Scram,That is what I was looking for...I appreciate the advice.....I will keep plugging away....any idea on what the % in the money should be for a solid sng player?Jayray

LOL...no catfight, but I try not to be the player that blames a losing streak on Variance....I am the first to admit when I misplay a hand...I am just looking for some advice on what to play...everything I read on BR management talks about not buying into a sng with more than 10% of your BR....the only sng's on FT for less than 10% of my BR are turbo sngs....and I am not a fan of those...Jayray

I get what variance is......I am talking about going up against people that think the correct play is to push every hand, or every couple hands with 1300 in chips and 15/30 blinds.....you can only fold so many premium hands before calling.....yesterday, I had KK busted by 33.....that is what I am talking about....maybe variance is not the right term...I am talking about getting my money in good and losing.....

Scram,Thanks for the feedback, and I don't take it personal, but just to make sure that I am getting you to answer the right question...I lost my br playing PLO because I thought it would be a fun game....quickly realized that I sucked, and went back to NLH.....I seem to be a better than average player, at least in the NLH $2 tables, but variance seems to hit me hard, especially when I play the H/U with people who think it is cool to just move in every single hand.... so for the sake of my question, assume that I am decent at NLH...what should I do with only $17....other than NOT play PLO

Here is where I am with my br......I put $50 on FT about 2 months ago....quickly got smacked down to ~$15 attempting to play .05/.10 PLO and have been grinding it out in $2 NLH sngs every since to try to build it back up....my problem is that I seem to take 1 step forward and then 2 steps back....long story, but I don't really have money to add to the br, so i am just trying to make the most of what I have, but it seems that I will win one ($9/$6.75NET) and then lose 2 or 3....so here I am 2 months later at $17....Now I am the first to admit that I am not pro material, but I think I play prett

Just wanted to say a quick thanks to those who offered their perspective....and no thanks to those who turned the thread into a debate about their own character...I was just looking to see if there were others that had the same or similar questions that I do...it is nice to know that I am not the only one...thanks again.

I am reading "A Case for Christ"...and Daniel did send it to me....it just seems that most of the arguments are based on the Bible...so I am struggling a bit....it is a bit of a circular argument, right? To justify the validity of something by quoting the item that needs validating?....I don't know...I am just struggling a little and was looking for some perspective....

Hello All,Let me start by saying that I am a believer, but have many questions as to whether or not the Bible is actually the word of God....I began this topic with my family, but was quickly told that I am completely wrong to question the Bible and that " the devil is working in me to discourage believers"...bla bla bla....Anyway...on the Bible.....it is widely believed that the Bible was written by 60+ authors that were "inspired" by God.....what would happen today if 60 guys got together and wrote a book, and then told the world that they were "inspired" by God? We would think that they we

OK-In our weekly home game...we start with 2k in chips with 10/20 blinds and 20 minute levels. It goes:10/2020/4025/5075/150100/200150/300and on and on....This week, I busted out in 8th place...13 players....but when I busted out...the blinds were already up to 500/1000....so the average stack was like 3200 in chips....so the whole table is playing with an average of 3 bets....I get it all in with AQ against KT...KK5 flop and I am done....So my question is....does this schedule make sense? Is our schedule too slow, or do we start with the right amount of chips? Just looking for some help..

Should I Have Been Able To Get Away From This?
Jayray replied to Jayray's topic in General Poker Forum
Thanks all...sounds like you are all confirming what I already knew...A)should not have limped here with A4 and the amount of chips that I had....and B) should have seen the flush (at a minimum) on the turn.....thanks all for the input.... -
Ok....so I am still steaming at myself a little, because I probably could have laid this down...but I wanted to get some perpsective from you guys.....so here is the hand. I am UTG with ~$4500 in chips with blinds at 150/300 and limp with As4s. One other guy limps two to my left and the BB checks his option. The flop comes Ad2d3c. The SB and BB check, I bet 700 into a 1200 pot. Guy to my left calls....both blinds fold. Turn is a 3d....check, check....river is a 5c giving me the wheel. Now I am pretty sure that I am good here...I put my opponent on a big Ace....maybe Aces up....I bet 700

fleung22 Posted Today, 10:37 AM if you have to ask...YOU SUCK Thanks for the wonderful insight........overall, I was up just over $1100 for the year last year.....but I am not sure how much of that I can attribute to playing well vs. what could be a weak home game and a lucky run at Caesars......

Ok- Obviously, I don't post alot, more of a lurker...but I consider myself fairly decent at NL but seem to be in a bit of a slump. Now before you read further, I will warn you that I play only a fraction of what most of you do, so my data points are limited. Here goes....I started playing hold em about the same time that everyone else did a few years back with the whole Moneymaker boom and all, and have done consistently well in my home game (weekly game $10 buy-in with around 8-12 players every week and I am up $510 for the year last year). I have only played live (in a casino) poker twic

Ok....I know that this has been kicked around on here a bit many times, I am looking for an article or quote by a pro concerning proper etiquette here. Situation: One player is all in for $500, and two players call.. I tend to feel that if I have a decent hand...TPTK or a solid draw, that whether I have a made hand or not, I benifit from betting and moving other players off of their draws, leaving only the all-in player to showdown with....Anybody have any links or opinions? I always seem to get into this argument in my home game if the situation occurs, and would like to know what other sol

I play in a weekly home game...nothing big...$10 buy in NL Holdem..last week we were playing and realized half way through the night that the deck was not right...there were 5 Q's and only 3 K's.....we had made sure that we had 52 cards, but had not checked more than that....should we have started over? We had already had 3 guys bust out...all in hands that involved K's and Q's...what would you guys do?
