  1. Tons and tons of movies, but The Shield is the only other tv show I can think of. That was, well that was just some crazy goddam shit tonight. "I watched Jane die." Fuck.
  2. I've been watching the whole series from the beginning the last month or so. I think I actually like it better this time around, not having to wait months and months between seasons and whatnot. The evolution of Walt is extraordinary. There are a few plot points that didn't hold up quite as well as I'd remembered, but Walt's slow transformation is so goddam good. I can't fucking wait for The Saul Goodman Show. Also the next 3 episodes.
  3. If anybody else is now wondering what a howcatchem is, here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverted_detective_story You could of course just google it, but I'm such a nice guy I did it for you.
  4. Saul Goodman spinoff appears to be finalized and actually happening. It will be a prequel of sorts. http://www.deadline.com/2013/09/breaking-bad-saul-goodman-spinoff-amc-series/
  5. The biggest mark against Obama's presidency it seems to me is his aggressive attacks on whistleblowers, and the domestic spying programs. The feds have charged 8 people under the vague, outdated Espionage Act under Obama, mostly on bullshit trumped up charges (the charges against Manning and Snowden could be argued to be valid). They're basically trying to scare people into keeping silent. Only 3 other people in history had ever been charged under that act since it was enacted 100 years ago. That, combined with the NSA spying revelations (which of course he didn't enact, but he sure as hel
  6. Have you seen the Anthony Bourdain episode where he goes to Japan? The baseball bit is in the first segment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sOcsqaSkJY
  7. I'm pretty sure nobody is pranking anybody. We're all just that dumb. Please explain it to us. I'm serious, please go ahead and explain what you think the situation is and why you think my post (and anybody else's other than the clearly insane silentsnow) was so wildly off the mark as to appear parodic.
  8. It seems to me that the whole thing is playing out exactly as Obama planned/hoped it would. We make a legitimate threat of force, Kerry makes a supposedly offhand remark about Assad giving up his chemical weapons which is Russia's cue to say to Assad hey now there's an idea, and Assad gives up his chemical weapons. Obama gets to look tough and crafty and like a world leader whose own allies can't even keep up with him, Putin gets to look wise and helpful and loyal to his allies, Assad gets to look like a pragmatic non-maniac for once and also doesn't get bombed, and the weapons get dest
  9. That would be a great twist. Alternately, maybe he just wakes up in bed and the entire series was a dream, or else it took place in the mind of a retarded boy as he stared into a southwestern-themed snowglobe.
  10. Lots of theories and possible foreshadowing and color talk, don't read if you don't want potential spoilers. http://www.uproxx.com/tv/2013/08/breaking-bad-blood-money-rewatch-color-schemes-theories-and-foreshadowing/
  11. I doubt Walt will kill her, but I think there's a decent chance she will die. He's probably gonna kill Jesse however.
  12. No, still nothing interesting really. I'm only still watching cuz fuck it I've come this far and I wanna see how it ends.
  13. Xander Bogaerts is making his first MLB start (or appearance) for the Sox tonight.
  14. Huh? Curt Schilling has never tested positive. You might as well say Derek Jeter is a known PED user. It's entirely false. In fact Schilling has been famously anti-PED for a long time. When he went to Congress and testified alongside Sosa and Palmeiro and them, Schilling was there as a vocal opponent of steroid use, not as a suspected user. Ortiz probably used PEDs, although it's far from certain. But equating his "scandal" to the current A-Rod scandal is disingenuous, at best. Ortiz's name was leaked in 2009, as being on a list of over 100 players who had tested positive in 2003
  15. Are you signed in on the wrong account?
  16. You must be creaming you pants right now after A-rod's hr. I don't understand the Dempster hate though. Are beanballs no longer an acceptable part of the game? Sure he should have quit after he missed with the first one behind A-rod, but since the ump didn't warn him he went ahead and did it again. Would you be upset with Dempster if the first one had hit him? Or is your anger just because he went after him again?
  17. Favorite active position player: Pedroia Favorite active pitcher: probably Lincecum Favorite position player all time: Bo Jackson Favorite pitcher all time: Pedro Favorite closer all time: Eck Position player who I wish I'd seen play: Ted Williams Pitcher who I wish I'd seen play: Walter Johnson
  18. So my fawning over Jose Iglesias' defense was certainly validated, as he turned in probably the play of the year for an infielder last night. That throw is just insane. http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=29656865&c_id=mlb&topic_id=vtp_must_c
  19. John Rocker, presumably in an attempt to get fired from the various things he does these days, did an AMA on reddit today. If you think he's changed, all you have to do is read one response from him to realize that, if anything, he's more of an ******* today. Lots of "your mom" jokes. It was so ridiculous that it's being reported in the press now. http://www.reddit.com/r/mlb/comments/1jtko4/i_am_john_rocker_former_mlb_pitcher_here_to_take/
  20. It looks like Iglesias has an RBI single so far in what I think is his first start with Detroit. He didn't exactly scald it though. I really hope he does well and proves himself capable of hitting as high as .270 or whatever, cuz he is so much fun to watch in the field.
  21. Are there even enough catchers? Jesus.
  22. He is very legit defensively. I posted a couple of his prettiest plays a few days ago, but overall he has exceptional range and can get rid of the ball incredibly fast. He's probably started more games at 3b than SS this season, a position which was new to him and which he immediately mastered. So if Cabrera needs to DH once in awhile, he can easily fill in there. His hitting is sort of still a big question mark, because his numbers this season are so clearly an anomaly. He has zero power, but he makes a lot of contact and is fast. He has about 6 bunt hits. He worked all offseason wi
