I would just peel a cheap card. He is a fish who is interested in the pot which means we have no fold equity if we push our draw. However, if we hit one of our outs he is almost always paying us off for at least a pot bet on the river and if we miss we can get away clean. I'm a bit worried about the board being paired because he really is playing his hand quite strongly and a boat is in his range.

I don't mind how you played it. If the guy is running at donkish 37/7 and you seen him 3 barrel then it is safe to say he probably gets a bit too carried away and does stupid things. That and this is a blind v blind battle. Not like he 3 bet our UTG raise. However, once you 4 bet I'm never folding here. Folding after you 4 bet here is a massive leak AINEC, especially considering the situation (blind v blind) and our image. This thread is dying, so I will post the *actual* results. In the end, I decided to reraise preflop. The BB made a re-REraise allin, and my brain took a 5 minute break while my index finger clicked *call*PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)saw flop|saw showdownUTG ($194)MP ($259.20)Button ($208.15)Hero ($266.75)BB ($180.65)Preflop: Hero is SB with J

Obviously if he folds all this then this is always +EV. You just listed 95% of his possible holdings. Realistically, I think he would be inclined to call with strong draw hands like an OESFD. I think the only hands he calls with if he respects you are 10J, a strong draw and bottom set (he's never showing up with JJ/1010 here). It's sort of risky and if it's against an unknown I really don't like it but if he will laydown against you and respects you then I think it is fine. You are turning your middle pair into a bluff though basically.he folds all PP's, any 10, any QJ, KJ AJ. and most importantly any draw. -
This made me laugh for some reason. That and your avatar. Well played.
When lying one should go with something beleivable. Next Time try "I won 7 $20 SNGS in a row." Then people will be like wow that guys not a total fag/liar like they think now.I was wondering what was everyone's longest streak of winning heads up Sngs. Over the past couple of days I won 17 $200 heads up in a row and that was more than double my next highest streak. Has anyone won more? -
I checked 2nd hand for pot control. I planned on check/calling a reasonable bet and reevaluating river or bet/folding river for value. If I bet turn and he pushes I almost have to fold because he played the nut flush draw so passively on the first hand I was in with him, so it is unlikely he would be doing it with that. Then again, I was wondering if he might overpush on my bet with complete air or the draw simply because he mightve been tilted and I had just 3 bet Q7o against him and taken down a medium sized pot. When a nit overpushes your bet on a 9859 board when you're holding QQ there would be room for concern. When he open pushed when I checked I don't think it is as huge a tell of strength but nonetheless he has a hand here. His raising range is very tight to begin with and on the previous hand he checked behind with the nut flush draw so my major concern is whether he is tilted enough from the other hand to be on a huge bluff here with air or the draw. The only reason I posted this was because I wanted to see how much people felt my first hand against him affected this hand, if at all. If the first hand didn't exist I think bet/fold is correct line to take here against this guy but due to our first hand I mixed things up and checked and he surprised me and open pushed. Also, you mention an overpair is a part of his range and I agree it is a huge part of it but you seem to think if he has an overpair we have him down to two outs when in fact it is possible he has an overpair which has US down to two outs. As for people mentioning the 4 bet with AA/KK p-flop, I see where you are coming from but a cold call with position and a hand like AA/KK against someone who just 3 bet Q7o would be a better move then 4 betting it and scaring me away. In fact, unless were well over 100BBs deep I think cold calling with AA/KK in position is almost always +EV because your opponent is almost always throwing out a potish c-bet (which is usually 20BBish to begin with) if he 3 bets and possibly getting committed to a hand like 1010-QQ or weaker and stacking off. Where as when we 4 bet we announce we have AA/KK/AK/QQ in almost all situations.once you make the misclick pf, i'm ok with the way you played the first hand, i probably would have bet the turn though to weed something like 8-8 or 9-9 out of therein the second hand, checking the turn isn't ok imo like it was in the first hand, it's a mistake because you rate to have the best hand more often...once he calls the flop he is announcing that he has two big clubs or an overpair, you have to make a bet, if he has clubs then you are charging him to draw, and if he has the overpair he will either fold and allow you to take down a nice pot, or call with two outs -
Eh, must not browse 2+2 much? I see it way too much over there. This is a bet/call or shove with our shortish stack but I like leading flop and trying to get some money in there with our big draw. What is this going to be a trend now? Way to be a trend center Acid. I certainly shove if I'm hero. If I'm beat, I'm beat. -
