(player was weak tight, preety sure he would fold naked 9 in this spot)

  2. And for those of you thinking I should fold on the flop, remember that a 10 high board is THE perfect board to bluff at on the flop.
A couple questions...How is check calling the flop a bluff? How is checking the turn ( letting him commit himself to the pot) a bluff?
  3. easy play to simply repop and get it in a slight dog against set.Other line to check call and lead in any safe turn/ check fold to a brick and pot.I guess it really depends on mood and if you want to gamble there, the way the table had been playing would be a huge factor on my decision. Though I am probably getting in on flop 75% of time.

  4. Stop when you run out of chips!!!!!!!!!Even if he has the best hand that can fight your hand AA25, you still have 10% positive equity. About 32% for you to take high, while only 22% for him. This is a dream situation, there was no reason to stop. Unless underolled and afraid of the variance, you should have continued to raise till its all in the middle ..............

  5. The way the hand was played I think my only play on river was to check/call here. Anyways, here are the results........... 6. I definitely agree that completing the SB with this type of hand can lead to huge problems and hard decisions.I gave serious thought to check raising the turn here, and in retrospect I feel like this is the best play. From the turn action, I strongly felt like I had the best hand. I could have made it $366 on the check raise and committed myself to a pot as a decent favorite.

  7. Only at table for a few rounds, No real reads.I probably only complete SB 50% of time, but I limped here with all the extra money from the posters.I hit middle set but on a very draw heavy board. I've played some O8 but not a whole lot, still learning how to play certain hands. I thought this one was intereseting.
SB complete is fine,check/3 bet on flop to isolate button.
  9. Hand 1: Stack sizes would be nice to know here. I'm not sure what Sb is doing in this hand..... With no read on BB it is fairly certain that he has A 2 as well. With the weak mini raise pre flop it looks as though he will push his nut low if he gets there, essentially quartering out of all are chips if SB has some sort of high. With that thinking, I pot here with some fold equity from the SB and trying to get it heads up with BB where at least we have a chance to get 3/4. Reads would help a lot in this hand.............. Hand 2: Pot the flop when it gets back to you, I don't really see a case for anything else.

  10. I have become addicted to heads up limit hi/low lately. So much that will not even play 3 handed. Something about that game which is so appealing in terms of being able to get deep inside opponents head and just trying to extract every possible chip that they will let you have. Being able to instantly switch it up when they start to adjust and just really sticking it to them in ways they just cant seem to understand. I have had people in last week call me a bot, lucky ass etc. Very fun. As for what makes the best players. It is the same as in any game, aggression with superior post flop play. Being able to adapt to table and play style that is fit to winning. The most important thing in all cash games, being able to minimise your losses and maximise you wins. I cant tell you how many times I have seen the better PLO8 players beat a game for 5x or 6x a buy in, while almost never seeing a weaker player beating the game for more than 3x. For being a good PLO8 player specifically, it may require a bit more math and ability to be rational. By rational, I mean being able to lay down THE NUTS when times see fit. This is something that many many Holdem players simply can and will not do EVER.

  11. Sorry Cham, I just realized how my read on this guy would come in to play (and how I left it out of the OP)...This guy was playing super-aggressively. Usually when I would flat-callpre-flop, he would pot it back to me out of the BB, and I had been foldinga lot of marginal hands to him. I was surprised to even see a flop in this case. I didn't put him on either of the 2 (flush draw or trips) thatyou mentioned, and thought at worst I'd be up against a wrap, or a solid low draw needing to hit running cards.
Well with read, his range of potting it preflop may be any A or any 2 low cards. So limp should imply a really nasty hand like 3 of a kind of some kind of semi connected high card hand . When he repots to you, looks like you he may have hit pot hard considering his range that he limped preflop and fact that you had been playing relatively tight towards him. So when he still pots it back to you it shows considerable strength.I think I would strongly considering folding this, as YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A MUCH BETTER SPOTS THEN THAT. As ChamonyX pointed out, what are you really ahead of?

  13. ChamonyX posting a link a while ago to a smash post where he said that you should never raise out of the Blinds unless you have enough equity to commit yourself to the pot. I have been thinking about this and have watched my own play in Binds and some of the better players to whom I respect. I notice that when they do raise out of blinds it is typically in a multi way pot and their raise is much more for value often making it just $6 in 1/2 game or $12 2/4 when they could have simply potted it. Anyways, as for this hand. It is an example of what happens when raising out of SB is very wrong. For my play, I will often open raise the pot preflop about 50%-75%%. This is fairly standardThoughts?
