  1. I don't want to go through the whole thing, but if you list out a bunch of hands, I wouldn't mind going through and giving you some feedback.
same here. I know I said I'd go through it but my internet has been the ghey for the last two days and I only just today got it back working properly. That's a shitload of hands if I remember when I uploaded it, so I'm going to look at the ones that have been referenced so far, and I'm interested in what happened in the one that you said you folded bc of me.
  2. haha omg awesome i knew i would get some good responses here, thanks to everyone who responded except the jerk who said seinfeld was over rated. id also like to add the part at the very end of the last episode when jerry comments on the location of georges top button on his shirt . lol thanks again ! :club:
Interesting that a lot of people don't know. They wrote that part bc it's also the very first conversation that was ever on the show. The opening of the pilot had Jerry and George in the original coffee shop and they had that same convo, then they ended the series with the same convo, hence the "have we had this conversation before?" line.Fav episode has to be "The Bet".
  3. Jesse, why do you and Jam-Fly always have the same avatars?
it was discussed in a thread last night. I figured it out when I changed mine to my gay pride flag lol. When we all changed out avs to JC's Mexican crowd one, I was the first one to change. When Jam-fly and some others changed theirs later, they used the link to the pic that was in my profile and not jcs. So, their avatars are setup to be whatever is in the link to my avatar. So whenever I change my picture, theirs changes. When I changed to the Italian flag, theirs did automatically, and now they have my gay pride flag hahahaha
  4. I'm in Cinci...well, Central Kentucky now, but I digress. I've always thought about doing something like this. Maybe a meetup at a Casino or something, but never gotten around to it. Good Luck though, I'm probaby too far away to take advantage of a meetup like this, but I'd probably consider it a little anyway.
Kind of the reason I pointed out earlier that some people don't attend Vegas ones. They aren't old enough i.e. me. If it was a good Indian casino or something that is 18+ and spreads poker we could do that, but there possibly might be people who aren't even old enough for that.
  5. People who say, "People who wear sunglasses, any sunglasses, at a home game or at a casino are DOUCHEBAGS. " are DOUCHEBAGS. Period. That is all. This also goes for the ****** who says, "This also goes for the ****** who wears a hooded sweatshirt."Everyone has their unique strategy and style.
This is true, so I don't just generally hate or have a problem with people who wear sunglasses at a table. However, if you're sitting in a 1/2 game or a low stakes home game or something and you want to wear glasses, it's probably because you want to look cool and like a real poker player like on tv. It's people like that that I have a problem with because it's just stupid. And by "you" earlier I mean a person, not you specifically, for clarification.
  6. I've seen a few people around that are in or around St. Louis/the Midwest, but I've never really concentrated on finding them. We've seen FCPers do meets in Vegas and some other cities. I've always wanted to take part in something like that but the Vegas ones are kind of difficult as some of us aren't 21. Just curious who is in the midwest and might be interested in attending/hosting something like this. I'm not planning one or anything officially, but I'd like to see what people from STL, Chicago, central Illinois, Kansas City, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc. think.

  7. Who else is watching this now and thinks this is one of the coolest shows on TV right now? When the plans for this show were released, my then GF tried to get me to make one to audition, as it would definitely be one of my dreams. I didn't end up doing it, but I'm loving this show right now.

  8. K I just watched the video and heard Amnon's comments. Not a lot of content to get any new info, other than he implied that he pushed the flop and both Chip and the button folded and he picked up the pot. I was unaware of that, and was under the impression that the button had called the push after Chip folded. That doesn't change anything about our actions, I just thought it was interesting that the button folded. I'm guessing he did not have what I was almost certain he had (JJ with a small possibility of 99). I was pretty confident about that but once again I'm not sure how deep his stack was preflop with the 11k in front of him. I guess he had QJ? Hoos do you know by chance?

  9. Ok I'm back and have reconsidered just about everything looshle, Grinder, and I were discussing. Plus we now have the most important info which obviously is FWP's input. Lol jk Hoosier's table info now is what I've been wanting.

