  1. This lamb is ready for the slaughter if you need more HU players...
  2. Was born in Indiana to non-second-cousin parents and actually turned out strikingly normal.Somehow got elected Homecoming King at a Big 10 school and got to walk out to mid-field with George Burns to sing the Alma Mater, crown and all.Cliff-jumped 6 stories in the Greek Isles. Naked. Twice. Suffered a cracked tailbone on the first jump that caused multiple horrendously gross and painful inflammations of the ass-ial area every year or two over the next 15 years.Lived in Amsterdam for 3 months...and only smoked pot 3 times (legally). Have never taken an "illegal" drug. Was one of the first 50 peo
  3. I'm surprised no one has factored in the -EV of dry cleaning the poo stains from your pants on the 2/45 chance that one of your scare cards hits on the turn, as well. That's the deal breaker for me.
  4. Tell me about it. When I first heard about that thing, I knew they'd be in some serious s#it soon enough. Anyone could have seen that no way can tourism (or the city's future natural resources) handle that kind of additional volume. At some point I think they just got too far in to go back.Anyway, recession ain't just hitting Vegas...it hit the ad agency I work for when we got dumped by MC in November. So Ozi--get ready for your Fiji water to hit $10/bottle (if it hasn't already)...
  5. That's some bulls#it right there.
  6. LOL, I know this is thread is for serious players but dammit, I did OK (for me) so I'm gonna share, too.Somehow turned $100 into $1000 playing live in low-limit cash games and tourneys (at least before donking off about $400 in other casino action).Best live poker day was during an early-Spring trip to Vegas where I FT'd both Binion's daily tourneys for about a $600 profit. And despite finishing a respectable but OOTM 5th in the WSOP/FCP Poker Tourney in Vegas, I managed to nit Zach's $93 windfall into a $170 online. So all in all, I have about $500 live and $170 online profit that I didn't have
  7. Joking obv on knowing the exact number of shots I'd taken in basketball, but I would absolutely bet the over on a million shots in my lifetime if there was a way to determine such things. When you grow up in Indiana (40 minutes from Larry Bird's hometown), you play a LOT of basketball, namely because: a) basketball is life in Indiana, and 2) there's nothing else to do in Indiana. I wanted to be Larry after he was Larry and Jimmy Chitwood before he was Jimmy Chitwood. Unfortunately, not many slow, white 5'11" shooting guards with only average left handed dribbling skills play for high school sta
  8. Probably 20,000 max.But I've attempted over a million shots in basketball.1,079,533 approximately.I've kept an accurate count (+/- 5) since I was 8.Made 44% of them (474,995), but I'm 45% from 3-point land.Yes, I'm better from behind the arc than inside it.I think that's because I don't use the glass enough inside.Sorry for the hijack. Please continue.
  9. LOL...I've actually had this thought while playing online late at night. But it's when I start asking myself "why doesn't 3 pair beat two pair?" that I really know it's time to go to bed.
  10. [x] Played golf last Saturday.[x] Start holiday vacation tomorrow through Jan. 5th.[x] Probably have to golf tomorrow, too.[ ] Miss winters in Chicago.
