  1. He's been doing it for a year, what's the limit?
That's a very good question, and I agree that the whole comparison to Bush thing is very tired. You should get Obama to stop doing it- when's the last time he hasn't whined about "this is my inherited problem?" The difference is this- I knew a month in Bush wasn't the brightest, I also knew that he wanted the best for American citizens, and much of how he believes, I believe. Lower taxes. Freedom of choice unless you fell like killing an innocent, and yes that includes unborn babies. Keep America safe against enemies. Try and not **** up what we got going, you know? Him not being the brightest wasn't an issue. In comes Obama, and he is pretty much the anti-Bush in every aspect, and now we have a problem, because it's not just on a personal IQ level it's on an ideological level. Which should be expected, he's a Dem, except he is so far to the extreme it's tough to keep up. It's like every day is a rapid succesion of "WTF?" I mean, we are just digesting the whole AIG non-story and while that hub-bub dies down we find out he's trying to figure out ways to get vets to pay for there own treatment, and while I say "WTF?" the whole world doesn't notice because they are talking about the flavor of the week non-story, then, while the non-story still has em steaming Timay comes out and talks about legislation to start just taking over companies that the Government deems to big to fail yet they deem they must be failing and I say "WTF?" and since everyone is so angry at companies they don't care, this must be a good thing. Then, still another story comes out with detailed Obama thoughts on limiting executive compensation, and not just for companies that have received Government funds. Again, "WTF?" So, all of these things going on, you would think that him directly making fun of retards would be an issue, right? Nope- it's just an opportunity to see how words hurt, brought to you by Lord Obama. I ****ing give up.
  2. Oh come on, it was a stupid mistake by Obama, but every single President says stupid things by accident. I mean, do you not remember that W. was like the king of bad quotes? I don't think there's ever much 'outrage' nor should there be. When cameras are on you 10 hours a day every day all year, you're gonna say some thing that probably you would rather not broadcast on national tv.Some funny Bush ones - This one isn't offensive or dumb or anything, it's just damn funny.Likewise:Actually most of his best ones fall in that category:[Karl Rove, to himself: Where wings take dream? Dammit W. stick to the talking points.]One more zinger:Oh...
Oddly, none of those are in any way, shape, or form offensive to anyone. Bush was dumb- Obama is an *******. How does anyone not get that?
  3. I had this in white, and my brother had almost this exact bike except we both had white Mags and pegs. I gave mine to a kid who didn't have a bike when I was in High School. I really wish I had kept it now, because they are worth a lot of money.zblack.jpg_633_lg.jpg
If I had half the shit I gave away as a kid..sigh. Right now I have a Schwinn Predator Freeform I am working on and I just bought a 97ish Dave Mirra Pro on Craigslist for next to nothing, in really great shape. I noticed the pic was from BMX Museum, I love that site. Just got a line on a decent Dyno Detour setup that may be my next project. We'll see. Now that I know you are interested I will send you pics of finished products, before and after when I get a chance.
  4. About a month ago I noticed that one of my former students was on an emotional rollercoaster. After having a discussion with him I realized that his primary happiness and sadness stemmed from his poker results. This is one of the biggest problems with playing poker. Whether you are playing purely recreationally or you are a high stakes pro, nobody likes to lose. I've been "lucky" in a lot of ways to have David Oppenheim as one of my mentors. David is known for having a bit of a temper at the poker table. After watching him play for a ridiculous amount of hours, I came to two conclusions. Even when he is angry at the table he still plays well. And when he leaves the table, he leaves the results there as well. I talked with him about this concept a few years ago, because I was struggling with leaving my results in the casino. He didn't give me an elaborate answer. He simply explained that when he is done playing, he doesn't think about it anymore.Fortunately for Dave he is insanely talented, has a wonderful wife and three kids. Lives in a mansion and has just about anything a person could want. So it might be easier for him to not let his losses get him down. The only way that I know for a person to be able to have success in poker, is to have a stable life outside of poker. Most of us probably don't live in mansions. But having a home that you feel comfortable in, good friends, hobbies, etc. This is what will get you through the tough times. And this is what will also enable you to leave your results at the casino. Or for most of you......online. In my opnion, in a lot of ways this is even more difficult for online players. Your computer is in your house and you can hop back into a game at any point. And without discipline and a strong base of friends/activities........your life can be consumed by poker. Even worse, your happiness will be dictated by your results. I don't have a quick fix solution to this problem. I can tell you that if you find things that you enjoy besides poker and build lasting relationships with those around you, the results won't matter as much.In the end, don't ever let your results dictate your happiness. If you do, you will have a miserable life, regardless of how successful you are.Good Luck.Steve
Might just have to apply next go round to work with you, this is really good. FWIW, I make pants and restore old bmx bikes as a hobby. Well, I don't make the pants as much as take the pants and embellish them.. that's a bad term, I don't like that. Let's say I make the pants better. Like, with skulls and leopard print and flames. Recently I have found that I handle the game much better playing at Casinos vs. Online, for the very fact that it's easier to walk away mentally. What happens at the Casino, stays at the Casino. Thanks for the great post, Steve.
