  1. QFT. Would love it if the winners chose the first event for insta-railing opps, though i agree it should be up to them. I could/would still cheer on NoSup and ObeyTheDog the next day anyway. I've never seen the WSOP live so this is my priority after Friday...And FWIW, if I win a seat, it definitely will be Saturday's $1500 for me, given that baby #2's arrival is pretty much possible anytime after this weekend thru the rest of the WSOP (we're at 34+ weeks right now). Remember, this weekend is my "Last Hurrah" for God knows how long...
  2. I think the author needs to read "The Professor, The Banker and The Suicide King."Cliff Notes: HSP and its $300k pots is hardly the biggest game in town...
  3. Yes and yes. Yes and yes. Obv with the latter, it won't have to be exact. I'm sure the group would be fine with rounding off in favor of the winner to simplify payouts.
  4. I don't think we need a list. We've got 30+ for dinner and I think copernicus and I are expecting most will play in our tourney right after. Regardless, MC Poker Room is ready for us whether we're 2, 3, 4 or even 5-tables strong, so unlike dinner, a hard number is not necessary. That said, I think we should decide in advance what the buy-in is going to be and what the share % should be. This will help establish some baseline for what players will be agreeing to once we're there. Just don't want to waste a lot of time discussing this that night, since we have a tourney to win and nightclubs to h
  5. Played this weekend and it was butt-ass hot. Sucks cuz it was perfect last week while I was cooped up in my office, too. That said, I used the heat to my advantage. Stayed within a shot or two of my buddy through 14, then kicked it up a step as his out-of-shape ass was tiring out FTW.
  6. Only redeeming quality of the DVD rental: the mini-feature on the 21-year-old chick who wrote the book--she's a mega-hottie. Especially with that accent.
  7. Saw this movie with the wife last night. Initial thoughts:1) Lead should've gone to Garner. Still can't get past the image of Swank as a boy in Boys Don't Cry.2) Irish accent > Irish beer -- for getting laid3) Gina Gershon...and no chick on chick action? W.T.F.4) There are many, many less torturous ways to get monkey sex than to suffer thru P.S. I Love You.
  8. I think someone really needs a hug today.Or perhaps I could suggest something more creative.I'm thinking something involving Asian women dressed as meerkats, lots of chocolate body paint and videos about unicorns, but to each his own.
  9. I work indirectly for the lottery and someone there told me that the quick calculation on a lump-sum payout after taxes is almost exactly 30% of the "estimated jackpot." Factor in another poster's spot-on observation about a possible split, and you are looking at a very -EV situation, even at that payout. That said, if I could, I would, but I can't (play, that is).Good luck and I expect 4.40 stakes from our FCP winner(s).
  10. Yeah, I don't get that. So he and Rolen win a World Series with the Cards and then they go bad mouth the organization? Sphinctersezwha? What was possibly so bad about playing on a team that gave you as a player at least a 75% chance of making the playoffs while you were there? All I can guess is that maybe LaRussa is tougher on the players than he gets credit for. He definitely doesn't pull punches and doesn't coddle egos, which is why I like the guy besides the obvious fact that he knows the game probably as well as any manager. His team has zero pitching and a starting outfield that had no op
  11. DISINFORMATION ALERT!Lol, i wasn't quoting THAT part of your statement, you rube! I meant the part you deleted: "i just think of him as twice the player PH is" part. So explain, cuz I'm confused...what EXACTLY does "twice the player" mean if not that you think durrr would get 2 wins to every one of PH's 1???Silly discussions, indeed!
  12. How have you survived this forum with such weak skin?Just kidding. But seriously, come off the ledge, 99. FWIW, I AM A HUGE FAN of the Cubs' fiercest rival, so maybe to you I'm some "random person," but I thought I was just engaging in a little banter and talking a little trash with someone who was used to such things--God knows I've know plenty of sCrUB fans in my days (including my 2 roommates in Chicago for 4+ years), and you're the first one to get upset. So I apologize for my forwardness in assuming you were a fellow combatant. As for your personal comment, perhaps what I lack in creativit
  13. 10-5 record over 15 matches...Phil Ivey > Jennifer Tilly YESJesus Ferguson > Jason Alexander YES[insert favorite pro here] > Poker Brat SHA-NAY-NAY
  14. You realize you guys are really saying that out of 15 matches HU between durrr and PH, durrr would win 10.Sorry, not drinking that Kool-Aid.I think Copernicus is right. At these guys' level, there's no way durrr (or alternatively, PH) would accumulate a 10-5 record against the other. Not in Hold 'Em. Not on a consistent basis.
  15. I see. You were talking about a PICTURE FRAME.(I keed, specbrad. Please don't crush me.)
  16. Hey, now, don't shoot the messenger. I don't write this stuff. I just forward it on to rile the diehards of "that other baseball team in Chicago." But seriously, don't worry. You guys will win one someday. You probably won't be alive to see it, but you guys will win one...
  17. The Ex-Cub Factor is a widely published hypothesis that asserts that since the last appearance by the Chicago Cubs in the 1945 World Series, any baseball team headed into the World Series with three or more former Cubs on its roster has "a critical mass of Cubness" and a strong likelihood of failure. The theory was developed in 1981 by Ron Berler, a freelance journalist and Cubs fan. Since 1946, the theory had remained intact. Its only exception had been the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates, who had defeated the New York Yankees in a sudden-victory finish in Game 7. At that time, the Ex-Cubs Factor theo
  18. Yeah, good luck with that.Personally, I always loved the guy in St. Louis. Pulled a Willie Mays pretty much every other game in CF. That said, I may love him even more now...now that he's on the Cubs, that is. Same with Marquis (except I never really liked him then, just now).Did you ever consider that this sudden population of ex-Cards on their roster is the Cubs' way of trying to force the opposite of one of my favorite baseball facts? You know, the one about how no team in the history of the MLB has every won a World Series with 3 or more ex-Cubs on it?
  19. Correct. Right off of their main gaming floor.
  20. Navy could be hanging in a cardboard box behind Circus Circus with some perv clowns and I'd still want to party with this man. One word: chick magnet.IN.
  21. Can we all agree that:1) Both are awesome NLHE players in their own elements (PH=tourney, durrr=cash).2) Ranking them is like trying to rank the '86 Celtics vs. the '88 Lakers...you can, but not really.3) Both are douchebags who's social maturity has been SEVERELY stunted to the point that Hellmuth acts like he's 9 without realizing it and durrr acts like a homo without realizing it.4) We'd all trade places with a gay 9-year-old for durrr's early success and PH's collective success.
  22. I'd bet that's a pretty friggin' accurate read.And 2:1 that Player D's wife is involved somehow.