That is a major cooler. After reading all this I think Mr. AA misplayed his hand horribly. Usually people overbet to get a marginal hand to look them up in the hopes the overbet will look suspicious (ie bluff catcher) or that the villian will have a strong 2nd best hand. However, there are only 2 possible hands that can ever call this overbet on this ridiculously dry, rainbow board and even if an ace could, having two of them in your hand makes it that much more unlikely your opponent will have one. So since this is never a bluff and the villian knows it, and there are really only 2 second best hands which can call this, why overbet? If the woman is a donkey then reraise and price her in to get her all in by the river. Why even give her an opportunity to fold her 2nd pair/air/ace rag (which she will be showing up with a lot more then a set)?Sorry guys.I spent the last 3 days at the casino. Stayed with a friend who lives just down the road. Was up until i lost a big pot last night with 10,10 on a Q,10,Q,5,9 board.and left up 60. :(RESULTS!!!Ok, so playerAA with 7,7,7 is a woman. Is known to be a big 2-5NL donkey who loves to call any bet with anything she considers a good hand, or a good draw. One thing I've learned while playing live a lot is that there are plenty of poker playing regulars who will over bet pots with a all in push when they have the nuts because they dont take into consideration what the other player might have.with AAA on this board, there are a number of ways to play it, and the push seems like its a bet screaming AAA instead of AK or 333. (i eliminate 333 because of the preflop action.)So, anyways.... this guy went all in with a set of aces and she called with a set of 7's. and yes its a massive cooler. But the entire table knew this guy only makes this ridiculous bet with the nuts. but easier said when you're not in the hand.cheers. sorry for the wait -
Me and villian don't really have much history besides this hand, which I think is important because it happened seconds before the hand in question occurred at a different table. Villian appears to be a nit, running at 11/9/3.3 over 100ish hands. If it isn't obvious, pre-flop is a misclick. I'm viewed as TAG full ring. Once again I made a mistake in this hand, this time not 3 betting enough preflop. (For those who are wondering, I was on the phone for both hands. Obviously multitabling+phone= -EV) He of course calls. How often are we good against a nit here? I'd say in most cases not often, but how much weight do you place on the previous hand concerning his perception, and possibly his actions, against me? My thoughts we're that I'm ahead in most cases because he's probably viewing me as a donktard 3 better and I'm not sure if KK/AA can afford to cold call that drawy flop. Also, if he had 88/99 then he's losing a lot of value open pushing that turn. Then again, he IS running 11/9/3 and he DIDNT bluff in the previous hand when given the opportunity. For everyone advocating a raise, why? If villian comes over top of our raise then we could either very well be getting bluffed out by air or a flush draw and we have to decide if he's bluffing or if we're drawing to two outs.Cold call and reevaluate. If we call this and his hand doesn't improve he almost always has to bet river to try and take it down and we can catch his bluff. If spade hits river then reevaluate.
-
If villian has quads he took a very strange line. His line is pretty strange no matter what he has. Check/calling on a K high rainbow flop then leading turn is a bit unusual. I'm a little worried about 77. Your hand is totally under repped because you bet so small on the flop and cold called turn. If ace doesnt hit river I'm pushing this every time. With ace I think calling/raising gets closer but I'm still going to take the non nit line against a LAG and raise, especially since he can't possibly put you on a monster the way you played the hand so weakly.Whether it was obvious I was trying to be tricky or not, I definitely was not weak when I called his turn lead. Does he act like he acts with anything I can beat except Kx? Does he raise preflop with Kx and not bet the flop?I mean, if this guy was just some LAG online, I put him on KK as often as any other hand here, right? -
The 668 flop is not very drawy and you don't think a middle pair would be more likely to check behind then call a small blocker bet? Any middle pair in this situation should know that theyre rarley getting an ace to fold when the villian decides to check river and looks like he's gone into check/call mode and basically they're tuning their middle pair into a bluff if they bet big.Just breezed through this. The reason that you don't value bet the river is that you're not representing much of anything here and you invite him to raise. It's unlikely that your hand is ever better than aces up here and it's rarely that strong. By checking, you're throwing him rope to take a stab at the pot. The ONLY hands that you're losing value from are those middle pairs that want to make a hero call. Every other bet comes from a hopeless hand or one that you can't beat anyway. I think bet/fold line and bet/call line just seem to be spewy here.I really think that you check and call a reasonable bet since there's enough of a chance that he was on some kind of draw or thinks he needs to bluff with a middle pair. Based on the way you've played it, it seems to be the only option available. Also, Zach the forum leader is sleeping on my couch. I am taking requests from all forum members on things that I should draw on his face in permanent marker. -
If he was deepstacked then decision gets tougher but yea, as you can see by the hands he limps UTG, shortstackers do idiotic things and generally play bad poker.Just needed you guys as a sounding board. Since this topic had an obvious choice, I'll post the results:I pushed, he called with K5 offsuit (?!?!) and board bricked out. -
He most likely has 45, 56, or A5. You're behind to only one of those three hands. That with the fact so much money is already in on top of throwing in the occasional garbage hand/10/flush draw makes this a call.

