world series game 2 - another questionable call
timwakefield replied to RhinestoneCowboy's topic in General
I kind of don't think there is a still image which would show it definitevely. The best way to see it is in slow motion...the ball pretty clearly hits his bat, and Dye's reaction shows that HE didn't think he was hit. Somebody is smiling on those White Sox, that's for sure. -

NINETEEN SEVENTEENOh wait, you guys already beat us. I hope Chicago destroys Pettite and Roger.

I meant they replayed part of it, not all of it.

Sorry to say, it's not. The correct term is 'more stupid.' Oops. You suck.Maybe it's a word in "American," but not in the English language. What dictionary did you use, Billy Bob's Big Book of Words?Try looking in an actual dictionary, not just googling it.

Yah, i started a new thread called ALCS and put a response there. Good historical knowledge KK, I didn't realize this game was replayed.

What? So if you can't afford to tip a waitress you shouldent order your food? No, you shouldn't. Most waiters get paid about $3/hour. They live almost entirely off of tips, so you should accept the fact that in this country your meal will cost about 15% more than it is listed on the menu. Also, if you don't tip at a casino you will not be welcome there for long. Similarly if you don't tip at a restaurant, you will not be treated well at all next time you go there.

I don't know why the other threads were locked, but here's an alcs thread. Kowboy, good point about the George Brett game. I didn't realize they actually replayed that game. Last night's call wasn't as immediately important to the outcome of the game though...blown call on homerun vs blown call on (essentially) a stolen base. Good point though.

Study the physics of a knuckleball. It is harder to throw a good major league knuckleball than to throw a good major league fastball. Also, it goes a bit faster than 100 kilometres an hour. Also, kilometres are for suckers. Miles are where its at.

Um, the White Sox have home field advantage in the ALCS.

what do you say when you get sucked out on?

Umm....too late?Yeah it's too late, but I gotta say something! -
I mean like a really bad suckout, like somebody calling a huge bet with nothing but an inside draw, or calling your all-in QQ with 22. I know you get mad sometimes. Do you just shut up and walk away? Online I usually just type BS and walk away... no sense giving them the pleasure of knowing they got to you. Thanking them for trying to give you their stack is good too.

Hey spiky, JJ just killed me too. I had q9, flop comes 10jk rainbow with one opponent. He moves all in with jj, and makes quads on the river. I know he had a lot of outs...but quad jacks strikes again.Next game I have AQ, move in and get called by KQ. A1010 flop, goddam killer jack again on the river...

Playing under protest isn't really going to do anything, except anounce that you are in protest. The only action Soscia could have taken which would have had some effect would have been to pull his team off the field. The third out had been called, inning over. But there's no way he could do this (and risk forfeiting the game) since there were still 2 outs and just a runner on first.I think a protest had a decent chance of working, because this is more than just a missed call...it is a broken rule. The umpire called the batter out, and then let him be safe anyways. Thus, if protested, I thi

I don't know what you mean by "after the flop." If you mean on the flop, you are extremely wrong. His opponent is less than 0.1% to win on flop. If you mean on the turn, you are only fairly wrong. His opponent is 2.3% to win on the turn.

Tournaments are full of suckers. If you can buy in for $20 and win $1k (or more), seems to me that's the place to be.

I think it's pretty goddam unlikely that anybody bets 13 times the pot on the flop at the main event. Clearly this guy is a major fish, you have to call him.

thats a perfect raise. 4xBB + 1 limper = 50 chips.anymore and you most likely wont get any action with em..anyways.Do you have any good reads on the guy? What he's showing on showdowns, and how loose he bets?you're getting 1.08::1 to call.... it really does depend on the action he's showing in the game. Contemplating a fold isn't bad. Blinds are low, and if you are running up against a loose player..First, he said it was very early and he had no reads.Second, what do you think the opponent has??? 10 7??? Especially in a $5 game, I would say it's at least 95% that the opponent has A10 or w

I'd be surprised if he got fired. He totally blew it, but it isn't easy getting rid of an ump...unless they all quit.It was definitely caught. If not, the catcher would have tagged AJ. No question.Yes, I suppose he is probably tenured or something. He had better at least change his strike signal to something that makes sense, like pointing his finger AS NEARLY EVERY OTHER UMP DOES. Seriously, home plate umpires have three important signs: strike, safe, and out. Wouldn't you think they would all be different??? Really unbelievable that his defense is that his strike sign is pumping his fist

I never say sorry, cuz I sure as hell ain't. I say the same thing everytime: oops.
-
Call. What are you afraid he has??? AA? He would almost certainly re-raise preflop. And if he has hit a set, only a real idiot would go all in right off the bat like he does. Much more likely he will lead into you for a medium bet, or check/raise.
