no chance in just folding here possibly drawing to two and change outs? I can't really be comfortable if i hit anything other than my str8 flush here.
QFT. I remember this hand. Daniel had 2nd pair I believe (10s) and Antonio had JJ. I was so surprised to hear Daniel offer to show one card if he folded because I figured if anyone would know what a huge sign of weakness that was, it would be him, being the huge talker that he is. Maybe he was using reverse psychology, thinking Antonio would believe he was purposely trying to sound weak. Or maybe he just wasn't thinking clearly.Anyways I don't even know what he was doing pushing 2nd pair in the first place. I'm not sure if he put Antonio on air or correctly on what he had, a mid PP, trying to get him to lay down. This situation reminds me of Daniel's bet against Antonio when he accidentally offers to Antonio to show him if he folds and Antonio calls immediately. Everyone at the table admits he gave his hand away. But then Daniel spikes on the river to bust Antonio. Sorry for the vague recollection. Anyway, I'm thinking of using this as a reverse tell someday when I have the nuts. -
I like check raising that flop only because 2 called after original raiser led out. I don't necessarily want to scare them out but I want to make them pay if they have a straight draw. Sometimes I will lead here as well. Given big field you'll probably get at least one caller and original raiser might reraise if he has something legitimate like an overpair. As played I would probably lead turn. Original raiser's pathetic flop bet means he has nothing and he's not going to lead again. Checking this risks seeing free river which can bring a lot of scare cards. There's plenty of "pair with a gutshot" combinations or 2 pairs out there and while the 2 pairs might bet this turn, the "pair with a gutshot" might check it behind to try and hit their straight. If you get reraised further on turn a straight is a good possibility but we're defintley not laying this down on flop or turn.

Not true. I used to push over 3 bets in certain situations at those limits. Most of the time if they're 3 betting you with it, they're having a hard time getting away from it.No competent player bats around bets like this with AA -
If button is aggro donkey and BB is fish I might reraise flop further. It is obvious BB is on draw and we need to find out if our hand is good against button. Does button see a lot of flops?(ie Does he play ace-rag?)

I think this is much different then OP's hand simply because CO is more likely to see your 3bet as a resteal attempt on a positional raiser and he might think you 3 betting light. Sucks we dont have a read but I'm calling 100% of the time.So the hand below seems to fit in this thread:First hand at the table - this action happened. I just sat down with 100BBs so I thought for awhile.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)SB ($239.05)Hero ($400.00)UTG ($394.00)UTG+1 ($295.30)MP1 ($186.20)MP2 ($451.50)CO ($452.00)Button ($356.00)Preflop: Hero is BB with K

I've actually found the opposite to be true online. As you move up in limits online people tend to 3 bet and 4 bet way more religiously in order to take it down preflop. At lower limitsthe play is generally more passive and less preflop is betting is done. Basically more people play ABC poker preflop at lower limits. With villian being 22/7/1 his postflop low aggression is probably an indicator that he is generally a passive tight player which includes being passive preflop in most cases. I also think over 100 hands is enough to tell a person's general style of play, at least for that session. All that being said, I probably am calling because I still think he would perhaps play QQ similarly. However, you dont have much invested so folding isn't bad either.(Don't ever fold KK preflop in a cash game) x 74In low stakes games, people often go nuts with QQ or even AK like this. I just have such a hard time giving credit to people who aren't accurately interpreting all of the action before them. It's not that it's wrong to never fold KK preflop, but if you never folded it, you wouldn't be giving up too much. -
I call but I dont like it against a TAG. Only hand he is doing this with that we beat is a straight. I really don't think many players throw in the river push with trip 7's and many wouldn't push a straight either on a paired board. He bet into 3 other people on a flop. Many of the hands he bets out into 3 people with on that flop (74,73,77,44,79) we are losing too by the river while only a few we still beat (56,7x).