  11. Yes, you did...the fact that you needed time to think about your decision again showed me I was out of my league, cuz I was insta-calling that if I'm you.BTW, now that I think about that tourney, I actually WAS THIS FISH we've just been talking about back in that FCP tourney. Mark's wife flopped trip Jacks, raised all-in and I called off well over half my stack on a NFD (no pair). That I hit the flush and held on the river absolutely did NOT make me feel any less embarrassed by such a donk play, but there's your mediocre mindset in (yet another) nutshell. As in "I'm gonna have to get a little
  12. So true. One of the only times I dipped my toes into NL cash game was on that July FCP trip. I reraised an aggro and another player with AQs because I didn't respect aggro's initial raise for aforementioned reasons (was actually more worried about the caller). When a Queen flopped with two hearts (not my suit), the aggro guy bet, the 2nd guy called, and I reraised all-in. Aggro called and 3rd player hemmed and hawed, then said "I can't believe I'm folding this" and folded KQ face-up. Point is, seeing him fold there showed me that I really wasn't ready for this game, because I couldn't really s
  13. Thanks, man. And yes, guilty as charged on the first point and at least glad to know I wasn't wrong on the last.BTW, Rdog, my post parallels exactly my line of thinking in the hand you and I played in our FCP Vegas poker tournament in July (note: when you don't play a lot of tourney poker, you remember little hands like that one). I had AKo and when the Ace flopped, I had one thought...get it all in before I have to make a tougher decision against you. If you had two pair or trips, well, this fish (me) probably wasn't good enough to get away from it later anyway. Granted, that was an easier de
  14. I'm no expert but I am a mediocre player, so I might be qualified to shed some light on villain's thought process a bit. I'm not saying the following is GOOD PLAY, obv.CONFESSIONS OF A MEDIOCRE PLAYER (IN THIS SITUATION):If I'm the villain, to me it's about more than 15 outs (which we know is not really 15 outs for the various holdings you might have). My thought process would be more along the lines of: "If I'm not willing to go with this flop (TP+NFD) against a good opponent, why am I even in the hand? Especially against a good opponent who may just be getting frisky on a dangerous-looking b
  15. Keep, if not add to, the non-HE events. Otherwise, it's like limiting the Olympics to Track and Field.Keep the rebuy tourneys as-is, too. They're just another variation of poker...at a minimum requiring a different mindset than traditional tourneys. And I certainly don't think Lee Watkinson finishing second with one buy-in is any better than DN winning one with 20-some buy-ins. The game is what it is, and you either adapt to the conditions necessary to win or you don't. A $1000 rebuy tourney is still more in the reach of someone like me than the $50,000 HORSE event anyway. But PLEASE do not pos
  16. I have to admit that's kinda funny. Next time, though, wear a shirt that says PANTS and see what he says.
  17. I know the feeling. I only play recreationally but think any game worth playing (especially for money) is a game worth playing well. I've been playing micro SNGs and tournies for 3 years and am a "winning" player but my per hour (hell, my per year) rate would be considered laughable. I guess the fact that I haven't lost money overall and the fact that I've actually done pretty well in live tournies sort of prove that I'm a capable player, but I'm pretty sure I won't progress until I take the next steps of a) playing a lot more and 2) getting a coach. Alas, neither of these things are things I
  18. I live in Phoenix and have little desire to travel to Mexico for the aforementioned reasons. (And this from someone who's been to several border towns, including Juarez, Matamoros, Tijuana and Nogales--all before they became too dangerous to visit). In fact, come to think of it, I don't know ANYONE who lives here who's driven to Mexico (Rocky Point, Nogales, etc.) and DIDN'T return with one of those stories.I might still consider visiting a resort town on the coast away from the border, but the sad fact is, the border towns are all too unstable now--anyplace you can drive to from Phoenix is ju
  19. ^^^^^What this guy said exactly (except I just turned 38).Oh, and I would add in the 30-40 some odd FCP'ers and friends whom I met this summer at our FCP WSOP Golf/Poker Meetup Thingy in the "guys whom I look up to." At this event, I had the pleasure of meeting (and playing against) Vick12, RDog, NoSup, Zach6668, nutz, Ozium, GetSprung, CubsFan44, BalloonGuy, chrozzo, loismustdie, GoStags, navybuttons, monix, etc. etc. It was a blast then (Fiji water and one bad bluff easily sniffed out by CubsFan44 notwithstanding) and has, for me, made following these forums--in all their poker or more likel
  20. Just saying Palin's not a pick to FEAR, is all. Nor is it the "obvious" correct choice, particularly if your standard is "areas McCain needs some help with." That burden is way too big for any one Veep to bear. Obama's choice on the other hand...relatively easy. "Political" experience. Biden. Done.
  21. Another slowplay, nutz?Palin was mayor of a town that's not even the population of the Bellagio on a Saturday night, and she's flip-flopped on the only issue of note in her political career by initially being for then (surprise!) politically against "The Bridge to Nowhere" project in her home state. Yeah, I'm sure the Dems are FREAKING OUT. McCain obviously made the DESPERATE choice...as in "for attention." Palin = McCain's 1-outer.I'm not against McCain/Palin. But let's call a spade a spade and admit McCain chose her to help: a) secure the ex-Hillary voters and 2) shore up votes with the elep
