Huck is also the only big name pro that is 'Thuglife'. You got to love that!

T8. He has T8 more than likely. Pay it off. Call and get rivered by the 4-outer like a man.

My experience is that a long pause by an OOP player indicates a weak hand. He wants to make you think that he's thinking about betting but he's looking for you to check and is probably on a draw.Could be completely off, but a bet here usually gets a fold or a chk raise, either way you got a lot of info about the player.

Not worth it. Its actually worse when you sit and think you've 'fooled everyone' and the next thing you know you look down and see an AQ, and just when you decide to put in a small raise, a hand is laid on your shoulder you turn your head to see two uniformed security guards staring at you and a poker room manager staring at your chips. The next thing you know they're pushing you out of the room and you are in a panic because you dont know whats happening to your children. Not worth it.PS. You never see your children again.

Well said.My money is on that little bast**d the played heads up with Freddie Deeb somewhere in the Carribean, Josh Something!!Has a woman ever FTed? Sorry but breasts and final tables have a long way to go, but when they're a regular...watch out!!Um, Smash... surely you realize that finishing out of the money two years in a row is far less indicative of suckitude than finishing in the money two years in a row is of kickassness. That is to say, neither Negreanu nor Raymer are donks. -
Which is the best MTT running on a Saturday?Where is the best (juiciest) 1-2 NL game played?Where should I play 10-20 LHE, should I venture down that dark tunnel?Im going this Saturday! Thanks

This is the actual conversation. Dont you know its all a conspiracy?actually the lamest, most childish OP i've seen in a while. I do like to imagine the following scenario, however:Phone to daniel: Daniel, the FCP site messed up a couple times for some dude in jerseyDaniel: MUhahaha my plot to take over the poker world is slowly but surely coming to fruition. This peon doesnt know the chain reaction he will have inadvertently set off culmintating with my being crowned the supreme exhaulted ruler of poker. My straights will never again lose to flushes! I will never lose another hand again!!!!!!!!!! -
HAHA Bravo sir, youve put me in my place.Did you wake up this morning and think, I know, I will go hi-jack a thread with my bad beat stories... I dont fancy your chances of making it to 200

4-Tabling NL lastnight I got completely busted and had to reload 3x, and I didnt tilt a bit in the knowledge that my plays were superb and what cause me to operate a cash register on any other night.Bust #1: CR all-in with AK to a A high flop and get called by AQ. Result = Q turned.Bust #2: Reraised all-in with QQ at a J77 flop and get called by AJ. Result = J turned.Bust #3: Reraised all-in with TT at a QT8 flop and get called by JJ. Result = K turned, A rivered.I feel very good!

I was thinking about this story last night....this just cannot be true. I am a fan of DN but Im not gonna believe anything just cause his name is attached to it. How could anyone, for any reason, anywhere, four-bet in a game as small as 10/20 with 7-high? This just seems too rediculous. Somone has to agree, right? DN can you confirm this story? One of my favorite stories about Daniel which also gives an insite into his skills comes from a house game I had in my basement. The game was $10/$20 and daniel and this guy george had been butting heads all night.George was super agressive and loved playing. At one point in the evening they get heads up in a hand - 4 betting preflopI cant recall the board but the meat of what happened I cant forget. The flop was rags - george bets, daniel goes $20, George $30, daniel $40, george calls. On the turn - George checked, Daniel bet, George $40, Daniel $60, George $80, Daniel calls. At this point Daniel shows me his hand - he is holding 7 high. He says to me:"I am LEADING!....unless a 5 hits, I win this pot"Well, sure enough a 5 hits the river - Geroge bets, Daniel folds.George turns his hand over.Daniel was ahead with 7 high and got rivered by a 5. -
I agree.Remember that whenever someone incorrectly (pot odds-wise) calls you, you make money, regardless of the outcome. You have to play the numbers here. That said, don't forget to play the man. Apply what you know of the numbers to what you know of the man and you should get the best outcome. Just playing the numbers though, will net you money over the long run. Furthermore, I adjust for limits. If you're playing .50/1 NLHE I generally raise more than is necessary because the players are worse and the actual dollar amount 'seems' insignificant to a typical donk. I usually get the incorrect call anyway...Ahhhhh, isn't this why we love poker?Play the percentages...not the results.

