lol drawingdeadDM. I remember a thread a long time ago where you defended NEVER folding KK preflop to the death. Do you still stand by that?

as long as you have the BR for it AND enough pride to move down when you need to, I say take a shot at the 22's. except know this, 150 sngs is random walk where ANY losing player can come out as a OMG 50% ROI I MUST BE PRO. btw, i'm the guy who 15-tables on stars

Daniel Never Talked About Stu Ungar Why?
mused01 replied to pokerlegend1's topic in General Poker Forum
someone ban mcd donk. it's obvious he's foxwoodspro. btw, don't measure our validity and integrity over a internet forum.we're just not as worked up over a internet user's opinion on someone we don't know and one that will have no effect in our lives one way or another.please, get a life.learn to respect other people's opinion. how do you know stu ungar was the "best poker player alive!11!111" Were you there to play with the man? Do you have ONE hand history? One hand he played? No, all you have are other people's OPINIONS to go by. You are an impressionist and a romantist that loves t -

When Did Cashing Become More Important Than Winning Sngs?
mused01 replied to MikeR's topic in General Strategy
the thing is, both types of plays are both right and wrong. you should be playing towards equity and pushing any +EV you have. well at least in the high levels you should. i guess in the $20+'s you shouldn't play too much towards small edges as your skill should give you better edges, but at 109+ and up, eveyrone basically knows what they're doing, so skills level out and the one that pushes the most edges win. that is why it's always best to play with equity always in mind and not "playing for first" or "making money". -
nice calls on both. maybe i'm just loosey goosey, but you have to make these calls.
-
i may be a donk but i can't believe you're actually advocating a fold here. you're short on BB, villian can be pulling this move with K high ( i would if my opponents were weak). you're just giving up too much equity here by folding. like ZeeJustin said, there are two kinds of people. One that advocates shooting for first, and the other that advocates shooting for the money. he then says they are both wrong and the right play should be playing with positive equity (as you should in any kind of poker). iono, maybe it is -ev to call here with the given chip stack (if someone could run it
-
basically, just get SnGPT and find all the +EV pushes you can make. you'll be suprised that even 8 3o is +EV at some blind levels and positions. you're losing money when you don't push marginal hands such as QJ K10 when blinds are big.
-
how so? I use pokerstove so much that I know which decisions are correct in many different situations since many of the situations are similar. now if i apply all the +EV pushes and moves I learned using pokerstove, how in the world would it not help me live? if you haven't noticed, many 2004 and 2005 WSOP events were dominated by internet specialists.EDIT: "unless you assimilate and learn when you use your tools."this is true and you acknowledge they can help. so wtf is this thread about.
-
easy fold.down I don't see him pushing this with AJ or KQ, hands that you are a dominating favorite. the rest of his hand range fall under coinflips and hands that dominate you. frankly, there are just better spots to risk all your chips.
-
what's with river bet lol. i'd check it after he calls my flop, bet but i'm pretty weak/tight when blinds are small. if i'm feeling frisky i'd push on the turn to shut out x-10 and QJ. btw, maybe he's just calling with ace high because you're screenanme is just so bad.EDIT: ew. what was i thinking pushing the turn. i'm terribly sorry and it won't happen again sir. check/fold the turn river haha.
-
thx for the post noman monad. I guess I have to go and pick up harrington's HoH2.
-
what?? folding here would be pretty weak. it's 785 to call and it's most likely a coin flip. you have a chance to knock somone out and increase your chipstack well over 20BB's. if you lose, you're still over 10 BB's. you have to call here.
-
what was the point for this thread? a cover up for a bad beat rant?
-
i'd call. based on the given chip stack structure, it's a safe call here. if you lose, you're still very much in the game and you'll have enough room to outplay people. if you call and win, so much the better. easy call.
-
lol people still read that book?btw i'd call. most likely you're ahead against a draw. maybe he has a strong flush/straight draw, but even then it's a coinflip. if he has it made (which is less likely) you still have outs. call.
