Yeah but females are lucky enough to carry the seed. This was pretty amusing. I had to look up how it is that they do it with the shells seemingly in the way. Why is it that most animal sex seems to be good for the boy animal and tolerable for the girl animal? Poor girl animals. -
Yeah. I think the MVP should be based on the entire Post Season, like in hockey.
Well they also award CS MVP's, which is dumb, but they do. Howard and Sabathia got those. If one player got it for the entire postseason, it would be much more prestigious.I like that idea. -
A THRILLA BY GODZILLA!!!!

Andy looked a bit shaky as well. If this becomes an early night for both bullpens, the Yanks have an immense lead. And as I write that ARod gets a 4 pitch walk!!! Pedro is f*cked....Pedro did not look good in the first, despite the 1-2-3 inning. All of his pitches looked flat. Hopefully he just needed to get warmed up and get the adrenaline pumping. -
Your friend hijacked that line. Except it was originally said using Al Qaeda. Whatev.I cant wait for this game. Everyone is talking about whether Pettite will be able to pitch well tonight, in my mind Pedro is much more of a liability, if he gets knocked out in the 4th or 5th, the Phillies have very little chance to win. Also I think ARod is going to have a very special night, and win himself an MVP.My friend said if the Yankees played the Osama Bin Ladens he would put on a turban and root for the Bin Ladens -
Well wether he "has to" throw it or not doesnt matter, fact is he didnt throw, and the reason he didnt was Damon being on 3rd. So, no I would not say the steal was overrated.I thought the Damon steal of 3rd was over rated. Lidge has to throw his slider, period...if carlos doesn't block it you lose but if he deson't throw it you lose anyway.
Damon made an excellent heads up play, but it was more than that, I heard Larry Boa on the radio this morning and apparently he and Damon used to talk about that possibility being available, so he was looking for that. Additionally, you cant say it didnt matter because Arod hit that double ostensibly because he was getting fastballs he wouldnt have gotten had Damon not been there.I HATE pitching Burnett tonight in Game 5!! Should be Gaudin, and AJ at home in Gm 6.Teixiera was at the plate. He is a dead pull hitter as a lefty so most teams employ a shift against him. That was the 3rd baseman covering the steal at second. Damon made a very heads up play.....although it didnt really matter much since A-Rod smacked a double off the wall anyway (and Damon would have scored from 2nd easily on it of course). -
I disagree that Hamels and Pettite are evenly matched.

Or maybe he's like Hellmuth, "They just keep trying to give me their money."OMG I guess they did not get the sarcasm of my comment. So slow -
Somali Pirate is one of those costumes that no matter how good you pull it off people are going to ask what you are. In my case, they'll know just by looking at me... an idiot!!!

Oh my God, Im so pumped up waiting for this damn series. Im going to be in Philly Saturday night partying for Halloween, its my girlfriends hometown, I really dont know how Im going to be able to handle it. How does anyone feel about the Phillies pitching Martinez in game 2? I think its a big mistake, and I think he gets pulled in the 3rd or 4th inning. His success in the regular season came against some pretty weak teams, he hasnt pitched in a while, and I think he is ripe to get hammered.

When you point a gun at someone, as far as they know, you are threatening their life, and they should act accordingly. The intention is irrelevant.Suppose the gun had no bullets in it? Did he deserve to die?Yes.Suppose he never intended to shoot anyone but just wanted their money, did he deserve to die?Yes.Suppose the people there just handed over their money and he left without harming anyone, did he deserve to die?Yes.Was it better for the granny to take a shot then risk finding out? Yes but to say that he "deserved" to die without knowing his intent (would he have killed someone) or motivations (starving family, kid needs operation) would be to assume a lot. Yes. -
I specifically referred to starters because the Phillies 4 starters in the post season have a combined ERA of 3.75, the Yankee 3 starters are 2.7. And my theory is that they have not faced hitting as good as the Yankees. I.E. starters will be exiting games earlier and pressuring the bullpen more. We'll see if that bullpen holds up. Incidentally, the top 6 Phillies relievers have an ERA of 4.17 (this doesnt include Pedro, as he is included in the starters), and top 6 Yankee relievers are 2.43. But like I said, we'll just have to wait and see.Do you really think their pitching is a problem? Cliff Lee has been the best pitcher in the post season. With Hamels, and the ability to plug Happ, Pedro, and Blanton as they see fit, I think to argue against a staff that clearly has flexibility to go along with quality may be futile. -

