  1. Lol @ Jamie Gold being better then 99.9% of posters here.
  2. Yea, you really have to sort of lose respect for money playing at higher limits or else the downswings can really tear you apart.
  3. Push. This is almost never a bluff and if he got tricky with a set on the flop and we cold call we give him a chance to boat up at a free cost. Also, we can't extract much value if his set doesn't improve to a boat on river anyways. He's going to call with a 9, which is what he has usually, and sometimes call with a set. Either value reraise or push but never call.
  4. I really like a bet/fold here. Villian checks behind a lot of hands we can extract some value from.
  5. But I had been practicing my one outers, don't you see? So really I was a 98% favorite. His "dodging" skills are really low. He's like a level 2 dodger up against a level 22 one outing maniac. Not a match up he's gonna win much.
  6. I think almost everyone started low and moved their ways up. I started with 50 bucks and played $5 SNGs and microlimits and just grinded from there. Just play TAG poker basically and don't get fancy at those limits. Use good bankroll management and don't take ridiculous shots.
  7. This seems like a value bet but at least we split if hes 3 betting AJ or lower. I think we have to call. Donks do stupid things. The info should be worth a lot in the future.
  8. The key to running good and keeping bad vibes away is hitting one outers. Practice hitting one outers for a few weeks then move up in limits. Simple really. I like how he announces his hand and I still call. lol @ people who lay down sets.Seat 1: mrak82 ($1,389.85)Seat 2: 6speed ($1,226.60)Seat 3: dhmaddog ($285.50)Seat 4: cudd517 ($621)Seat 5: lilrhu ($937.65)Seat 6: SILLYFISH23 ($1,045.35)cudd517 posts the small blind of $3lilrhu posts the big blind of $6The button is in seat #3*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to cudd517 [2c 2h]SILLYFISH23 foldsmrak82 calls $66speed foldsdhmaddog calls $6cudd517 call
  9. I think SB made a bad play betting that turn with all those flop callers. He really hates getting reraised and he can't even be sure with 3 callers if he has the best flush draw.Oh well.
  10. Regardless of results, if you have these guys pinned as calling stations, isn't this a fold? Your ace will almost never be good by itself and usually one will have a flush with the other having TP/set. Worst case scenario is that one has a set for the redraw to the boat and other has flopped a flush (killing 2 of your spade outs) which I think is a distinct possibility.Even with their current hands the EV is only $+24. Someone pokerstove one having a set and the other having flopped a flush.
  11. Not putting in that reraise on flop. If a non spade 10 comes do we still think we're good? I really don't like trying to make this pot bigger then it has to be.I think turn is a clear fold.
  12. When I said "non nut" I didn't mean the only hand we should call this with is 99 or something. I just mean i would probably only call this with a boat or straight. Not always of course. Without reads it's difficult. Its tough and I think A9 is borderline because as I said earlier, he may be pushing a weaker 9 for value, and this is almost always in villian's eyes a value push.
  13. I think a few days or a week ago. I was against a TAG at a Full Tilt 3/6NL 6 max table with a name strikingly similar to yours. I'm assuming it was you. Correct me if I'm wrong.I had QQ and you had Q10s and I think it was the third time I 3 bet you in the past 10 minutes.
  14. That's actually a good logic for situations just like this. OP is making a move and villian won't get any action if he pushes his weak king but can get OP to bluff off a lot of chips by just taking the passive line.
  15. Sure, most people don't do it. I agree there. The thinking that this is a bluff though could lead to some hero calls which made Smash theory so profitable in the first place. As a general rule we just shouldn't be paying off these ridiculous overbets with non nut hands. The reason this hand is difficult is because there are perhaps some weaker value hands which we do in fact beat, such as 89 or 910.
  16. 2-3K is super standard for 1/2NL. Just be prepared to move down if you encounter a sick downswing.20 buy-ins is pretty standard if you're flexible enough to move down and not stubborn when it is obvious you are over your head at any given limit.Bankroll nits might tell you 40-50 buyins but I would only suggest this if you're playing heads up mainly. More variance.
  17. You're correct. I made a sort of mistake in my original post, making it seem like we have to risk 100BB to win 10 and that isn't correct. Rather, the pot was originally 10BB and he pushed 100BB of his money into it and now we have to risk 100BB of ours to win what was originally a small pot. My point does mean something because if it didn't then I would probably overpush any time I flopped a set/monster on a scary board like this where there are plenty of 2nd best hand. This is basically Smash theory and why it doesn't work is because when you overbet push at higher limits players are smarter
  18. There was 10BB in the pot when he pushed, meaning we have to risk a lot for essentially what was a miniature pot. I realize we're not the ones pushing 100BB into a 10BB pot.
  19. My main point is that we're risking almost 100BB to win a pot with less then 10BB. We have to be ahead here a LOT for this to be -EV. I feel that we're not ahead nearly enough and when we are he is drawing very live. This is just tough with no reads. His bet makes no sense strategically but the pot is so small that I think I'm going to let him take it right now. If this situation occurs with him in the future then we will have a better read.
  20. Um fold? Less then 10BB in the pot. How are we going broke here with trips? WB/BA situation with nothing in the pot to go broke for. What kind of idiot pushes less then a straight/monster draw here. If he does this routinely then easy call but otherwise with no reads then fold. No reads sucks here.
  21. I have a feeling if he has something like a flush draw he'll be betting turn hard and calling a push, being well priced in. Then we're really screwed. Kinda like when you check raised me with the flush draw and had to call my push in that 3 bet pot the other day at 3/6 on a paired board.
  22. An ace of hearts would be better. The problem with this opponent is he has a huge range. J8, J9, 22, 88 are all in his range. If he has a hand like J10 or JQ then he's not in horrible shape either. Combo draws are also in his range. There are too many draws to check this if you think you're good so you have to decide whether to push or check/fold. I think I like pushing but it's close. His AF is very troubling.
  23. I can't believe how many people are hating on this play. If SB is solid TAG then this is almost always a blocker bet and MP is obviously dead money. This is such a standard representation of the flush. My only problem is that river raise might not have been high enough. If you post this from SB's perspective and he has a hand like 2 pair, almost everyone will give the advice to fold. Which is generally correct advice because this is rarely a bluff.
