When do I slow down (if at all?) Reads are: BB is very aggro, has capped pf w/ AJo after raiser and 3bettor. MP is an idiot who calls/raises with any two cards.

  2. Your line looks good to me, but I get scared easy. I'm putting villain on a set here a lot of the time, but not enough to raise the river after a 3bet turn. Then again, what possible hands could he have that beat us that 3bet pf? AcKc, Ac9c? Does AXs 3bet against a steal from sb a lot at this level?

  3. Take this with a grain of salt, because I don't really play too much NL, but I hate this fold.If you're going to call this preflop, (which I think you should) why would you fold to a lead out on a great flop like this? It's very unlikely he has a 9 or a set, and I think overcards lead this often enough that you should call/push. Esp. shorthandedWith regards to bubble play, shouldn't you be more/same aggro @ bubble, as opposed to trying to fold into the money?

  4. I flop a gutshot + fd, take a weak line. Should I cap the flop? what about turn?PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comPreflop: Hero is SB with 7 :ts, 9 :4h1 fold, MP calls, 1 fold, Button calls, Hero calls, BB raises, MP calls, Button calls, Hero callsFlop: (8 SB) 5 :5c, 6 :club:, Q :3h(4 players)Hero checks, BB bets, MP calls, Button calls, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, 1 fold, Button calls, Hero callsTurn: (9 BB) J :qh(3 players)Hero checks, BB bets, Button calls, Hero calls

  5. So I originally thought this hand was standard, but I was rereading SSHE, specifically the part about playing overcards, and now I'm not so sure.In SSHE, there is an example given whereHero has :4h:club: in bb. Two players limp, sb completes, hero raises, all call (8sb)Flop is :ts:5c :3sSb Bets, hero raisesIn the example, sb is "aggressive and thinking player."Reasoning given for continuing: Pot is large, your overcards are relatively strong, board is fairly ragged, and you have a bd fd.Reasoning given for raising: sb is more likely to have a draw than usual (as an aggro player). Raising increases your winning chance. Is this situation different enough that raising here sucks? What if you are directly after the bettor?

  6. I recently started playing poker again, trying to get to profitable. Figured I'd post a hand. I'm interested in thoughts on all streets. No reads, first hand.PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comPreflop: Hero is CO with A :club:, A :D1 fold, MP raises, Hero (poster) 3-bets, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold, MP callsFlop: (10 SB) A :4h, 5 :3h, 3 :ts(3 players)SB bets, 1 fold, Hero callsTurn: (6 BB) 4 :5c(2 players)SB bets, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, Hero callsRiver: (12 BB) 6 :qh(2 players)SB bets, Hero callsTotal pot: $7 (14 BB) | Rake: $0.30

  7. MP is a huge donkey, limps w/ a lot of crap pf, bluffs all the way w/ nothing, seems to call down when raised. My read isn't that strong, only 30 hands, but Villain has been bluffing a ton, and calling down with nothing a lot.Hero is CO w/ J :icon_suit_club: J :icon_suit_heart: pf:UTG folds, MP raises, Hero 3-bets, Button folds, SB caps, BB folds, MP caps, Hero calls, SB calls.flop: 2 :icon_suit_club: 10 :icon_suit_diamond: 8 :icon_suit_heart: (3 players)(13 sb)sb checks, MP bets, Hero raises, sb folds, MP 3-bets, Hero ?I was conflicted here whether or not to cap, call and raise turn, or just call down.Even knowing MP is fairly maniacal, I have never seen him cap when 3-bet (only 2 hands he was 3betted though), and his continued aggression scares me. It screams overpair or set to me. Not sure though.

  8. Prefaced by saying I'm a newbie.Hand 1: I play the same. Extremely connected flop, I assume I'm behind and c/fHand 2: I fold the turn. Even getting 11.5 to one, you only have overcards, which might not even be clean.Hand 3: I fold the river. What could villain possibly have that you beat?

  9. Against AA,KK you have 22% equity.
Against KK you have 50% equity. Unless I'm missing something.Anyone here who is taking time to figure out when to fold Kings to Aces is wasting their time. Almost certainly, we all have much, much larger leaks than getting all in preflop kk vs. aa. And if this really a legitimate concern for any of you, you should tp/mm.If you have such a ridiculously solid read on someone, you must be in-fucking-credible.
  10. Villain is new to the table, no reads4 handedhero has 4 :D 9 :club: in BBCO folds, Button calls, SB folds, Hero checks(2.5 small bets)flop (2 players): A :D 3 :D 5 :)Hero bets, Hero callsIs there a problem with my line here? I thought I could 1. get fold equity 2. value? with gutshot, flush draw, possible overcard?(3.25 big bets)turn (2 players): K :heart:Hero checks, Button bets, Button callsVillain paused a long time before calling. I c/red because I thought Villain might continue to bet if I didn't bet. I would probably have called down if 3-bet, but it's probably a fold. I think my line here sucks, donk betting is probably more sound, as it looks more like a bluff, and people fold to the c/r more. Almost any flush beats me, and I think only a flush calls me here?(7.25 big bets)river (2 players): 6 :spade:Hero checks...I thought only a low flush would call the turn, so I checked, planning on calling a bet just in case.I really need work on my heads up post flop hands.

  11. I think raising the flop is a good idea. If the player is a loose passive and 3-bets, you are probably behind, and may be able to lay this down on the turn (depending on the strength of read as well as pot odds.)I don't know, though, because I find it really hard to lay down overpairs.

  12. Preflop looks OK to me.Turn is somewhat read dependent: Bet/fold is ok against a loose passive player who doesn't bluff raise. Check/call is better against aggressive players. Check/fold sucks. Why give him credit for a K? If checked to on a dangerous board, a lot of players will bet with nothing.Read replies:Is bet/call better than check/call? I like check/call better, but I don't really know..

  13. I think too many people are misunderstanding the OP.1.) He is NOT playing 10/20 with a $1k br. He is saying that he buys in for $1k, which is an insignificant part of his br.2.) He feels he can make a larger profit at higher limits. He has played at small stakes, not necessarily as a losing player, but thinks he can win more at higher stakes, and won't have as many suckouts.3.) Table selection is the key. He's playing at tables with crappy players, and not a lot of good players.GL to OP. Have fun playing 10/20.I'll keep grinding out micro-limits where I can actually win.
