  1. Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it! Just to be clear, my total debt is actually around $10,000 when you count the other cards that I owe. The $6,000+ is just what the Capital One has successfuly sued me for and has a judgement against me for. They will start collecting on this soon, and I was worried about the wage garnishment part, or about them trying to seize my car. I do make a little over $1,000/mo, was just using that even figure to make my example easier to explain the wage garnishment part. Like I said, I can pay back about $300/mo, but the law firm that represents Capital One will not talk settlement ( I assume because they already won a judgement against me), they just want to start their collection methods. This sounds ridiculous, since if what you guys stated was true about wage garnishment they won't be getting much every month. Also getting another loan to pay of these debts is impossible for me; my credit now is so bad I even got turned down for a Sears Card the other month. The lady at the register told I could save something like 20% on my purchase right there and then if I apply and got it, and she said everybody can get the card. I told her my credit was terrible and it's not worth the time but she insisted they have easy approval requirements and said as long as you have a job you should get it, since practically everybody who applies for one does get approved. BTW, I do have a second job. The cost of living here is ridiculous, but I have family, my sister and nephew, here and don't want to run away back home. I'm sure If I wanted to it would be easy to move (disappear) back to California and never hear from the law firm again, but I wouldn't want that on my conscience. I know in the back of my mind I would be worried about every phone call I get at home or every big envelope that comes in the mail , that maybe one day they will find me, and with the interest will be something like an additinal $20,000 or something. Anyway, I really do appreciate the help. I will make an appointment get some free advice from a bankruptcy attorney to see what to do also. I'll report back here what happens just in case there are others out there like me. Later
I may come off like a huge ***, but you have two jobs and make just a little over $1,000 a month? Working full-time making minimum wage almost gives you more than that.
  2. wow...surprised this has gone on so long......for anyone that says they would not lay down top pair , is obviously kidding themselves, obvious he lucked out on the flop and got a set ..its simple as that, i 've seen similar hands played out like this in tougher competitions and for more money at stack., if you don't believe me go to carplayer.com and check out wpt tournament updates and it will describe hundreds of hands of top tournament pros going all in on top pair heads up and getting outflopped by a set, in fact you can see some great players....falling into traps, thats poker...... i'm not wining about that...or the criticsm..... by the way cards is the "last" thing poker is about, its a people game...this is what Phil ivey, Daniel and brunson say all the time. YOU play the player, "not" your cards. BAx and sheets are great players, i 'm not dogging them. These guys raise and reraise with ANY two cards, and there great player, who also get caught in traps, i've seen it all the time... THATS POKER ... i was merely asking if people are able to read a set of an aggresive player..... you guys should watch some of gus hansens wpt victories, and recent appearance on EPT, geesh this guy is great and he's hard to read because of his table image. Some of the best players in the world get trapped by him..... they hardly fold top pair to hansen offense , regardless of his raises.... sets from AGGRESive players are difficult to read..... tight and solid players are no too hard to read , because they play great most of the time and they "always" have good cards.......for those who say they could read aggressive loose players well, then your probably very successful, but for the rest of us ...its a learning process...its POKER...by the way i said daben is the #1 player at stars NOW.... he's on the top of the tournament leader board for this year.... you can log on to pokerstars and check it yourself......
How can you make a logical argument and think 7-7 has to suckout to beat k-j?
  3. If your point is that Phil should not be complaining about doing so well, you have to understand Phil Ivey. He was the best player left at that point and had a good size stack. He misplayed a hand that he did not need to commit himself that much with and that cost him the tourney.
The point wasn't to say he was complaining. I know he misplayed a hand that cost him, but didn't know he wasn't focused throughout the tournament. To do as well as he did without his 'A' game is crazy.
  4. Well, it seems my musings may have been correct. I did some research and she may be appearing during episodes 7-10. I'm sure she'll die so they'll never have to bring her back lol. jk. From moviehole.net"Sounds like Jack Bauer better stock up on paracetamol. According to TV Guide, Elisha Cuthbert has agreed to reprise her role as Bauer’s (Kiefer Sutherland) spunky but slightly-troublesome offspring in a multi-episode arc in the next season of “24”.Cuthbert, who left the series at the end of the second season to pursue a film career, won’t be joined by her on-screen husband, Chase (James Badge Dale) in the episodes, says the site. (His fate will be explained though).Though it’s unsure why Kimmy B’s going to be back in town, she’s apparently going to discover Daddy faked his death and she’s not happy she wasted those tears for nothing. The IMDB lists Cuthbert’s episodes as episodes 5.7 – 5.10.Some of the other faces coming to "24" next season - besides the ones we all know about, like Connie Britton and Sean Astin - include "Starship Troopers 2" babe Sandrine Holt, Oleg Taktarov ["15 Minutes"], Matt Battaglia ["Showgirls"], Denis Arndt ["L.A Law"], Sabrina Lloyd ["Numbers"] and Jonah Lotan ["NY-LON"]."
