  1. I am so glad someone at least brought up the fact that this was discussed AT LENGTH by Paul Phillips and on 2+2. This is a lame rehashing of old stuff.I like the "if you think it's #2 you haven't thought about this nearly enough" --- at least in the realm of no limit tournaments which is the context the problem was originally phrased in "What % of tournaments could you win if...."Also, for you bozo's out there who say you know the flop with goggles #2 is coming 222 and I with my goggles #1 and my AA see you holding 2-4 - don't think I am calling all in pre flop with this hand if you can in an
  2. It would not surprise me if Tim Phan or Joe Cassidy were staked into those higher games and directly paid for only a smaller percentage or were playing on a commission type basis with little risk. This is not to say that they are not great players, it may say more that someone else thinks your good enough to start risking stacks of white chips on your play ; )
  3. YES I PUSHED HIM.I felt it was AA and if he had a limp reraise in him with QQ or JJ so be it. I was doing well at the table and playing with profit which is the best way to take a shot at something bigger.Turn 7 CRiver 4 DHe held red QQ. Ouch.My "Club draw" would have been good, otherwise I had one out. Thanks for the confirmations that I made the 'right' play. I felt it was best too. If it's set over set oh well.Cheers.
  4. Hadn't thought much about it, but can't really argue with some of the logic. I remember Danneman saying at one point right after the thing that he just wanted it to be over - although the hand they got all the money in on sure didn't look too scripted as far as being a semi logical hand to put big money in.I don't know if the wsop has any regulations (enforceable or otherwise) on deals, didn't check my tourny rules when I was there.
  5. So I am playing 2-4 Blind NL Cash, bought in a modest 200 of the 400 max. I am catching good cards, mostly were sitting 4 handed, occasionally 5. A buddy of mine sits down and I flop two monsters on him, he partially pays on both. But overall I was playing fast, winning many pots without showdown and catching a card or two when it was convenient. I had just hit a high water mark of about 1100 (things were going really well) when this hand comes up as the table is starting to fill up.UTG limps (he has 650, 2nd biggest stack and fairly conservative - other players recently joined table so no
  6. This sounds like some good stuff - does anyone have a west coast (Las Vegas) air time schedule (yea, I am tired and I don't want to search for it - lol)
  7. Not sure if he's playing too loose, I tend to think he is playing the same game he's always played....if you know anything about DN's style he loves post flop play. I think the problem is a slight run of bad luck. Plus, you can kid yourself all you want, but there is a lot of "gambling" going on. Farha was in the game....I've seen him snap off aces in a live NL game with 3-8 off when all he hit was the 3 on the flop.... nuff said.
  8. Best online run - I ran $300 of borrowed money into $6000 in a week on Ultimate bet playing 10-20 and 15-30 limit.Best Cruise run - playing black jack I ran my last $35 into $3500 in a half hour before the casino closed as we got back to int'l waters.A good 1 nite Vegas run - turned $75 playing double deck blackjack into $10,000 in about 2 hours at Arizona Charlies (they refused to budge of $500 max bet so I left)The monster Vegas nite - turned my last $500 into $52,000 in one hour playing BJ out of an automatic shuffler at Mandalay Bay - it was shuffling well : ) - this was a middle chapter
  9. MODERATOR, THIS DUDE IS RIDICULOUS - I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE'S BELIEFS ARE ON RELIGION. I HAVE MY OWN AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS. BUT PUMMELLING EVERY THREAD ON HERE WITH THAT IS JUST PLAIN BS. DELETE THE DUDE'S POSTS AND GET HIM OUT. I HATED TO DIGNIFY HIS CRAP WITH ANYTHING, BUT I BROKE DOWN AND DID - JUST BOOT HIM FOR THE LOVE OF.... lol!
  10. I certainly tend to disagree that losing or losing a significant chunk of one's bankroll is impossible or even near impossible. Phil Ivey, in his own admission, was kept near broke for quite some time (he kept running into Henry Orenstein - inventor of "Transformers" and "the hole card camera" we all love - Henry wasn't EVER going broke, but a young Phil had that risk). I have heard from several sources, don't know if /where it might be documented that Johnny Chan had a roughly 3 year stretch of bad luck/bad cards. Like I said, not sure where to confirm it, but it could be anyone at anytime
  11. I will say that the above post by Deli Chef has some pretty good advice in it. This is my first post here though I have been reading quite a bit - I guess your plight has inspired a number of responses though I will say the back and forth bashing that the replies got into became quite tiresome. In any case, my advice comes from someone who has lived a lot in my 29 years on this earth. I will say this:GET YOUR EDUCATION GET YOUR EDUCATIONGET YOUR EDUCATIONGRADUATE GRADUATE GRADUATE (it doesn't even matter what you choose to study, just pick something you like and earn your degree as quickly a
