  2. No worries. We'll make this work, or we'll resort to Plan B--trussdude's stretch Hummer with the stripper pole for a little In-n-Out. And yes, I just realized how many sex references there are in that statement. On another note, we're totally set on the Poker Tourney (see thread--too tired to type anything else). Thanks for all the input. Will check back in on Monday.
  3. GOOD NEWS! Poker Room was happy to go with our revised structure, so consider this it:Start: 9pmBlinds: 20 minutes eachStarting stack: $4000 in chips (up from $3K), no rebuys or add-onsLevels:25/2525/5050/10075/150BREAK100/200/25 (ante)150/300/25200/400/50300/600/50BREAK—Color off quarters400/800/100500/1000/100600/1200/200800/1600/2001000/2000/300Given 20 minute blinds and two 5-minute breaks, the above structure would result in a finish around 4-4.5 hours. They said no sweat on how many we end up with...any # of tables up to 4 or 5 is fine. They'll even make slight alterations to the structu
  4. Poker is already everywhere on NBC, ESPN, Fox Sports Network, Bravo, GSN, etc.. How much more do we need? Primetime TV isn't going to put poker any more in a positive light than it already is. Repealing the internet poker ban is not about how popular the sport is. If you want to win that battle, it's got to be won on the rights/freedoms/not harming anyone angles, not popularity. And I'm not sure this massive change to the biggest event in poker even accomplishes what you suggest in the first place. I still think it will be worse. When you think about it, broadcasting the ME FT like this makes i
  5. Just called and left msg to verify if what I posted is correct. I'm with you guys that there should be some wiggle room. After all, we are their first large group. They need to experiment. If we can all hold horses until I hear (and this may be in 5 minutes or it may be Monday), let's do that. Cool? Cool.
  6. 20 in for Option #1:Pots +1 (either menu vote)Nutz +1NoSup4U +1Copernicus +1Suited Up +1 (pending Sallyisms)MJINK3cubsfan44trussdude +2Vick12loismustdie ($100 vote)troyomac ($65 vote)AAsnake88GetSprung ($65 vote)Looks like that's a go, so just need to determine if we want to go steak-or-chicken ($65) menu, or steak-and-lobster ($100). I figure at this point, us 20 can make the call and let others join or bail based on that decision going forward. So choose your menu if you haven't yet...
  7. Yes. We need to agree on one or the other AS A GROUP. $65 menu would then give each person the option of steak or fish. $100 would mean steak and lobster for all.
  8. I expected nothing less, Sally. (i keed!)No, see, that's the point of choosing a menu. We do it in advance so everyone knows exactly what they are getting and what their cost is, but more importantly so BRAND knows in advance exactly what to prepare so they have every dish perfect right at 7:32pm or whatever. All this means is you just choose and pay in advance, instead of when you're sunburned and drunk...
  9. Absolutely. This probably only gets 4-6 prelim events shown before the ME, but it hits to the core of my point. I've never understood (and I'm especially perplexed given this new twist) why ALL the events must be edited before they start showing ANY of them.
  10. Looks like we've got 16 for option #1, 0 for option #2 (see edited list from earlier post).Quick notes:Group--are we leaning towards the $65 or $100 menu? Note: if we do the Surf-n-Turf its not an issue because that's the entree. But to clarify on the $65 one...we would need to submit entree selections in advance of the date, so there won't be changing last minute.Copernicus--any options for advance payment besides Paypal?Suited Up and White Fish Lovers--I'm thinking we can get a mass-substitution for the Sole over the Salmon on the $65 option if that's the pref. Additionally, I think if we're
  11. Three years, and THIS is my first response from DN?God. Dammit. On a serious note, DN, I'm not suggesting ESPN show the MAIN EVENT coverage out of order. The two weeks (versus three months) I proposed between the ME days and the Final Table would be for ESPN to cull together all the Main Event-only footage into 7 shows or whatever. Thus, ESPN uses the first week to edit these together, and the second week to run each of these Main Event episodes one day after the next for the second week, thus building to the climactic, live final seemlessly.By my understanding, ESPN is saying they need THRE

Details to follow if/when Option #1 becomes our choice. Thanks for this, C-man...

  14. There is a "Dover Sole" listed on another group option. If you're serious, I could inquire about that, especially if there's only one, lol.
  15. Surf-and-turf FTW then? I'll see about another fish option, just for the halibut.NOT.
  16. So the Cliff Notes version on dinner is we have two options:1) Group-style (NOT A "BANQUET" lol...)PROS:-MC's recommendation, given our current group size.-Up to 36 people (6 tables) in our own area that looks out over the gaming floor.-Everyone seated at 7pm and served together.-Ensures we get done for the 9pm poker tourney.-Fixed price options at $65 and $100--basically $65 includes shrimp appetizer, wedge salad, entree choice of King Salmon Steak or a 10oz Filet Mignon, Mac-n-cheese and creamed spinach for sides and a dessert (chef's nightly selection). The $100 option includes the same sid

  18. QFMFT.As someone who has been in enough edit rooms to know, I see NO reason why ESPN needs three friggin months. THREE MONTHS??? C'mon, I could give them two weeks between the ME and the ME Final Table for a proper hype buildup, ala the Super Bowl, but seriously, no one will even care 3 months later! It'll be like one continuous episode of Poker After Dark, just with well-coached unknowns.Look, if CBS can cull together hundreds of hours of March Madness games for their "One Shining Moment" just to make me cry like a little girl 30 seconds after the final buzzer, I think freakin' ESPN can get t

  20. Sry for this weaksauce...the featured member thing was all I really knew of you. My bad. Then again, I forgot about your poker tutelage, so now I think a t-shirt the reads something like "Vick12 is MY only student" would be tits.
  21. No autographed Crosby jersey? I thought you were a $MOD$.
  22. Since I'm pretty much a guppy in this shark tank, I think BOUNTIES are in order for this tourney. I've taken the liberty of assigning some players the bounty they must produce upon getting knocked out, but feel free to modify and complete:NoSup4U - one pair of $200 but slightly used designer jeansCopernicus - 3-hole punched printouts of all tourney strat advice since January, 2006 compiled in a fly CHiPs Trapper KeeperVick13 - ten sincere posts for you as FCP Featured Member of the MonthSuitedup - MJINK3 -Cubsfan44 - signed glossy photo of BartmanAAsnake88 - Getsprung - signed copy of Harry Po