The way villian is described I think he is calling any raise or push with a 2 here. I might not push just because it loses value when he doesn't have a 2 and I would normally suspect him not to have a 2 here. If you had a read saying he did have one though as OP stated then I think you have to felt this.I was hero. I doubt he 3bet 99 pf...he was pretty weak pf...when he started raising 10bb everytime pf...i started really opening my 3bet hands on hiimi and i took it down everytime making it $65 with XX....After the hand I thought river raise was 60/40, then 70/30, then back to 60/40...and then after coming back after a few hours I think it's more like 80/20 raise, based on opponent, board texture, and action.I actually ended up calling...I think my biggest mistake this hand was acting too fast on riv. didn't give myself time to think. I was 4 tabling and sometimes I'm acting so quick I don't think spots like this thru. Oh well. I doubt there will be much discussion, as it is hu play..but he had 2x...can't remember the other card, but it wasn't a boat.I wouldn't have shipped...but it would have been a healthy raise to like 600-700 or something.i'm not sure if he would have called, but since he was steaming he may have been more inclined to.bleh.- Jordan -
Ugh that puts you in a horrible spot. You're getting some good odds to call but he played it like a monster. I probably fold just because it's also possible he backed into an ace. Also, he probably knows ace is in your range and he's still reraising. I think I have to fold this but with those odds against a poor player I'm not sure.Yeah, I think I've made it clear that I think this is the best play. At least it's what I thought while sitting there, I don't know anymore though. Here's the next part of the hand. Hero bets $125, Villain thinks and raises to $300. I think for maybe 30 seconds and he calls for the clock, a pretty big D-bag move. Now usually when a schmuck calls the clock on you, ESPECIALLY this quickly, they are trying to piss you off in an effort to make you call. And his raise is smaller than I would have expected, it looks very value bettish. But all of this seemed so obvious so now I'm sitting there trying to figure out what he thinks of me. Does he really think I'm an idiot and don't know that this is why someone would call the clock? Does he really think I don't see how small his raise is compared to his other bets? Or is he trying some kind of double move with a value bet bluff and calling the clock so quick? So right around this point I'm thinking my bet might not have accomplished the things I wanted it to, but I'm facing calling the same size bet I thought I would see if I checked the river, only I have already put in over 1/3 of it. -
A lot of curious aces will call a raise but not a shove. Same goes for a hand like 10J. If he happens to have a set then he probably calls a push but I think he has two pair or an ace much more often. If I'm facing this push with two pair against competent opponent I probably find a way to fold. You basically flip your hand up after you bet flop, check turn then overbet push river and I think he only calls with a set. What else would he even put you on that bets A high flop then pushes river? AJ or A10 rarely play it like that. Only hands which really make sense are KQ, JJ, or air and if you raised preflop you're hardly ever showing up with air on that board. He should know this.what hands possibly call any raise?? AJ, AT, 22, 33, TT, AA, JJ, JT. I think any set calls the shove, and AJ has a very hard time getting away from it. And it would surprise me more for the villain to have AT in this spot then for them to call with it. -
This is super easy push. He 3 bets 99 p-flop and you have an ace so A2 isnt as likely. If he's playing 92 or 72 then good for him.If you don't think he'll call push then value raise.
