Against anyone but a very aggressive maniac this is probably a weak play on every street, imo.On the flop, you're calling the bet with a second best flush draw and a gutshot. I think this is marginal, as you only have three outs to the nuts (the non-club jacks.) If your flush draw was the nut draw, you'd have an easy call or even a raise here. You also still have two people behind you, and while a check raise is unlikely, if one of them has a flush draw too, you either have two fewer outs (if their draw is smaller) or you're going to lose lots of money if they have the A-X of clubs and you

interesting article regarding dn's christmas blog

It's been several weeks since I had a chance to catch up on Daniel's Poker Journal, so I'm responding to this topic rather late. The part I found most interesting was: Daniel, assuming you're talking about the U.S. constitution, the word "God" can't be taken out of the constitution, as it was never there in the first place. Perhaps you meant the Pledge of Allegiance? If so, you should know that the phrase "under God" was not inserted into the pledge until the Red Scare of the 1950s. I share the distaste for political correctness, but there's something to be said for being correct. -
Just curious. Are you still playing the 3-6 games, Smash?I ask because a player would need about an $1800 bankroll to play 3-6, based on the 300X rule. And 30 SNG entries at the $50 level would be $1650, which is about the same bankroll. If a players ROI on the $ 50 SNGs was 24%, he'd be making an average of $12 per SNG. A player making 2 BB/100 hands at 3-6 is making about $12 per hour. I think 3 BB/100 would be close to the maximum that any limit player could hope to achieve. Even then, a player with a 45% ROI (which probably isn't realistic for any player) on SNGs would be making $22.50

Some people complain about the number of "profiles" they do on the players because they cut into the number of hands that can be shown. Others maintain that these are necessary in order to make you care about the players and decide who you will root for.I think one way to satisfy both types when televising a final table is to interview each participant before the final day, and ask them their opinion on each of the other players - what they think of their styles, how they plan to play against them, etc. Then, during the big hands between two players, when one is contemplating whether to call,

$60 is probably too small a bankroll for the $5 SNGS. I would want at least $100 to start at that level, and preferably $150.

You experience this rage only in SNGs? Not when you get outdrawn in cash games?

Grimtaash: 93transam makes a good point. You really don't have a large enough pool of results to judge which game you're better at. If you're a pretty good player, you're going to have some 3 week periods where you're taking a loss, but not many, especially if you're playing often. OTOH, coming in first or second in 85% of your SNGs, while a great run, is not a sustainable one.You have enough money for sixteen $5 SNG entries. I'd prefer a minimum of 20 SNG entries, and 30 would be even better. Your bankroll is more than adequate for the .5 -.10 limit games. Another point in favor of the

Could we at least have a moratorium on making fun of spelling and typographical errors on this thread? It doesn't prove anything, especially when you make punctuation and spelling errors while doing it.

how much life is left in online poker?
Mister Hand replied to jeh1978's topic in General Poker Forum
I think you're overweighing whatever game play differences there are between online and live, and not giving enough consideration to all the other attractions of playing at home. First, there's "location, location, location" as real estate people would say (hard to beat that commute from my bedroom to the study). Then there's the ability to multitask. If you're in a cardroom, you can't play while talking on the phone, surfing the net, watching the program of your choice on TV, etc. And if you're at a big site like Party, you'll never have to wait long for a seat at the game and limits of -
Just a bad idea all around. So if someone with fewer than whatever the number of "required" posts are wants to get some advice in the strategy section about how he played a hand, he either has to make several hundred posts, or hijack another person's thread. The best way to discourage new posters who start threads just to troll is to not respond to their threads - a measure of self-control that some here don't seem to have, no matter how many posts they've made.

who thinks horse should be the me at the wsop
Mister Hand replied to case ace's topic in General Poker Forum
The only problem I see with HORSE being the main event is that it's not very casual-viewer friendly, especially the way that ESPN does the broadcasts. The networks would be afraid that ratings would suffer, and I think they're right. In the Olympics, the decathalon may determine who the best overall athlete is, but the ratings are better for the sprint races. -
okay did i make a mistake on this hand
Mister Hand replied to SOWhatKid's topic in General Poker Forum
Short of going all-in preflop? Probably not.You raised preflop with the best hand, bet half the pot on the flop with the best hand, and went all-in on the turn with the best hand. What mistake do you think you made? -
Kittens can certainly jump onto the rim of a typical bathtub. And not all cats hate water. My guess: The kitten was curious, jumped to the rim, lost its footing and fell into the water. If the bathwater was hot, it wouldn't take long for it to die.

No one is saying that a pp is the other player's most likely hand. We are trying to determine how often he has a hand that will beat us, and comparing that to how often he'll fold to a bet.And while I understand your point about fold equity, the two scenarios have some important differences. In your example, the player betting his ace is a no-brainer, because he has the nuts. In the op's hand, he's betting the board when a call that should be close to automatic will either split the pot or beat him.
