  1. Any critiques of this hand would be awesome. I just started playing 6 max in place of full ring. When the 2nd Q hit the turn, i really didn't know what to do. Do I give up on my hand after he calls the turn bet? I really have no reads, since I just joined this table. Was that a terrible bet on the river? I didn't know if I should c/f, or take a shot at it.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)SB ($24.40)BB ($39.90)UTG ($56.45)Hero ($27.10)CO ($22.25)Button ($4.65)Preflop: Hero is MP with 6, 5. 1 fold, Hero r
  2. What strat books should I read then? I was under the impression that SS1+2 were some of the best strat books out there...

  4. I was just re-reading Super System today, and came upon the part where Doyle says he would rather have AK than AA or KK. His reasoning is that with AA or KK you either a) win a small pot or B) lose a huge pot. I can understand that. However, I think I disagree with Doyle. AK is still a drawing hand, and you need to hit on the flop to make it playable (excluding bluffs and continuation bets). I have had AA and KK many times and beat QQ, JJ, and 10 10 when we both got it in preflop. I'm assuming this isnt as prevelent at the higher levels that doyle discusses (I play .50/1 up to 1/2)? Just wonde
  5. haha, good point naismith. i've been blasted in the past for posting something in here that didn't directly relate to an actual NL hand. so i figured id throw that plea in there, glad you got some humor out of it
  6. ive been playing poker for about 3 years now, but not very seriously. however, all of that is about to change. I am going to start at .10/.25 NL and work my way up. I have read super system 1 and 2, but thats all. what I want to know is, if you had to make a top 5 list of poker books for someone in my position, what would they be? Thanks for your help
  7. yea, i bought into step 1 for 500 FPP, and won the first 2 tables i was at. so im going into step 3 right now. it seems like a pretty legit setup, I just didnt know if the competition gets ridiculous as you get to step 4/5/6.
  8. Just wondering if you guys have any experience with this, and if it is worth pursuing. any help/advice would be much appreciated
  9. I think after the raise to 90, Button either has a set, AsKx, or possibly AxQx. If this was me, I would of called the raise and re-evaluated on the turn. You have 4 outs if he flopped the flush. If he has a set, youre basically dead in the water. The best you can hope for is a call with the A of spades. If i called the raise, and the turn was a blank, youd have to push at that point.
  10. I made $325 Monday Night, Lost $350 Tuesday afternoon, and made $175 Tuesday Night. Overall +150. All 1/2 NL. The first night my table was pretty ridiculous, with the average preflop raise about $14. I bought in for $150 (Max was 300, I brought 250 to play with). Basically just played tight, played good hands aggressively. won big pots with AA and KK. also picked up KK UTG, and called. player to my left made it 10, and got 5 callers, haha. I popped it to $60, and everyone folded. also won a $175 pot when I had K 10 in the big blind. About 5 callers, and I checked. flop came K3K. I checked, guy
  11. hey guys, thanks for the tips. i ended up playing 1/2 NL at the borgata. came out up 150 after about 8 hours of play. kind of disappointing, but for my first time in a US casino, ill take it
  12. yea, im definately gonna play tight. just want to see how far i can go with 250. thanks
  13. whats up guys. im heading down to atlantic city tomorrow for the first time. just wondering what the lowest limits are for NL (1/2?). Also, which casino would you recommend. I can only take $250 down (give me a break, im a poor college kid). any info would be helpful.PS i posted it here because the forum for B&M card rooms had like 3 comments total.thanks guys/girls
  14. i just watched that animation on cardcores footer about 6 times in a row...
  15. I wasnt sure what to make of his $1 bets. I assumed they were blocking bets. When the river hits, should I just call his raise? Was I wrong to re-raise? 16. I think everything is standard, up to the river. When a club doesn't fall, do i assume I have the best of it, and value bet? should i have bet like 10-15? 17. Second hand of the tournament, so I have no reads. I thought hard about what to raise to. I figured with 400, I would get 1, maybe 2 callers. When i got 3 and an ace on the flop, I guess i assumed someone had an A, and essentially forfeited the hand. I thought If I bet 500 and someone re-raised, i would have to call and would most likely lose to an A. If I went all in, I had a feeling someone had checked an A, assuming I would bet again. Basically I figured that with 3 callers, one of them had a big ace, and chose to slowplay it to induce a bet from me. What do you guys do in this spot? Bet mo

  19. this looks pretty standard to me...KQ most likely calls you down, possibly KJ. I could also see QQ or JJ calling, although that is more unlikely. I dont think AA, would flat call preflop, or just call on the flop and turn...id say youre ahead at this point, and after the turn bet, you really dont have any choice but to put the rest of it in
  20. thanks for the input guys. yea, im definitely never folding. i guess the min raise was ill advised. so we all agree a raise to roughly $20 is the correct play on the flop?
  21. I was debating just a call, but i tried to get fancy and min raise him. i was hoping he would put me on a bluff, and go over the top. should i have just called, and hope he bets into me on the turn? or do you guys like a bigger re-raise?PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)BB ($52.75)UTG ($21.40)UTG+1 ($27.90)MP1 ($50)MP2 ($49.65)MP3 ($11.20)Hero ($50)Button ($61.55)SB ($56.40)Preflop: Hero is CO with 4, 4. 22. I 3 bet in order to try to narrow down his possible hands. I figured KK or AA would shove, and I could get out at that point. I should have raised more, I realize. On the flop, i tried to bet low to induce a raise. I guess one of my weaknesses is im scared to chase people out when i hit a flop hard...

  24. literally second hand at this table. I was hoping for a re-raise preflop, which is why i just called the initial raise. after the re-raise came, i should have re-raised. however, I wanted to be tricky for some reason and just called. After his flop bet, do you guys call and hope he pushes the rest of it in on the turn, or do you push all in (like i chose to do)?PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)SB ($87.90)BB ($10.70)UTG ($21.35)UTG+1 ($50.50)MP1 ($42.45)MP2 ($50.80)MP3 ($24.20)Hero ($49)Button ($74.45)Pref
