  1. Final table, 9 left, I have QJ off in MP and a stack of 20k. Recently donked off 20k b/c I wasn't paying attention, tried a standard steal but there was a limper that I didn't see, he min raises, Im priced in, call, flop is J83, he raises, I reraised putting him on not much, he moves in i have to fold. Anyway, so the hand. I have QJ suited in MP, same guy limps early. I make a 5x bb raise. he flat calls. flop is A77, he makes a a bet of about 1/4 of the pot. Not saying what I did exactly, but this guy is showing extreme weakness to me.

  2. No, this is not the strategy that you want to take. Going crazy against a maniac will only get you into trouble. The suggesstions to play tight or leave the table were good ones that I totally agree with.
try playing tight against a maniac heads up, see what happens.
  3. I think I've faced around 100 raise preflop, instabet the flops today. on 0 of these occasions have I had anything close to a hand. what is with this and why do people do it so much. It's such a bad bet with pretty much anything they have as I see it.

  4. I didnt see the hand, but anyone know what the stacks/blinds were like. Tough to have a spot where this bet is good but it's possible. for example the short stack may have been so short that he didn't even matter and doubling him up was not a problem. Also I guess Ted could have been playing for first and only first. Or he could have wanted to not give Pham the pot and would rather the other guy had it.

  5. Finally I win one. When he pushed in at the end I half expected him to turn up an ace high flush. That's how I run heads up. I ran well and played well in this tourney, finally took one down, thanks for the support. And I hit a ****ing really flush. PS GrinderMJ will be the mother of my child. lol.

  6. Grinder, I don't know how much you want to divulge, but I have trouble understanding how young guys like you build your bankrolls to play in the larger online events. I think I have the talent to be playing in these events but I definitely lack the bankroll. I play mostly $10+$1 tourneys online as it is now... and I'm 22.
I can give you an answer to this. I built up my bankroll by winning in cash games and tournaments. I started playing 5s 10s, fairly low limit poker. I am a fairly risk averse individual but I'm not stupid. I play slightly out of bankroll usually and take my shots. Being young and a student, I don't have a lot of money, but I also don't have a ton of financial commitments so I can use a large portion of my spare cash for poker. I've at times had 3/4 of my total funds in poker sites. hope that helps answer.Oh and satellites.
  7. I play mostly on full tilt, I like the 24+2 guarantees all day as I like smaller fields most of the time. I also like the 50+5 doublestack, and the regular 50+5 that runs around 11 or 12 I think. I of course like the 100 - 200 entries on FT and UB. I lose on pokerstars all the time, I think the fields are too massive and I don't pay attention. I can navigate huge fields on Full Tilt though. I love that place.

  8. and I'm out. KJ in the cutoff, blinds at 200/400 with an ante of 50. I raise to 1600, leaving myself about 4000. two folds, the bb calls. flop is 10 3 5. he checks, I check. turn is a K. He bets, I push in. he calls with 10 3. ok.

  9. haha crap I thought this was the UB thread. I'm still in the 19k on ft, 2/3 of average stack 163 left.I'll be gone next weekend Grinder, but I should be good for the next week after. We'll get it together eventually.

  10. out now, was doing well for a while, then didnt win any signifigant hands for over an hour, and i was out. Ugh one hand made a big mistake. I had around 5500 limped in LP with A8 suited after three other limpers. Pot is 750. flop comes 359 two clubs. blinds and a couple limpers check, third limper bets the pot. What do you think I did? I folded. very bad fold i think. He had around 2500 and my thinking was that I couldn't call here. I was right in thinking that, but what I should have done is reraised all in. He could have a set or two pair and would call, which would be worst case for me, but I still have outs. He could have top pair, might fold, and if he calls, I have plenty of outs. He could have a lower flush draw which would be best case, leaving him six outs. He could have mid pair, flush draw and I'd have a billion outs. so weak of me to fold. calling would have been terrible also though i think. All in all I played pretty weak and leaked off my chips. Picking up a hand would have been nice, but I played bad, which sucks.