-
Blocker bet. I doubt he's capable of recognizing a blocker bet when he sees one so I doubt he'll push over one without the goods. If he's capable of bluff pushing over river bets (which even most maniacs usually don't do) then check/call.
-
Yes TAG has us crushed and pushing might make him lay down on river, but what kind of hand are we beating against original guy? 6x? That's about it. Pushing here with hands like 2nd/3rd pair makes no sense and he would most likely just check it down. There is a obvious flush which just spiked the river that is a huge part of his range and what reason do we have not to believe him? This is NOT an easy fold.We need to find some way to get the TAG out of the pot. My plan here would've been to check and hope to show down, fold if the TAG bet, but if TiltyEuropean bets, then instantly say "all-in" when it gets to me. TAG then has an easy fold unless he designed a flawless trap, and we'd love to shut him out. He might be able to overcall with QQ if we call, but he probably won't be able to call the 325, then call a few hundred more on top of that when you move-in behind. If TiltyEuropean has us beat, we're okay paying off here, because we're ahead a good portion of the time. But we cannot- CANNOT- let the good player overcall. A shovel here looks slightly suspicious, but we could be doing it with a relatively wide range that has UTG in trouble, so he'll probably find a fold anyway.I'm more concerned about your turn line. I think we should find a way to blast the TAG out of the pot here, to get it H/U with the TiltyEuropean. It's probably too costly and tricky, but it bears thinking about. We're drawing very live whenever we get called by the good player, so it might be worth it.Wang -
Veryyyy easy fold. You beat nothing. Only air. Him being "tilted" shouldn't force you into making a bad play because almost any draw got there. Also, fold 106s preflop for a 7BB raise out of position. I think you kinda butchered this hand. I don't like check calling this flop out of position with an obvious OESD. If we hit we're unlikely to get paid off due to the scary nature of the board and a 9 could be a dirty out and give someone a better straight. When UTG+1, being a TAG, fires turn again then that should be your key to get out. Now river brings diamond and the "tilted" guy pushes. Even if you're ahead of him you still have the TAG behind you. Since you'll probably take your time calling and look honestly afraid, TAG might call with his overpair/set/whatever simply because now he's getting good odds and he's probably fairly sure YOU don't have flush.
-
In the hand he stacked off he had TPTK plus nut flush draw..... This is standardX2. If you dont stack off there then youre a nit.Raise to 120. Pushing is stupid because overbet pushes on this river means your repping QK and he has no reason not to believe you, especially if you just showed down a good hand vs him with 66.I think because he has shown that he will stack off, (in that AK vs 66 hand did he call or push with top pair?), I think you are missing value if you don't push here. You have the nuts. -
People who can't afford full buy in have tendencies to make stupid plays but I'm not sure this is one. If he is deepstacked I think we either call flop and fold to turn bet or just fold outright but with his stack I might be going to the felt with this. He has us beat a lot but if we call his min reraise, his push on turn will be less then the size of the pot (17ish into a 24ish pot) and we should probably be calling that as well.
-
Isn't this a "turn shovel" not a river shovel?
As for hand, very read dependent. Mostly comes down to how often he floats a hand like an underpair or air here. The thing that sucks is if we get called with a hand like AK then we're drawing dead. -
Yea but the other 40% of the time we get called and realize we're going to have to possibly two barrel or three barrel a limped pot with air to win and that just can't be good.Nah, fire at it. It's a scary board for everyone, and a lot of people will look for a better spot. I don't hate a pot-sized bet here. 60% of the time, you'll take it down.

Seems a little butchered
This is an easy turn raise. It has nothing to do with his range rather board texture. Whatever he called on the flop with he still has and is probably willing to call another bet with. That turn probably didn't scare him away. He still has his ace/flush draw/bottom set/whatever and will be calling a reasonable bet. I really dont like betting this flop against a limper. We have a gutshot and we're OOP.Really have to bet turn. And since we played it so weak make a river value bet and expect to get looked up with basically anything. If he raises river then reevaluate. Obviously flush hit but you played it so passive he might be raising a hand like 2 pair or bottom set thinking its for value.
