  1. Yeah I said what up to him. So what? He probably loves it. He's a goddam celebrity now, from a complete nobody.
  2. Seriously though, they're not rigged. There's no reason they would want one person to win rather than any other person. Bad beats are much more memorable than when the best hand wins.
  3. I know I was getting (barely) odds to call if he has the flush, but there's more to it than that because it is also for my tournament life and not his. In general, I don't think you can blindly call for pot odds when it is for all of your chips...the odds may be good but you are still an underdog and risking everything. But yes, I called. I wasn't POSITIVE he had the spades, and I had a small shot at it if he did. He had the flush and I didn't fill up on the river...still won $400 for my $20.
  4. Pokerstars $20 buy-in, 180 person SNG. Down to final 3. Blinds 1k/2k. I am SB with about 60k chips. Button (chipleader) folds. I raise to 8k with 66. BB (about 85k chips) calls.Flop comes A 10 2, two spades. I bet 12k. BB calls.4th street comes 6 of spades. I bet 20k. BB goes all in (putting me all in for my last 25k or so).So do you call? Even if you are somewhat sure he has the flush made, do you call? If I fold then I have 25K, he has 125k, 3rd guy has over 100k. Read on the guy is pretty tight/very aggressive.
  5. Maybe play a few SNGs to get back into the swing...That's all I ever play, single and multi-table. Maybe not great for stress, but a $10 game can be pretty relaxing even if you lose.
  6. Definitely call if you think a straight is good. And he probably wouldn't overbet so much with a made full house. If I had no read on him I would call.
  7. The only time I saw guys straddling, they were both very loose. It didn't seem to benefit them much, but raised the action sometimes. In a $1/$2 NL game, a standard raise became about $16-$20 instead of $8-$12 when UTG straddled (for $4).
  8. NOTA better play is betting out a monster hand, and if you've been aggressive all night, you'll get action.
  9. The most over cards your opponent can have is 2. But there are 4 cards which can fall to which you would possibly fold...(JKQA)I think pushing is the best play, unless you have seen your opponent check it down before when a player is all in. Only if he loves to check it down would i think of calling.
  10. Limp with AA around the middle of a tourney, when you're trying to build a stack. I usually only do it in first position, and you have to be willing to give the hand up if nobody raises and a few players see a cheap flop with you. Best time to do it, say you have 4000 chips, blinds 100-200, limp in first position, if somebody raises to 600 or more, go all in. But really I think in most situations the best way to play AA is to put in a standard raise.
  11. You really fold here? J10 clubs with about 4 to 1 odds on your 80 chip call?
  12. Anyways, he had A10, I called, next caller had something like K10, 3rd caller had KK and it held up.
  13. And a couple more:Homer: God, if you really are God, you'll get me tickets to that game.[doorbell rings]Ned Flanders: Heidely-ho, neighbor. Wanna go to the game with me? I got two tick...Homer: [slams the door, looks heavenward] Why do you mock me, O Lord?Marge: Homer, that's not God. That's just a waffle that Bart tossed up there.[Marge scrapes it off the ceiling into Homer's hands]Homer: I know I shouldn't eat thee, but...[bites]Homer: Mmm, sacrilicious. Homer: Oh, Lisa. You and your stories. Bart is a vampire. Beer kills brain cells. Now let's go back to that building thingy... where our be
  14. 'nuff said[Homer has been thrown out of an all-you-can-eat restaurant for eating too much]Lionel Hutz: This is the most blatant case of false advertising since my suit against the movie The Neverending Story.Homer: So, do you think I have a case?Lionel Hutz: Mr. Simpson, I don't use the word 'hero' lightly, but you are the greatest hero in American history.Homer: Woohoo!Homer: But wait. You can't kill me for being Krusty. I'm not him. I'm Homer Simpson.Fat Tony: The same Homer Simpson who crashed his car through the wall of our club?Homer: Uh... actually my n
  15. You don't HAVE to raise more preflop...it's often good to slowplay it like that, as long as you know it's risky. If you raise to 120 you risk winning only a tiny set of blinds. As for calling the all-in, you clearly made the right play and were over 2 to 1 to win.sometimes good to slowplay a big pair; yesIs being UTG one of those times; noand about the bolded partId rather win the blinds then double someone upOk, but when the blinds are low you need to build a pot if you're gonna build a stack.
  16. Oh yeah, if all three guys went all in in front of me i definitely fold, figuring somebody quite likely has the nut flush draw. But if the first guy has for example qq with no club, it's about 50/50 if it's just us two.The other part of the question I didn't specify was if I could see his cards (he actually held A10 with no club), is it worth calling here with the chance to double up early? I think I'm about 45% to win (12 outs) and could be the early chip leader at the table, albeit not a huge one.
  17. Bad time to slowplay...if an ace hits you're likely to lose the hand to the raiser regardless of what he has, and could be forced to fold if say 567 spades falls.ESPECIALLY trying to survive the bubble, it's smart to move all in with KK here. If he has AA then good for him, he can have all your chips...if he doesn't then you are in a great spot whether he calls or not.
  18. Very early in an 800 person $20 NL tourney. Blinds 15-30. One limper, I limp in mid position with J10 clubs, one call, button raises to 100, 3 calls. Pot about 450.Flop comes 10 3 4 with two clubs. First position immediately goes all in for about 1200 chips. Calling would leave me with about 200. Do you call, even though you have to expect your opponent has at least a better kicker than you? Also, I wont say what I did yet, but both players acting after me called for all of their chips. If I could have seen everybody's cards it would have been an automatic call (right?) since I had th

  20. no they don't (didn't). that's a popular falacy because both the respective comments "god does not play dice" (einstein just referring to his refusal to accept the random nature of quantum mechanics), and "know the mind of god" (hawking referring to humans understanding the workings of the universe if we can find the "final theory") are frequently taken out of context. they were (are) both agnostic. hawking's theories in particular are about as god-free as you can get.In "A Brief History of Time," Hawking often discusses God. He never really gives his own religious beliefs point-blank, but he
  21. It was the ump's decision, not Dye's, and the ump blew it. Obviously Dye is gonna want what's best for the team...have you ever seen a guy argue against an ump who made a bad call which benefited his team??? No.
