Fleury? Only 300 more career games than Bure, roughly the same goals.
-
Two words: Harold Ballard LOL...... seriously, though... there are lots of bad attitudes in the HOF..... never stopped anyone else from getting in..
-
Im willing to bet. The HHOF has never been known for it's restrictive entry conditions, and they ALWAYS have a player or two inducted. Here's the eligible list for 2006..... you tell me who's going in...-Theoren Fleury -Ulf Dahlen-Stephane Matteau-Pavel Bure -Adam Graves -Robert Svehla-Doug Gilmour -Phil Housely -Jyrki Lumme-Sergei Berezin-Sylvain Cote-Patrick Roy -Tom Barasso Roy is a gimme. After that? Gilmour? Roughly the same number of goals in twice as many games..... Housely? A possibility, I'd say a tie for chances with Bure.....
-
btw, Bure is eligble five years from the date of his last pro game, which means he would be eligible for the HHOF next year. I'm taking all bets on his making it in....

scoring streak survival pool- fresh start for nov. 8
gruven replied to gruven's topic in Sports- Hockey
More than one person can pick the same player on the same night. But you can only use that player once for your own pick.... -
okay, fresh start nov. 8 Thread moved to Here:http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...p=526977#526977

okay, as per request: We will start this scoring streak survival pool again to give more people a chance to play along. The prize is: something money just can't buy: Bragging rights. That's all, I'm just a poor boy... Here's how it works: Starting Nov. 8, and twice a week from that point on, a list of games will be posted. You only have to do ONE thing: pick one player from that night's games who will pick up a point. Goal or assist, it doesn't matter. If your players scores, you survive. If he doesn't, you're out. Can't use the same player twice.Simple. You must have your pick in by 5 PM ES

Absolutely agreed!! However, it does show that there is room for a player who had HHOF stats but suffers an injury shortened career.... Would never compare Orr to Bure......
-
My vote is no. He was a very good player when he played, but not good enough to make the Hall. There was a 4 year stretch where he was arguably the best player in the league. He had 5 50+ goal seasons, and his playoff numbers are very impressive. The only argument against him is how short his career was. Short Career? See: Orr, Robert....

You're right, for sure, there are occasionally penalties that are 'smart' penalties, but you HAVE to admit that 90% of the calls in the early part of this season, have been away from the puck, and fill the category of 'unnecessary penalty' quite nicely. If you don't believe me, I'll send you a nice little package of the last 100 penalty calls or so. See how many you think are necessary. Gosh, I dunno...by stopping a breakaway or an odd-man rush?
-
How does hooking a guy as he skates through the neutral zone save a goal?
-
Interesting question, but there is one HUGE variable: The refs have to keep making the calls, and the players would have to be dumb enough not to adjust if they do continue calling everything. I believe Jagr has 8 PP goals of 11. Ovechkin, 3 of 8 are special team goals, etc..... So i predict a downturn in scoring.......
-
Like him or not, you'd be hard pressed to come up with a guy like that who could get the crowd on their feet as he hit the neutral zone on one of those end to end jobs that made so many highlight reels...
-
So just for fun...... Wednesdays games. Ottawa vs BuffaloChicago vs St. LouisL.A. Vs DallasMinn. Vs VancouverNash Vs San Jose Pick ONE player in those games that will pick up a point.....I'm gonna go with Spezza- Ottawa/Buffalo

Check the other threads and you'll realize it was YOU that screwed up...
-
As i pointed out in one of your other threads.... In the outgoing email address you spelled 'survivor' wrong. It should have bounced back to you. If spelling counts, then YOU'RE OUT!!! Tough one.... but if YOU get the address wrong, it's clearly your fault. BTW, I'm definately sour, I was out week 2!!!
-
my proof i made a pick the weekend of oct 28-30

Well, being a poor toronto boy, my prize will be exactly ratio'ed to Daniel's prize, with his personal wealth matched against mine. THerefore, the winner can accompany me to watch game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. On my couch. You bring the beer.......

I've taken part in a couple of these this year, and it's fun. Simple concept: pick one day, usually a Saturday, and everyone has to pick ONE player from the games being played that night. If that player gets a point, you move on. If he doesn't, you're out. If anyone is interested in giving it a try, maybe we can set it up and start Thursday.

who has the coolest or funniest name in hockey?
gruven replied to TheDaveyG's topic in Sports- Hockey
Antti Laaksonen.... sounds like he should come in vanilla or extra strength peppermint, for when your stomach is REALLY upset... -
Done. He's back in Boston, cell number in the email.
-
I distinctly heard him offer the ref a billion dollars to not count the goal...
-
BTW, Daniel, I was talking to Travis Green last night. He said to say Hi. And he's going to play more poker this year.....
-
two weak goals. He should have had Murray's shot, but let it go off his glove and in.