TV Guide is even messing up? Kim worked at CTU during season 3. It's the only season featuring Chase. I love seeing the preview for next Sunday's opener. "The first 10 minutes will change everything>" Boooooooooing
  5. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!Had to get that in there. Now, I suffer from a similar addiction to Daniel. I have been watching 24 since season 1 and own all 4 DVD sets, can't wait for season 5 to start Jan. 15. I hope David Palmer can make it through this season, and most of all I hope Jack's daughter(elisha cuthbert) makes a triumphant return and then gets kidnapped again. Honestly, she was the reason I first watched the show but after like three episodes you literally can't stop. I did almost watch all 24 episodes of season 1 in a 24 hour period, but it was more like 48. Still, it was a wild ride. Season 1 has to be the beast season, followed by seasons 4, 2, and 3. Season 3 started ok but quickly fell apart, so in Season 4, they had to have extra action, 4 subplots, and a slew of surprises. Look for more of the same during this upcoming season. Jack Bauer is the man, and Tony just has a presence of CTU around him.GO 24!
Cuthbert will not be back for the next season. Sorry to disappoint.
    I've read differently.
  6. No I thought I defended myself quite well, I said that the guy was trying to steal pots the whole night and with 30 in the pot and noone raising I figured thats what he was doing. The whole table knew he was a theif, from 3 hands in the past 2 orbits when he was betting the whole way and was called down with mid pair and he never showed his cards.
Except he had you beat, and even if he was stealing a blind hand is likely better than 10 9 offsuit.
Yea but I was going into the hand, thinking that if I hit the flop I would be ahead of him. I knew he didnt have a big pair by the way he was playing his big pairs.
You're only going to hit that flop once in every three times. You will have top pair even less frequently. That being said, he will lead regardless of what comes. Therefore you will have to fold almost every time. Is this really a situation you want to put 1/6th of your stack in with?
Just a question: Do any of you guys play live regularly. Because alot of it is about reads. I had been playing with the guy for 2-3 hours and thought I had a good read on him. I went with my read, found out I was right and ended up getting turned.
Your read was that he had a better hand than you and you called?

  9. Toyota or 7.5 million? Tough choice.
Ugh.Responding to this is going to, once again appear like I'm bitter to some foo's... oh well.He means Mike didn't get the WSOP player of the year prize for winning the tournament of champions, that prize went to the best overall player. The main event first prize is not what he's talking about, as the main event wasn't composed of only the top players from the other WSOP events leading up to it.And, I guess I have to qualify for people who think I would get upset over a pair of glasses; I'm explaining his point without any consideration what-so-ever as to where I stood in the standings, or my place in the TOC.(dna, I sympathize with you on explaining things when you were involved in what is being discussed. =P)
I'll give you that the booze played a part in that comparison. Didn't even think of Matusow and the TOC. I just thought of him as the biggest name at the MV final table, and the Toyota reference was that the best player throught the tournament (Cunningham) doesn't get the biggest prize (Hachem). Congrats though.
  10. gg Dna.Does Spademan get anything special for being overall #1?I mean it seems unfair that your the Champion no offense but Spademan had a better overall season
And the team with the best record wins the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Championships .... oh wait...... never mind
Nor is the superbowl moved from a football field to a basketball court and the quarters shortened.
I thought this was the wittiest of the remarks.I tend to agree that Spademan did get kinda of screwed. Not only did he outplay the entire season and then have it all decide on one tournament...I mean in the WSOP do they give the Toyota to Mike Mattsow? No they give it to Allen Cunningham cause he did best overall. Also what I thought was unfair is it was switched to a different site and the blinds were faster.I petition that the new rules should be for next season that the best overall season gets the big prize, and not just one lucky win.(again no offense Dna)
Toyota or 7.5 million? Tough choice.
  11. Didn't you hear?? Nobody from Indiana that drinks Keystone is allowed to win, seriously, it's long standing rule.
 I am NOT giving up Keystone for an all-expense trip to a Super Bowl party in Vegas. Even I have principles.
Since when has drinking water flavored beer been a principle?
  12. i can't believe you waste your time on me, when we now know the top player of the year is a fraud.think about that.i make comments.he lies, cheats, steals chips, and wins awards for his good work. :x
Yes, that was news... in 2001.
  13. sorry.. I need the post to get off Newbie status... :)Someone mentioned this above, and I'm sure it's probably just a misconception, but I've also noticed that CardPlayer rarely seems to mention DN in their updates... I'm not really a conspiracy person (for most things), and I know they cover the 'action' and not necessarily specific people.. but DN was the 2004 PoY, right? so wouldn't they at least mention him once or twice?things that make you go, hmm....CCM - AcesFull333
Any conspiracy theory drawn up like this is definately in your head... from cardplayer.comThe tournament clock has been updated for the first time, and it's now showing 523 players remaining in the tournament. The prizepool is also listed, so we will be posting that soon.Don't forget about "The Circuit." Tonight's special guest will be none other than Daniel Negreanu. Send your questions for Daniel and our host Mike Matusow to thecircuit@cardplayer.com.
