  1. Oh how I loved that broadcast.I don't think it could have better portrayed the truth about forum elite types and online players. Big personalities and well put together on their forums behind their screens, big awkward weirdos in real life.Forget how he swung a chair cover around like a retard with a lasso, just imagine him at home , alone and in his underwear doing that and screaming "OWNED" everytime he hits his set online. And talk about a pouty lil baby after a few beats, knocking his chip stacks over into the pot or pushing his cards away in disgust. If this is the new face of poker, these
  2. smash's method is what all new poker players should play.you'll see a crazy amount of hands.you'll see why K J wouldnt have held up.you'll see why calling with certain things makes no sense.and you might make a couple bucks while learning a lot more.then you can venture out and make your own mods, until its a style you really enjoy and excel at.
  3. i'm not sure about being bluffed liberally. i wouldn't have been bluffed off that hand pre-flop. and i showed that a bet on the flop didn't push me off.however. i def played it wrong. i thought i could be cute and limp, then was to stubborn to lay it down on the flop, and got burned.but i dont think i showed any signs of being bluffed off pots easily.sean

  5. So this week I took 1st place in our weekly tourney. A dominating vicoty if i've ever seen one. Then I entered a live $65 buy in with 120 people on friday and took 7th place. I feel like I could have easily won it, but never got cards to play with. Or a flop to really bet with. Had to make a lot of moves preflop to stay afloat. Still very proud I hung on and outlasted and outplayed a lot of guys.Anyway, I owe it all the Harringtons books and reading these forums every day. Thanks guys.ps. was sitting at a table with two pair, aces and jacks. guy announces he has a full house when we show down
  6. I'll tell you what, if not for making money...doing this will teach you volumes on the kind of utter shit people will call with.Apparently $30-$150 isnt much money to other people to lose in one fell swoop.
  7. I'm pretty much hovering at my $50 buy in.Only hit 2 sets so far. No callers. Got a couple nice flops after checkin the BB, so thats why I havent been blinded away.
  8. Dont people at the table eventually notice you only show 3 of a kind or a flush?I'm trying it right now. Havent been called yet. Hit 2 sets so far.Sean
  9. I finished Harrington Vol. 1 this week. Picking up Vol. 2 this weekend.I finished 1st and 4th tonight.2nd game, I was proud to make it that far. Got pretty nasty hole cards, hit no flops got called just about every time i tried to steal a pot. But I held out, and got knocked out with top pair vs. a guy slow playing pocket aces. I had some outs still but didnt hit them.I'm pretty happy with that kind of progress after 1 week.I owe a lot of it to these forums.Sean
  10. Ok boys and girls. My weekly game is tonight and I feel like a new player after soaking up everything I can from these forums and reading books and from playing a lot of hands.Lets see if I can grind these fish down. Thanks for all the help.
  11. I think it's pretty clear that starting stacks + blind progression can distinguish players.I've been playing in a 950 chips to start with 10/20 blinds escalating every 20 minutes. The esculation in blind size is 2x....it's all in an effort to get the game moving quicker. But the reality is it makes the games all about luck. I find myself exiting these games on draws very often, and it is very frustrating. However, no matt er what the structure...a skillful player should be able to adjust and that is what i have spent a lot of time on these boards trying to handle.
  12. ATTN : HUGE NEWB QUESTION. BUT I JUST GOTTA ASK.What's all this 2BB/100...I have an idea, but wanna know exactly.
  13. Which stats point to that? Not disagreeing, but i'd like to monitor myself.I already feel like I play too many, and have cut it down drastically. Hope to get that straightened out.Sean
  14. I play pokerroom.com.Well, I did. But I signed up to FullTilt to play in a FCP Tourney and I don't think i'll be going back.Only thing I liked about Pokerroom.com was the %s shown during a showdown. I don't like to have to think when i'm busy praying.
  15. I suspect he has a horseshoe up his behind.....However, our chips might contribute to the winning stack. He is #1 right now.
  16. I thought i'd give you guys who invested a little wisdom in me a heads up .I found myself sittin on pocket aces at a FCP MTT on FullTilt, bet very strong and pushed the player off a draw, taking down a nice little pot. But, my curse continues...Now I don't have one of your fancy programs, however I just got knocked out of a FCP $20+2 MTT. I was low stack (1300), average stack with 16 people left was 3500 , with AK against A9.... on the button I went all in pre-flop after everyone folded behind me, big blind (6700 or so) called thinking I was trying to steal, as I wanted........... flop comes x
  17. Now I don't have one of your fancy programs, however I just got knocked out of a FCP $20+2 MTT with AK against A9.... went all in after a ton of folds on the button, big blind/ big stack called thinking I was trying to steal, as I wanted........... flop comes x-x-9-A-9.mmmm good night.
  18. You know, I was wondering when someone would point out the elitist comments. I have to say, that was written in frustration and probably hedging a defense for the posters that just wanted to flame me for whining about bad beats. I've been on a few forums for other genres and know how these boards work. But like I said, very please and appreciative of the responses.Sorry for the cheap shot, was still steaming.
  19. Wow. Didn't think i'd get so many replies.Really appreciate it guys.
  20. I guess I should have been more specific about my beats . We played 2 games. In the first one I had recently shown a lot of strength with my cards then was able to buy a few pots with some solid hands, which really started to agitate people at the table. I decided to sit back and wait for a very good hand and take advantage of a sloppy call. At this point the blinds were at 50-100. I found myself holding A A. I had about 1500 in chips. I raised to 200. I was called by the big stack/small blind to my left. Flop came J 8 2. Big stack acted first with a 200 bet, I raised with 400 more. He called.
  21. This is inresponse to both posts below me.The games I play weekly LIVE are with 6-10 people, $20 buy in texas no limit.I play online frequently and truthfully don't touch cash games, because I want a decent roll first. I am succesful at 5 handed tourney tables, very succesful. Call it understanding the cheap buy in people and a basic intuition.I'd like to play everything. I've recently found that on a new awesome sit ethat i'm sure some of you know , Craigslist, you can find some great tourneys that enthusiasts are setting up.But mainly, the games that frustrates me and baffle me are:$20 buy
  22. I feel like I have a good understand of the basics of the game. I grasp pot odds , I understand position. I have taken lately to playing a lot of hands and getting a good feel. I've started reading my first book on poker. I look at this as a chance to really try to excel at something I have a serious affection for. I however, keep suffering at one game I goto weekly. $20 buy in, 6-10 people, fairly fast blinds, starting with 1000 chips. The beats I face are viscious, its acknowledged by people. So I decided, I am obviously doing something if my "bad beats" are this consistant. I start playing
