  1. You can show your cards when deciding whether to call an all in if there's no other opponent in the hand. But what happened here was that the player who went all in showed his cards before his opponent decided whether he was calling or folding.
The real question is who's going to catch for Wake this year???
  2. I am a little confused about how you know #1 had a worse hand unless he put his hand up.While I understand the rule about exposed cards...this rule is intended to protect those still in the hand.  If it is down to two poeple I am under the impression this rule no longer applies.  It is meant to keep people from sharing information.I know that I have at times exposed my cards in heads up as I am making a decision to call an all in.  You should see the shock on your opponents face when you do it.  You can get a tell from them as to what you should do.  Nobody is hurt in that the action is over once you make a decision. One thing is certain, Player #1 does not have to put any more money in the pot becasue Player #2 is an idiot.I am interested in your opinion on the rule in heads up as I explained above.
You're right, you are confused. I was player 1. Player 2 flipped his cards before I could bet on his all in call.
  3. Let me get this straight...if I am heads up with Person X and they go all in.  I can not flip my cards up as I decide if I want to call.  To spark a reaction out of them.I see no harm in this.  I also believe it is outside of the intent of the rule.I do not dispute the letter of the law.Is there anyone out there that runs tournaments that can help?Is DN out there?
I think you're not following. I raised after the river. The guy I was head to head with went all in. I asked for a chip count and he took that as I called and flipped his cards before I could call. I tried to get them to call his cards dead or at least allow me to fold since I hadn't called yet, just asked for a count...
  4. Ok guys here's what happened. I was player 1 and player 2 was a loudmouth that was driving us nutz all nite and was already pretty drunk by hour 6 in the tourney. I asked him for a count cause I was trying to get a read on him. He had been telegraphing a tell when someone asked him about the hand. He'd have a slight smirk on his face if he had a good hand every time once asked something about his play of a hand. He had me beat when he flipped his cards. I tried to suggest the correct ruling would be #1 since he had flipped his cards before the hand was over but it was ruled that #2 was going to happen. In the end it didn't matter cause I put him all in 3 hands later and forced him out before the money. I ended up taking 2nd in the tourney which was fine for a Friday nite and a last minute decision to play. Mike B

  5. Guys, I played at a tourney last night and saw some action at the final table that I am wondering what would be the right call. 2 guys going head to headplayer 1 is betting up the pot and player 2 is callingthe river comes up player 1 bets 20,000 player 2 goes all in to a total of about 50,000player 1 asks him "How much do you have?" and has player 2 covered with chipsplayer 2 took that as a call and flipped his cards beating player 1Player 1 complained that he hadn't called yet and was asking for a count. What is the proper call by a pit boss here? I heard a couple possibilities decisions:1) Hand is dead cause player 2 showed his cards before the hand was done and player 1 wins2) Player 2 wins but player 1 doesn't have to put in the call cause he hadn't3) Player 2 wins and player 1 must put in the full amount of the call

  6. Great idea!!! Hmm.... lemme see, I got loads of free time! I'm also going to open up an amusement park, take up professional bowling, knitting, mountain climbing, ending world hunger.... :-)(SW)
I definately understand what you are saying about the full plate, it is a fantastic idea. If you found the right chef with the right ideas that you could back, let the business manager handle it. But saying that, easier said then done...
  7. Good letter to send. Probably won't get you anything but an appology, but they need to clean up their employee's acts if to be a respectable operation...