Yes I have been watching the NL playoffs, and the Phillies have been very good, no question. I just have two points:-The Dodgers arent nearly the team the Angels are, so while they rolled over them, I cant believe they would have that to the Angels.-The Phillies have excellent hitting but the Yankees have the best hitting in the league. Where I think we ultimately win out is starting pitching (obviously AJ is highly questionable), the Phillies dont have one starter that won more than 12 games this season. I suppose it all comes down to who shows up, I guess thats why they play the games. We shall seeHitting stats: Team LEAGUE G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 1. New York Yankees AL 162 5660 915 1604 325 21 244 881 2703 663 1014 111 28 .362 .478 .283 2. Philadelphia Phillies NL 162 5578 820 1439 312 35 224 788 2493 589 1155 119 28 .334 .447 .258ARod has been great; the Phillies have three guys with a playoff OPS above 1100. Have you not been watching the NL playoffs?I'm not saying I think the Phillies will win, but it seems odd to say that the reigning world champs who have been rolling over teams these playoffs won't put up much of a fight.
Amen. That AB was PITIFUL!!!The question is, you start CC or Andy if no game Saturday night? The Phillies are going to be a difficult team. We can beat them, but we're going to have to play our best to beat them. We're going to need to have everybody in the lineup hitting (yes, Swisher, that means you too!). We're going to need AJ to have a strong start. We're going to need Hughes to be dominant, and we're going to need Joba to be the old Joba out of the bullpen. -
The Yankees are so dominant right now, I just cant see the Phillies or the Dodgers putting up much of a fight. I hope Burnett can seal the deal tomorrow night. WS: Yankees in 5.