I agree I think it is a call but I disagree with it being "not even close". To say that seems to be only playing our cards, no? I didn't say villian was incompetent although over such a small sample size he could be. Assuming he isn't, what hand plays the hand as he did then overshoves river for 150BB after 3rd club hits? I'd say horribly played straight, a busted straight draw trying to represent flush or a higher/lower flush. Since he seems to be playing a lot of hands it could easily be non nut flush if he has this hand. Given this range I called but if villian were TAG I suggest seriously thinking about this becuase a normal TAG isn't overshoving this river for 140BB into an opponent who has shown strength all the way down without the nuts or near nuts. It is a easier call against a LAG but nonetheless a strange overbet. It's a call and it's not even close. -
Alright so I bet because I figured he might be hanging on with a stubborn hand/draw and turn couldn't have helped him. Also, if I get called I have lots of outs, right? Maybe not, river brings great card, until he pushes into me. Now I'm faced with calling 140BB bet with 3rd nuts. What hand pushes here besides another flush? Would a straight do this? Seems unlikely. Would he bet flop with air, call 3X reraise and bet on turn then push river? Very unlikely. Set? Doubt it. So do we call hoping he has a lower flush/another horribly misplayed hand? I would say yes normally but this is a 140BB bet. I'd push because I can't even see him laying down an ace here with so much in the pot and him having a flush draw is a possibility. If board was rainbow I'd call most likely because then he most likely is drawing close to dead and I can't see him getting away from any river and if he is bluffing then let him hang himself.

QFT. Why on earth would you play J2o which has no value other then trips or a boat and then fold the boat?Right or wrong based on the results, the fold is still terrible. You're not allowed to play J2o, make a full house using both cards and then fold. It's just not allowed. Thanks for playing though. -
I like firing turn to weed out better queens/other draw and build a pot if we hit and he does have a strong hand. I'm checking river unless we hit a 3, Q or heart of course. If he bets river I'm probably folding unless its some ridiculous smallish 1/4th type pot bet.
-
Yea I think this is quite standard. If the board was rainbow it might be a lil more difficult.

I just played this hand today so for whatever hand it is being referenced to, it is not identical. Anyways I figured the flop was an easy raise due to his potentially large range and my hand's potential. So I popped it and was cold called. Turn is obviously a blank. Now what? Take a free card now or fire another barrel? If we fire again do we call a push if he comes over the top? This is deepstacked, so do we like having to call a push with 2nd pair and a draw if we're faced with that decision? If we double barrel we might push him off a J or higher flush draw. I think this type of villian is taking any two pair/set along for the ride and obviously a straight as well but would they really lead into raiser with that type of hand on flop and cold call the repop instead of pushing back on such a potentially scary board? Even if I had the nut straight I would be reraising this board simply because there are so many turn cards which could kill action. What would he lead with here and call a 3X reraise? Once he called I personally limited his range to a J with a good kicker or some type of draw. Therefore turn is actually good because its going to be hard for him to call a big bet on a blank turn with a draw or a jack. Then again, if he thinks his hand is good on flop, is that turn card going to make him think otherwise? I'm gonna do this hand piece by piece because I think there are plenty of ways to play it and the fact that this is a deepstacked game gives more room for maneuverability. I'd just like opinions on how you would play each part specifically.Villian is like 40/20/3 over small sample size (20-30 hands) so not TOO much weight can be placed on stats. I had been only in one previous pot in with him in which he called my raise and bet pot into me on a J high board. I folded. I haven't noticed him bet into any other raisers after calling a raise p-flop though so I'm not sure what it means.Full Tilt PokerNo Limit Holdem Ring gameBlinds: $1.50/$39 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: $1032.70UTG+1: $331.50MP1: $316.30MP2: $297Hero: $595.50CO: $563.20Button: $422.20SB: $606.25BB: $598.45Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP3 with T

I've dabbled (few thousand hands) in PLO and I really dont think this is standard. If it did happen every couple sessions the casino would probably average paying off the bad beat jackpot a few times every day. I doubt they're dishing out $7,500 or so a day in bad beat jackpot bonuses. It would simply be unprofitable for them obviously.Think about this, the same table, Runner, Runner quads in both hands of Omaha in a hour and a half period.Pretty standard in PLO, really. You must not be that familiar with the game. Happens every couple of sessions. (sw) -
Havent read anything but seems like KQ or air. Unfortunately with him being TAG its probably KQ like 95% of the time. He c-bet flop, realized you probably had ace and shut down on turnand spiked his card on river. That or maybe a set on the river. I don't think a flopped set plays it like this. AK never plays it like this, even against LAG villian where it is probably good.