Here's a copy of the email I sent the management team at Fish Street Poker. I think I worded it respectfully, and hope to hear a respectful response in return. To whom it may concern (perferably the manager / owner of Fish Street),I played a 1/2 NL session at your cardroom yesterday (Friday), and would like to bring to your attention an incident that occured at my table, but before I do so please let me preface it by saying that after playing several sessions at your establishment, I have had nothing but positive things to say about the facilities, service, staff, etc. Unfortunately, what happened yesterday afternoon has put a permenent blemish on your cardroom's reputation, in my eyes.At the conclusion of a 1/2 hand, an incident occurred with a gentleman by the name of Gary. I will provide you with the basic outline of the hand, to provide you with a bit of a landscape of how it was played. The board showed 3 clubs, with a Queen and an Ace, and 3 rags. I held K-Q, and called a large bet on the river, made by Gary. As I was moving my chips in, I flipped over my hand, exposing the K-Q. He then proceeded to say "nut flush" as he was uncapping his cards. He then showed me the 10 of clubs. At this point, I had just finished moving my chips into the pot, and, disgusted by his declaration and his already shown card, tossed my hand into the center of the table. He then revealed to me his second card; the Jack of hearts (giving him no hand, simply jack-high). I shot him a look and he replied with, "I was lying, your hand's dead. It's my pot."Now, I am aware that because of the fact that I tossed my hand into the muck, that it is killed, and therefor, I forfiet the right to the pot. That is not my issue here. My issue is that, as far as I know, Gary is an employee of yours. I had sat at a table he was dealing for two nights ago during a different session, and recognized him immediately when he sat at my table yesterday. Now, to my knowledge, there is no rule against what he did. However, it is clearly a "dirty" and unethical move, which, I assume, was fueled by the fact that he just got called on an attempted bluff. If this were another random player at the table, I would have been annoyed, but simply moved on. My problem is that he is an employee at your cardroom. In my opinion, when an employee of your's sits at a table to play, he is representing your entire business. Therefor, poor sportsmanship, poor table etiquette, or flat out trickery sheds a very unfavorable light upon your establishment. After all of my praise of your card room, often recommending friends and members of poker forums to your place, I quite honestly found this gentleman's actions to be atrocious and dishonest. If I wanted to play cards at a shady, dishonest establishment, I could go to some of the other rooms I've visited. The reason I continued to come to Fish Street is because it was one of the nicer places I've played in, with very courteous staff and great games. This experience, however, has changed my view. If this type of person is employed by Fish Street, I would feel very uncomfortable playing there knowing that this type of decietful individual is hired and chosen to represent your business. I have had no other problems with any of the dealers in the past, in fact, I generally enjoy their input and convorsation during my sessions, but this gentleman simply crossed a line in my eyes. The sole purpose of this e-mail is simply to bring this to your attention. An young asian man was dealing at the time, and I'm sure he can back up my story. I did not throw a tantrum or act out in any way, I simply gathered my belongings and left. I would like to inform you, however, that after this I will most likely be taking my business and action elsewhere, as well as suggesting that my friends / associates do the same.[/size]I'll post the response when I get it.
  8. I would definitely be up for it.  It's "A Tournament Idea" by the way. If the word following your article begins in a consonant you should use "A" not "An."[/quotelol turd are you and english teacher? You seem to do this alot.
No. I'm just a compulsive genius. I'm actually just messing around. Don't take me too seriously.
lol dont worry with a name like"Turd Ferguson" its very hard to take you seriously :club:
LOL. My name is Caleb. You can call me that if it helps.
Not the famous Caleb C. Clapp of Boston fame?
  9. I don't really get your point about Tom Cruise and movies andhow that relates.  If they made him pay to act in whatevermovie you're talking about, then in turn took all the box officeprofits and didn't pay him for it, I would see how that would equatebut for the time being I have no idea what you're talking about.
That's the movies use to operate. It was called the "Hollywood Studio System". You worked for a wage at a studio and made whatever movie they wanted. No rights...
  10. I put a toothbrush in my own ass last night. Bristle end of course. Didn't really enhance the experience. Side note: my ass is cleaner than it's ever been. It was weird brushing me teeth this morning though. My teeth have never been dirtier. Oh well, live and learn.
    Two words, Go Electric.
Don't forget the floss, or better yet a waterpick...
  11. I own a software company with 40 employees and if I caught someone playing at work, they would get one warning and if caught again, they would be walked out the door.Don't take this the wrong way, but if I'm paying you good money like I do, I expect the time at my shop to be working for me and not playing. Also I pay for the bandwidth so I want it to be used for my company and customers use.

  12. Just curious how you got your FCP namee? Any story behind it? What does it mean/stand for? anything.......?Mine is from my other hobby.  I restore Austin Healeys.  These cars were built in the 1950s thru the mid 1960s.  They were the original car Carroll Shelby wanted to use for the Cobra...i'm bored and  I don't work or have class tomorrow, so i have nothing better to do.
  13. I'm not sure if I should put this in this reply or in the tells one. I play with a guy who usually is very good that has this one tell that I have picked up on that is one of his superstitions. When he does this, I know he's got a middle of the road hand that he's trying to will to be better. I can take him down most times I see him do this. I would mention it, but he frequences this site and might pick up on it, and I like taking his money too much to tell him.

  14. More proof that this moron is a donkey.....He wants to put a stop to lederer running the table over...so he sets up a check raise and exposes his stack to a top pro.Maybe he should have just actually played poker and gotten in the act of stealing the blinds also...What an idiot.
I agree, he was such an idiot that he ended taking 2nd place in the WSOP. I wish I was that much of an idiot...BTW, How did you do in the WSOP?
  15. Daniel to star in new poker version of "The Apprentice." Guides a group of hopefuls in a quest against each other for backing on the 'the tour.'
    Cool.
the popularity of poker and reality tv makes it a real posibility. that would be awesome + a gold mine
I too like this idea. Every week a new tourney and person out first or with least chips is walked to the door. DN's phrase could be something like "Time to cash in your chips"
