  1. yea you might be the first person who's gotten in a 3 page discussion with me about poker that doesn't hate me (I think) .... I'm pretty stubborn when I think I'm right, I can be convinced that I'm wrong fairly often, but usually not with something as broad as "50 nl players are good" .
  2. Alright… so I’ve had a couple students the past 2 months, done at least one month with each…they both have seemed to enjoy the experience and have told me they’ve learned a ton, although they could obviously just be lying to me just to be nice. All I can honestly say is that I think they sucked (but were still winning players) when I started with them and I think they’re really good now for the limits they’re playing ($1/$2 - $3/$6 cash and big online tourneys).I get a few PM’s or messages about coaching from time to time but usually decline because I never really thought I could be a good
  3. nah my argument is that those sophisticated plays _will_ work at 100nl , as long as you adjust them a bit.....it's not useless to be thinking like a 3/6 reg playing 25nl, if you're thinking like a 3/6 reg it means you're thinking like a good player which means you should be killing 25nl....and no, making those judgments without putting in 50k hands or even 2k hands isn't ignorant, it's somewhat arrogant, but not ignorant, it doesn't take much playing to know if your better than the avg small stakes grinder, the line begins to blur at 2/4 or 3/6 I think where I often feel like I'm the b
  4. it's very hard to know if it's impossible to get higher winrates than 100nl regs because not many people that could do that would have the disciprin to play their best at those stakes for 100k hands....I wouldn't doubt that there are a lot of players that can achieve bigger winrates without even game selecting just by playing a ton of hands very well. but that's off topic. You seem to somewhat agree with my main point that 100 nl regs are overall bad, they're just good at 100nl.....I never said dont game select, I'm just saying they're not good and you probably don't need to....your winrate
  5. neither have Jman or Ike at 500/1k but I'm sure that they realize they're the best players in the game. it doesn't take very many hands to know that on average games below 3/6 aren't all that tough and rail heaven is usually less tough than most 3/6 games. (when guy and gus and a couple others are in, which is usually when the game runs)
  6. sigh....I should just never post again on the internets where if you don't take your time and choose your words carefully you'll have to deal with 2 pages of arguing... you're lucky I had image shack and paint already open, so I took a couple minutes to draw this masterpiece of a drawing...this explains what I feel about the talent in each level, I ****ed up cuz I did it so fast and I shoulda had 300/600 right up there with 200/400...keep in mind, I'm not talking HU, 6 max or FR, if these nosebleed games run it's usually because theres a couple fish at the table so the games become softe
  7. you don't need sarcasm to let me know that I'm a tourney donk and that you're way better at cash than me, I've known this for months....
  8. 1) 20k break even/losing stretches are somewhat standard, the good players you talk about that have 20k breakeven stretches are not necessarily good nl cash game players, they're just good 100NL cash game players...lol at you thinking I don't realize that 300 hands doesn't confirm anything, all I know is that I've sat in those games and I haven't seen a good player in about 300 hands..I've seen semi solid players, I've seen players that I can tell watch cardrunners and post on 2+2, that doesn't make them good, it just makes them good enough to beat the other fish at .5/1....it's all r
  9. 300 or so at .5/1 enough to confirm they suck, a few k at 1/2 they also suck, a lot at 2/4 and they're nits but still exploitable....way more at 3/6 and most players still suck...shit, most players at railheaven suck (of course I can't play in those games but they do suck)....
  10. no it's not, they suck....you're way better, if you keep thinking they're good you won't make as much as you could in those games.
  11. You guys are giving .25/.50 players WAY too much credit...most of these people have no clue what they're doing, I bet if you shove you get called by smaller pairs AK and AQ WAAAAY more often than you'd think especially since the pot is big and your hand does not look at all like TT+.
  12. bet like 2/3 pot on the flop and fold to a raise, bet the turn when you hit, get all the monies in if they raise....
  13. first one seems fine if he bluffs huge too often, but I bet like half pot or less on the turn most of the time. As played, if he doesn't bluff huge I ch/f river...I lead $2 on the second flop and expect to get raised then I 3bet like $18 and expect to get shoved on by worse all the time.
  14. I made a video of it yesterday.....it's pretty good imo, 2 tabling 3/6 6 max and .5/1 to show the difference.......i dont think they'd let me post the video for free since it's going on pokervt but if a few people here want to watch I might be able to give someone the entire HH and put it in a converter or something.
  15. if you bet 12 he wont fold and the pot is 52 on the river...huge difference no? if you think he folds QQ on the river if you bet close to pot, he still wont fold for 36 and you make another $12....so by betting tiny on the turn you're gaining 24bb's most of the time.that or you can have a 50 vpip at .50/1 and get called by anyone when you pot ever street... I'm almost certain being 50/46/6 ish, is profitable in these games....
  16. lol ...I was up 2k or so this session and lost it all back + a little more, with kings vs Q8 and set under set so I desiced I'd make a video for pokerVT the theme is I play 1 table of 3/6 6 max and one of .5/1 so people can see the difference in play.so obviously I'm playing a 55 VP in the .5/1 and my standard 30 in the 3/6....in the 3/6 game I cant win a hand and in the .5/1 I'm running like god ....should be a good vid though .
  17. mmm...yea for the most part I'm betting the flop once I 3bet pre, I think not doing so is too exploitable....I will give up tho like with A high hands and sometimes check call (but very rarely)...in this situation with J7 I'd prob bet call the flop depending on the guy, and bet fold 99...
  18. Well, the thing is that when he raises the turn, you're pretty much forced to shove....if you were in position you could call and hope he has a bluff and barrels the riv..In this case by shoving you'll shut out his bluffs and basically only be called by hands that have you beat, but I think you're hand is good here often enough to make the shove correct, I think a call in this spot is horrible and I think a fold isn't right most of the time.{edit} going into pot control mode mostly in HU, usually means you're playing bad because you're going through a downswing. I pot control a lot i
  19. so shitty start to my grind, I was stuck with sets KK and QQ and flushes....a lot of it HU..I started playing 3/6 6 max a lot and the past 3 days got way better....
  20. the way I play I bet call for value on the flop... if he calls I check the turn or bet 1/4 ish pot depending on the opponent......my default here early in the match would be $42 pre $54 flop shove on a raise and bet 58-64 on the turn if he calls flop...I think checking mid/top is way too nitty and forces us to get in ugly spots, I'd much rather get it in vs Q8s on the flop and berate him or something, than have him bluff me off or miss value from all the straight draws and air that make a raise there.2nd hand..if he's 3betting 50% you should 2.2 4 bet a lot imo....or call a lot and minraise
  21. I have no idea what to do here vs these guys.....I just no I wouldn't fold...I'd also 3bet pre vs most people....
  22. that's not really what I meant. I don't mind the fact that randoms hit n run, that's standard...I hate when regs accept to play you, suckout or cooler you for 2 buy ins and then continue to play you as a straight up freeroll for the rest of the match because they quit you as soon as you double... I think it's a pretty dick move, right up there with the regs that hit n run....
  23. that was ****ing great....has anyone seen the "I accidentally a fleshligh"? this is the only one I can find, there's some chats missing, but it's still really good:http://i-fleshlight.blogspot.com/2008/09/i...hole-thing.html
  24. nah...I dont really have an issue with that, I understand, it's just frustrating...I have an issue with these guys finally playing you winning 3 buy ins, then quitting as soon as you double cuz they don't want to play deep...you can tell too when they're about to do this they start limping every hand and shit, it's tilting....some just quit you no warning as soon as u double, it's lame...
