Marchione,I will be in Christchurch for the NZ Champs that week but will be in Melb directly after, likely afew days before the Melb champs begin if i decide not to come back to Sydney for a day or 2.

I have come across many Aussies contributing to this forum and was wondering mabye it would be a good idea to have a get together at the upcoming Melbourne Champs held at Crown. Not too sure about when or where but just throwing the idea out there to gauge interest. It would nbe nice to put some faces to the names and meet many of you. if you are attending any of the events or even considering it, post in this thread and a few of us can possibly get together and organise something. We have about 4 weeks and i wanted to at least get the ball rolling as early as possible.

With the button being as your described i hate cold calling preflop. You play right into his hands by doing this, and he will win each pot when you dont hit the flop and also get away from his hands cheaply when you do hit. Reraise to 18 preflop and lead all flops.As played the only way to play this hand is as if you are way ahead or way behind. You want to extract as much value from hands you beat while losing the min when your behind (not very often).

Bet flop. Slow down if called. If you are way way way ahead or way way way behind.

The factn that he min raises your lead should result in you tagging him as a weak player. Noone who knows anything about playing NL HE would minraise a leader on that flop.Anyway, you lead with the intention of bet/3 betting so do just that. Stack sizes are important here but whatever, raise a little more, more like to 42 and call a push.

Overbet push. If you bet 90-100 he is only calling with a queen anyway so you may as well overbet push and maximise your gain. Betting out a tiny amount to get called by 2 pair hands is pretty bad as you let a lone queen off cheaply. Also by over bet pushing you may sometimes find a donkey who will put you on a missed flush and call you with top 2.

Calling this river is clear spew.

Sorry but you played like a donk and a good player watching this at the table would be ready to explot you in every possible way when he has you in this spot. You were lucky that villain was a donkey.

Guys who are saying you are repping a big pocket pair could not be more wrong. If you had KK and the turn repeated the T and you bet it hard and were called, would you still fire hard on the river? I freaking hope not.If you bet villain calls the his 5 if he has any clue about putting guys on a hand. You are repping a boat or a naked T and every other time you 3 barrel this board you have air.

Check calling turn is fine and firing out a small blocker on the river good. This is kind of a boring spot and your aim is to keep the pot as small as possible.

Pretty sick spot to be honest. I am not worried about the BB as he can have straight draws and 2 pair here often enough, however i am worried about UTG as TT and JJ make up a huge part of his range. Do we know what UTG does with AA here?I call with so much money in the pot and already 200 of our own stack in there, and i put it down to a cooler if we are beat. I just can't find a fold here for 300 odd dollar with botton set. Possible for 200bb total i may think about it for this this amount i sigh and stick it in.

I would reraise 100% of the time. What you do depepnds on your style and what you do with 99 and 78 of clubs here also.

Turn is criminal and you have paid the price. In fact i am going to be harsh and say that if you want to make that ridiculous bet on the turn then you deserve to lose your stack here with 1 pair. You know he is drawing and yet you make a nothing bet on the turn? Why? It is obvious you know what the right play is yet you still go ahead and play it poorly. Protect your hand. Bet 60 on turn.

If we know he has a big hand why not use our position and check behind on the flop for a free card? Use his slow playing against him, dont play into his hands.

Fold preflop.If you must call preflop then you must also go broke on this flop. Call his reraise and then check push any turn. At least make some money out of AK to make up for the times he has AQ or QQ.

The T is not actually a scare card for him as if he thought his hand was good on the flop then he feels better about it now because there is less chance you have a T in your hands. Also he knows that if you have an overpair the T is a scare card for you and you won't be firing 3 barrels. So if you fir 3 barrels here what could you have? Other than a T or a set nothing else but air 3 abrrels this board so if villain has any idea at all he is calling you down with AK high here.To answer your question give up. Check folding turn is also not a bad idea as you have nothing and are OOP.

Calling is bad because there are no safe turn cards so you will still have no idea where you stand. You will need to hit a T to feel confident. What do you do is a 6, JQKA or spade hitns turn and villain fires again? Can't do much more other than fold so i prefer making our decision on the flop rather than spewing a a bet hoping villain not only misses but also checks to us and then misses the river and checks to us again because we cant call any more big bets unless we make a boat. It's just a tough spot to be in and folding the flop avoids all that for very little oppurtunity cost.

Smooth calling that flop is criminal. All in or fold with my vote going for folding simply because you will be up against a bigger flush draw most of the time here in a multiway pot. Pushing may fold the bigger draws leaving you to race for the pot against a set or an overpair.

Villain could have anything from trips, to a 7, to 9T, to spades without overs to spades with overs, to an overpair. You are only ahead of drawing hands without over cards and flipping with alot or drawing to 2 outs to the rest of his range. If you want to play this hand you must raise the flop as there is no safe turn card for your hand. If you do raise you will need to call a push and hope for the best. Against most opponents TT is an easy fold here. it would be much more interesting if you had QQ.

Raise flop. He bet 25 into 40. If he has AA or JJ you will likely stack him anyway. If he has anything else you wont make any money off him. You need to raise either the flop or the turn to build a big pot. Calling isn't too bad either if you only have 200 or so in front of you. Wuth deeper stacks though you want the pot to be pretty big once you get to the river so finding a raise somewhere is something you need to do.

Open pushing turn in terrible krup. You will everything that may give you value. Your reasong for doing this is also flawed. pushing to avoid decisions later on is just a bad way of thinking about things and i am sure if you consider this a little further you will agree.As far as the hand goes OP finds himself in a real tough spot. Check folding is fine is villain is passive and isnt capable of pushing here with a hand you beat. This is really player dependant and there is no default play here.
