Cane,I used to live in Miami and live in Phoenix now. I've also lived in Chicago, St. Louis, DC, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and San Diego (with a small stopover in Amsterdam for 3 months, as well). I can say without a doubt I would not trade any of those places for Phoenix for all the reasons mentioned above and more. Overall, the benefits to cost ratio is unparalleled. Thanks man. I do try to mix up how I play big hands based on what my reputation is at the table, but I probably err way too much on the slowplay approach overall. I think in this particular case, assuming I had trips on the flop, I didn't view the flop as really scary...but looking back, if straight and flush possibilities AREN'T scary then what is? Anyway, good stuff for me to think about and incorporate, so I appreciate you taking the time to 'splain.

Or that we're fine with only making a little when we raise and they fold? RDog, I love the point you're making here as I confess I've done this very thing with exactly this kind of thinking (most recently in my HU match with specbrad who rightly called with medium pair vs my busted straight draw).That said, I have to ask...why couldn't villain's hand be 33, 88 or 99 as played? To me, the action supports any of those. Call a modest PF raise. Call a CB on a perfect flop. Call a bigger CB on a non-scary turn and reraise/shovel on a useless river card. Care to enlighten a mediocre player on this?

Not sure why, as an almost exclusive MTT and SNG player, I haven't visited this thread more, but I just wanted to say I have been reading it recently and have really enjoyed the hand discussions. Even for a golfer this is a lot of rules but hell, if you know what you're talking about (franchises?) and can 'splain it, I'm down. Generally I'd say run it like a charity tourney...scramble...buy mulligans beforehand...prizes for closest to pin and longest putt...booby prize for worst team score, etc.