Care to comment on the bolded, sir?Negreanu Talks About the All-Time Poker Money LeadSecond-Place Finish at WSOPE Launched Him into All-Time Leadby Stephen A. Murphy | Published: Oct 13, 2009 | E-mail Author Print-pageBookmarkDaniel NegreanuThree WSOP final tables and two second-place finishes in a single year, more than $1 million in 2009 winnings, a nationally syndicated TV show with him as the star, and a photo in ESPN The Magazine with him wearing just his briefs. On paper, it looks like 2009 has been quite a year for Daniel Negreanu. And while it’s hard to argue with his successes, those who follow “Kid Poker” know that it’s been a trying time for the superstar. With his mother dealing with a scary situation in her recovery from a stroke, Negreanu has had a tumultuous year. Those emotions caught up to the four-time bracelet winner following his runner-up finish in London at the World Series of Poker Europe main event earlier this month.More than a week removed from that impressive but disappointing second-place finish, Negreanu took out some time to talk to Card Player about the WSOPE and his new all-time tourney winnings record.Stephen A. Murphy: You came in second in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year — an impressive result, for sure, but one that had to come with some disappointment. Looking back on it, what’s your take on that finish?Daniel Negreanu: Well, you know, I was pretty much OK with it fairly quickly after it all happened. There was a lot of drama from a television perspective … in the way the cards came out. I felt really good about the whole tournament and how well I played. Obviously, this would’ve been the fifth bracelet, and I felt really unlucky in heads-up matches this year. This was my second second-place finish for a bracelet. But one of my goals for this year was to gain the No. 1 spot on the all-time money list, and I did that with the second-place finish.Daniel NegreanuSM: In a recent blog, you mentioned that you got a little emotional after the event, thinking about your mother and the fight she has within her. Can you tell me a little bit about how she shaped who you are?DN: Both of my parents really shaped who I am. They’re both really kind and generally nice people, very generous — unless you cross them. And I think I’m a lot like that.My mother taught me what it is to really love somebody, to go above and beyond what’s been required as a friend or as a family member. My mother is the most unselfish person that I’ve ever met.SM: You came into that WSOPE final table as the short stack, and no one can deny that you played a masterful final table to get heads up. How frustrating or disappointing is it to play so well and still finish second?DN: Well, it’s very frustrating. In my heads-up match, I played for like seven hours straight or something…Every time I got down, I felt like I was able to claw my way back, but every time I did, something bad would happen.I look back on it, and there’s really nothing I would’ve done differently.SM: There’s been some talk recently about how the WSOP Europe matches up with the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, in terms of the value of the bracelets and the prestige of both main events. How do you compare the two?DN: Obviously, the main event in Las Vegas is the bracelet to win. It’s the most talked about and it’s the most covered [by the media]. But it’s obviously difficult to win against thousands of players …But at the World Series of Poker Europe, at my first table, there were nine winning players at the table. You never, ever, ever have that at the World Series of Poker main event. People in the main event make a lot of mistakes. In the WSOP Europe, you have to force them to make mistakes. It’s a different brand of poker. The WSOP Europe main event is without a doubt the toughest annual no-limit hold’em field in the world, bar none.SM: There were a lot of storylines in the WSOPE main event this year — from two members of the 2009 November Nine making the final table, to Barry and Jeff Shulman each making main-event final tables, to your pursuit of the all-time money lead — but one storyline that got lost a little bit was the fact that this was your second straight year to make the WSOPE main-event final table. Where does that rank among your poker accomplishments?DN: Oh boy, I don’t know where it ranks, but it’s not No. 1. That was 2004. (Editor’s Note: Negreanu won nearly $4.5 million in 2004, winning the Five-Diamond World Classic for $1.77 million and the Borgata Poker Open for 1.18 million, while making five WSOP final tables and winning one bracelet.)SM: With your recent WSOPE result, you move into first on the all-time tournament money list. That means no one has made more money than you at tournament poker. What emotions did you feel when you realized that you had that distinction?DN: Well, that is something that I am proud of, especially with the way that I got there compared to some of the other people on that list, like Jamie Gold, whose winnings were all from winning the main event. The winnings that I have come from over the years, winning year in and year out. I guess in 2004 I made like $4.5 million, but that was an anomaly. So, I’m really proud of the way that I got there.Phil IveySM: Obviously Phil Ivey has a chance to break that record considerably in November. Are you going to be rooting for him or against him to break your record?DN: I’m not rooting for him to break my record; I’m rooting for him to win the whole thing. He’s a friend of mine, and I know he’s the best poker player in the world, so it’d be great if the best poker player in the world actually won poker’s biggest prize.SM: In lighter news, you recently shed your clothes to participate in ESPN the Magazine’s Body Issue. Tell me a little bit about this experience.DN: Going in, everyone was like, ‘Are we really doing this?’ I was uneasy about it at first, I actually said no the first two times. But it’s not like they were going to have Patrik Antonius or Gus there. So basically I said, ‘I can fit in with this group.’SM: Tell me a little bit about what was going through your head when you were actually on set. Were you nervous at all?DN: I wasn’t nervous, because I’ve been working out, and I look good in briefs, anyway. And Jennifer, I’ve seen her naked before, no big deal. It was really quite comfortable.I worked out. I had a nice tan going. I sucked my belly in, and I was good to go.SM: So you’ve seen Jennifer naked before? That’s probably news to a lot of our readers.DN: Yeah, we’re like best friends, so it was no big deal.(Read Card Player’s article about the photo shoot.)Whether it’s posing nearly naked for ESPN or starring on his own TV show, poker fans can expect to continue to see a lot of Daniel Negreanu in the years ahead. If its past history is any indication, they will certainly see him at a lot of final tables.Negreanu currently sits in eighth place in Card Player’s Player of the Year race for 2009. He won the award in 2004. -
No way, its Jennifer, she's a serious poker player. According to what Daniel said, this is going to be eye candy with a bit of poker knowlege. I say Shana or that CP chick who does the interviews (I hope its her).jennifer harman -
dieYankee fans don't deserve ARod.The Dodgers and Matt Holliday say hi. (Please note that I'm not saying I think the Dodgers will win, just that they probably have a better "greater force" argument.) -