This is a great thread. If there are anymore stories please share. Thanks

I use the television as my timer, 'When this show is over, Im done: up, down, or even.' Helps me tp avoid thinking in terms of 'this session' and just play my hands. Remember the golden rule:IT'S ALL ONE LONG SESSION

Thanks for the serious reply.Sometimes I can go ages without suffering a bout of tilt, and I'll think 'Wow, maybe Ive advanced passed the point of tilt.' But it always comes back and I have to institute a cool down period, where I take a day or two off. Its the time between the tilt starting and getting a grip of myself that is most damaging however. I like to think that I am a fairly resilient person in matters of life but it seems that poker requires a completely different type of resiliency. The bottom line is that I am starting to think that confidence, almost to the point of arrogance, is required.Serious Answer to the OP. I think it takes a tremendous amount of skill and determination, self-confidence, drive and competitiveness are all very important traits. You also need a support system of some sort to deal with the lows and keep you grounded during the highs. As far as DN is concerned I think his happy go lucky personality really benefits him. He's not the type to get depressed and down on himself (or at least it seems that way) and I think that very helps. One of my biggest weaknesses as a poker player is the fact that I do have a tendency to get down on myself. at times. I think that tendency can be very detrimentalt to long-term success. -

Um, not really you could get through week one, which is only two days of poker, then you are there for a week already and youre only at day 3. Now you have 7 days to go, to FT. A) Youre not getting on TV for days 4,5,6 B) I guess youre implying that if I get to day 3 I'll be able to quit my job? How many millions is the payout for 1342nd?Just a thought, but if you actually qualified for the Main Event and made it to the 2nd week, I would tend to let my boss know me could keep an eye on me on ESPN. Seriously, if after hypotheically making it to the 2nd week, you are still actually concerned about your job implications 3 months in the future, you will not even have a shot at making the Main Event. -
Well as my problem follows the concerns of this thread I will pose another question:I know there are tons of satellites and ways to get into the ME but I am reluctant to play any because I do have a real job. When the ME was a week you could take a week off work to go to Vegas to play but now you have to take two weeks off! Its just not doable for most people that want to play and, ya know, retain their -ev real job.In retrospect, this isnta a question at all but just a rant.... sorry...

I've been thinking lately about what kind of personality it takes to be a poker pro/winner/career player. It would seem that it would take a rather obsessive person to be a grinder. To hit it everyday, stay disciplined, take the losses knowing that wins are coming, disappointment, self-doubt, ups, downs, criticism, and praise. Among other things you would have to be extremely resilient. Have tons of confidence in what your goal is and your method of achieving it. And basically be consumed by the desire to win, and I mean win big, which is where I get obsessive from. Take DN, this guy was a nobody playing cards in Toronto, now he's a multi-millionaire without a care in the world. If he wanted to he could drop everything today and live the rest of his life like a king. Is that the goal? Does he need poker anymore? Does poker need him more than he needs it?Anyway, what I want to know is what kind of determination/personality traits did it take for him to get there. I cant believe that it was all laughs and golfing and video games during his struggle to becoming the master he is today. What I do know is that just about all of us would like to get there, and I feel that it may be that certain personality types are more suited for the achievement.

I am a UB regualr and dont know what to make of UB bringing BJ. How bout Stud 'Em! Its basically hold em but every player gets their own board. Combines the best of stud and HE. After the PF betting everyone gets their own flop, turn, river and so on.

Were you hoping to get in a limp-reraise?? I know you dont divulge but I would be pretty interested to know who checked that river to you. I suspect that putting you on a complete missed hand, they were expecting to raise your bluff. Unfortunately, for him, you had a hand that had a chance to win at showdown, I guess.