  5. ...and I do understand your frustration. It is very much akin to what I was feeling beginning in 92 and that got even worse when Clinton was re-elected. That was when I really got into guns. I told my father that I wanted to just cash out and find a place in the World to insulate myself from where I felt the world was headed. So, yeah, I get what you're saying and feeling. Your self definition is threatened by where you see the World heading. But surrendering to the temptation of giving up would be a waste. Life is long and has ups and downs. Don't shut down.
Oh, I am not giving up, just staying prepared. If you look at the world and think, X, X or X is a real possibility and I am not prepared, I think it behooves you to prepare, that's all, and maybe I should have been prepared all along, and am just pissed because now I feel I HAVE to. I just want have plans in place if I need to bug out and take care of what I care about.
  6. This kind of thinking is exactly why there is a traffic problem in L.A.
Not to mention that kind of spelling is what's wrong with public schooling. Why would anybody be all up in arms because someone in government is not qualified? Our president is not qualified, and nearly everyone he chooses. People not being qualified for damn near anything is a huge prob in government. That being said, this gentleman evidently believes in creation and a God of some sort. Big deal- most of you generally argue that evolution does not disprove God, anyway, so why whine about it? At some point you guys just come out looking prejudiced against anyone who doesn't follow your tune, which is it's own problem, is it not?
  7. Apologies for the insensitive thread name, Fleur (see, I AM a real liberal -- I felt guilty and apologized). I'm actually quite the internationalist, relatively speaking -- all my magazines come from overseas and I've been dicking around with an idea for public television about a show to educate Americans regarding third-world issues.Dude, you have totally got to rent _In Bruges_, with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleason. Everybody should. It features the angriest, most racist, most whore-mongering, most stoned, and of course funniest elf/midget/little person in all moviedom. Phenomenal movie.Years ago, the Zippy the Pinhead strip was predicting 'Zac and Jack, Jack Daniels and Prozac. I could totally see Viagra cocktails. [in truth, we should probably all be having statin cocktails, but what fun is that?]My bar menu would have absinthe 'n' LSD, and beer 'n' shrooms. [i should start a thread in OT -- absinthe is once again available with wormwood, and I LOVE it! Love, love, love it.]
    I'll add it to Netflix.
  8. That article blows me away."I'm not going to answer that question. I am a Christian, and I don't think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate,"this is a notion that our society has to move past. Yes you have a religion, and you are entitled to practice it, but we do have a right to question it. Just because he is Christian he acts as if he should not be questioned, but you are the Minister of SCIENCE and you're refusing to answer question about fundamental science that is taught to children in the name of religion? This is absolutely unacceptable. If he can't prioritize his functions as cabinet Minister above his personal beliefs then he shouldn't hold the position he has. We live in a secular state, your religion should not have any effect on the way you govern. His beliefs are preventing him from acknowledging FACTS. He is rejecting science because of his personal beliefs, I respect that choice for regular people, but as a society how can let a man with these ideologies be our minister of science?
I like your lose interpetation of facts. It's literally how a guy like Obama gets elected.
  9. Why isn't this ******* banned? This crap is not funny or clever or ironic. It's just shameful and stupid.
Actually, it's already being done on a pretty large scale, and done so well they think it's a benefit!! They think they are loved, cared for, nurtured, understood, while the whole time they are used. So, in that way, not only is it clever in that the joke is it's already happening and some are to stupid to see it, it's also very intuitive and smart.
  10. a little dramatic, arent we?
I had been planning the gun shopping for awhile. Also quietly socking away money for a decent boat just in case we need to take to the seas at some point. My Hyundai Santa Fe, while not ideal in my mind but will have to do, houses non-perishable food items and water in every nook and cranny it can fit, and we all have bags packed with essentials just in case we need to move pronto. Obviously precautionary, but I do not doubt the idea that at some point things may get completely out of hand for a myriad of reasons and survival of the fittest may be the order of the day. What are you gonna do, sarcastically quip your way out of your troubles? I think not my friend.
  11. You had Dodd include the bonuses for fear of lawsuits but congressional action to tax them 90 plus percent will bring no lawsuits? In other news, I went gun shopping yesterday. I cannot justify not being prepared for what very well may be a fight with my own government at some point. Luckily, I have an uncanny ability to compartmentalize and do what should be done in the moment, with no real regret. Crazy talk? Maybe. I don't know. I just am fairly certain that government by the people, for the people, has to at some point be a real concept, even if by force. So, this thread can be about my new militia or it can be about what a ****ing huge smokescreen this all is. I don't care, i'm just pissed. Satisfied with my 2 new shotguns, though, some sort of hunting rifle is next and few easy to handle handguns. Let's rock, bitches.

  12. I make no such assumption, nor does the Catholic Church. I will not acknowledge that thier truth is or is not the genuine truth. I only acknowledge that there is a geniune truth. I dont' believe an athiest can be right about the truth at the same time as a Christian. If one is correct the other has to be incorrect. Could a person geniunely seek the truth and long for justice but come to the conclusion through his life experience that there is no God? Yes, I think that is possible.
I 100% agree. If it's genuine, that is what his or hers hearts desire is, he will find the truth. Whether or not he listens is another story.