QFT, I thought I knew what I was doing a few months after I started playing cards because I had read some books and browsed some poker forums a bit. How wrong I was. A few years into the game (online NL hold em) and I realize not only how wrong I was but also how far I have to go in a constantly evolving game.Do you understand how small the fraction of players that actually win at this game are? The way you talk, I think it's significantly less than you think. -
Just put him all in. Shortstacks in general play poorly and I'm not laying down TPTK here for what he has left.

This is standard raise live. If you wait for sets and KK/AA live then youll be waiting awhile. Nut peddling is boring and can cost you in both time and heavy rake live. What is this players raising range? Is this a normal cbet size?If the villains raising range is tight, why would you want to raise? Hands like AK, AQ, AJs, will fold and hands like 99+ call. You’re either way behind or way ahead, why does the hero want to play a big pot in this situation??? Also if the hero just calls than that could induce the villain to fire another bullet w/AK-AQ on the turn and also gives the Hero a chance to draw out.If players are raising 15$ pre-flop there should be better spots to play a big pot. -
Hand 1: Call. Easy.Hand 2: I like your turn line against aggro opponent but reraise less, we still want a flush draw to call us with incorrect odds. Hand 3: Fold. The fact that its blind vs blind and there is a missed flush draw makes me wanna call but there are so many hands that kill you. 46 and 68 play it identical.

Against a LAG who is likely making a very opportunistic squeeze play (5BB raise, and FOUR callers) I am cold calling AKo here most of the time. The other amount of the time I might 4 bet if villian has been 3 betting liberally. Cold calling with 22-QQ is very plausible as well. Either hit the flop or see a ragged one against a LAG and my PP is looking pretty good most of the time. Unfortunately, villian will hit a set a small percentage of the time but I think you playing with such a small BR has affected your thinking. I'd say were good about 85% of the time here against his range.PS, if we include suited connectors in his range it is horrible to check this flop because we are giving OESD, Flush draws, and hands that caught one of the low cards a chance to catch up.U keep saying a solid player would raise LAG with QQ,JJ,etc etc.but go back to preflop.a solid player doesnt bet 25 here and smooth call another 100. here.if the hand went like so:hero straddle, villain raise to 50. back to hero, hero raise to to 175. villain call 125. flop 10,2,3 i say shovel 100%.but it wasnt that way. and its why i take a different line with my kings this time.** please. me personally., Royal_Tour, RT, Poo Poo Mcmuffin, I play this hand differently from the get go. I raise more preflop, and if i do get called at that point, I'm only scared of 10,10. but thats 1 hand over a large range, so i bet.the way Hero played it, i take this approach -
Against Ah9d we have live gutshot and flush outs (were 42% to win). I'm assuming you misread hand.Even against a monster like JhQh, were 40 percent to win hand. Only hand which truly has us dominated is Ahxh and even then unless it is AhQh (which it isn't because he would most likely 3 bet it preflop) we have live outs in our king and also with our gutshot. Throw in hand history with villian and I think we gain some fold equity because there is a higher chance he is doing this with air or something weak like a straight draw. He might also have a baby flush draw, as OP only min raised he might be playing a hand like 2h3h.Nah I dont agree. It doesnt look like Villian is going anywhere with so much invested in the pot, if we go over the top, hes calling. As played, only a heart or K will help our hand, and if Villian has something like Ah9d, we are drawing to the King, which is 3 outs. I dont call the turn -
I'd rather push turn. If your read is right, he might be making this play with less then a solid hand and you have a healthy chance of winning with a push right there. If he does have a hand then we just spike one of our outs and win a big pot. Easy enough. Also, with turn call you give him another chance to bluff/semi-bluff river without goods and you can't call. He could be betting with such a variety of draws or marginal holdings on the turn but with such little left behind you there isn't a great chance he'll fold even if he checks to you on river.