definitely an interesting spot pre and post flop.correct way to play it pre is obviously dependent on 1) table's perception of jon and 2) jon's perception of how active everyone behind him will be if he limps/std raises/shoves. none of us can really make any judgements on that front. i trust that he made the right decision preflop (i'm assuming he hadn't been very active and had probably not moved his whole stack in preflop yet), and i agree 100% with the flop action.i also agree with grinder that a shove preflop needs to be considered due to 3rd level thinking. if you're another player at the table, you basically expect someone with jon's stack to limp with a hand as big as KK, and you'd probably never give him credit for shoving KK preflop in that spot. i think there's a good chance he'd get looked up by [77+, AJ+].
I'm almost certain that as long as there isn't a total donkey at the table (which I seriously doubt there was), this is not true. I'm positive an open shove is only getting called by QQ+ and AK. At least that's what my range would be here, unless I just had the shortest of short stacks in which case it doesn't even matter bc all of Hoos' money doesn't get in if I have a shorter stack.
I like shoving preflop more than raising to 15k. 4X? who opens for 4X utg? Who opens for 4x anywhere on the table for that matter? If i'm raising here it's 11 MAX most likely 10-10.5.
Exactly. I really think raising to 15k or really anything over 12k is the WORST play here. It can absolutely only be read as a HUGE hand and will not get action from anything but AA, KK, and maybe maybe maybe QQ. The 4x raise is worse than the open shove preflop bc at least some thinkers could figure the open shove as a scared player looking to pick up blinds with TT/JJ or maybe AQ and Hoos' might get action from AQ/AK/JJ and double up. The 4x raise isn't going to let anyone make a mistake by getting their money in bad, except maybe QQ and banking on that is just foolish.
I'm not calling jon without AK, AA, KK, or QQ. A "satellite donk/ scared kid" would not want to bubble so a limp doesn't look as strong as it normally would.
That would also be my range, possibly even eliminating AK but that would depend on how I felt at that moment, I wasn't at the table so can't say for sure. A limp definitely does not have to be a huge hand as it might be him looking to see the flop with a hand that isn't strong enough to want to raise/push but also could be nice if it hits. A scared/inexperienced bubble player would do something like that. Now, however, Hoos' has told us he hadn't open-limped all day so that would be the argument against the limp which is totally understandable.
I was drinking heavily last night so couldn't respond to any posts.I think its a very interesting spot, that could be played any of 3 ways preflop. As for my image, the only players that had played with me on previous days were Shannon Shorr and David Matthews briefly on day 2. We had only been playing for an hour today, so the rest of the table didn't have much to work on.Here are the hands that I played all day so people know how many pots I was opening: 4th hand of the day Amnon opens and I move in with AK he calls with jacks and I lose the race. That cripples me to around 35k. One orbit later Amnon open limps, I ship for 30k total with 1010 and I double through Amnon who had 106. Now I have around 70k. Next hand it folds to me in the sb and the first card I see is an ace, the bb only has about 30k and I move in, he folds. After this I make a couple standard opening raises to 11k and take down the blinds, I had not limped all day though.Limping here is definitely an option, and I thought about it but I'm not all that sure I would get raised behind. The table was not playing very aggressive at all, and I had been playing decently active without ever open limping, so I thought my standard opening raise was the best way for me to double through. As for the flop play, I thought about it alot last night and I think I played it correctly. The entire hand is "close", but I don't regret how I played it. I'm the type of guy who always takes a deep look at his play and isn't afraid to admit when he misplays a hand, so I enjoy the discussion very much. I wish the results could have been different, but oh well SIGH.
Ok now knowing all of the relevant information about the table, it's clear I think that I would be making the standard raise preflop. If 11k was your standard, then that's what the raise should be. 9.5k-10k could also be good raising amounts, but as you said you'd been going to 11k so that's the amount that is best, it clearly disguises the hand as Hoos' said he hadn't shown too many hands, if any, when he made the standard raise. The only hands that Hoos' has shown are the AK when he pushed to Amnon's raise and the TT when he pushed over Amnon's limp. Both solid hands, and he'd never shown a hand when he raised to 11k, as he had just picked up the blinds. Because of this, Hoos' utg raise to 11k might even be perceived as weaker than normal since apparently his preflop raises had been respected the entire day and he possibly could have been taking advantage of that and the fact that the utg raise looks stronger normally to pick up some needed blinds around the bubble with a shortish stack.Limping is a great choice generally, I think, but in this case (never preflop limped before, non-aggressive table) makes it the second best behind the std. raise. Had the table been more aggressive, meaning he would have a better chance to reraise push pre, limping would be probably the #1 choice.I think we've pretty much covered the preflop action thoroughly and I don't see the best chance at getting our money in as being the preflop standard raise. Second would be the limp, third the push, and fourth the 4x raise. Now postflop I think we still have some stuff to cover. I haven't watched the Amnon video yet and I'm going to do that now. I'm interested in what he's going to say.
  10. Do all u who play ring games do this? Using 25 NL as example... I would definetely reload below 20, but u suggest as soon as u are in the game and blinds pass (if u dont play) and are at 24.25 reload?
I haven't played ring NL in awhile, but I've played PLO fairly recently and theory-wise, I think yes reloading after the blinds would be the correct play. Practically though, If you play a pot with 24.25 here I don't think you should kick yourself obv.
$20 was my bankroll, its all i had. But we're not talking bankroll management here, we're talking about approaches to poker (excluding bankroll management)!
Sorry, but we really can't ignore that. Stop playing 25NL if your BR is 20. Approach to poker-wise, you're fine. Your theory and opinion was miles ahead of your friend's. While I still think your exact play with the KK might not have been perfect, the theory behind if was waaaaay better than your friend's.
  11. I really think that all of us are correct at the same time. However, this is with us assuming all things are equal (strength of table/aggressiveness of table/our image/others' images/closeness to bubble/avg stack size). With that in our way, Grinders argument for a preflop push is very good. My argument for the std. raise pre is equally good, and looshles argument for the creative limp/reraise is also good. The problem is that all things definitely are not equal. So many different things are playing a hand in this for Hoosier that we are totally uninformed on.For example, and this is totally a hypothetical...our decision will be affected IMMENSELY when the situation changes like this...Hoos' stack=6.5MAvg. stack in tourney=8M100 people left, 95 get paid, we're in 50th place.ORHoos' stack=6.5MAvg. stack in tourney=20M100 people left, 95 get paid, we're in 96th place. Our goals/considerations for this hand are totally different and would obviously change each of our arguments greatly. Since we have to assume that we are in the middle on every one of the conditions I think my preflop standard raise is best, but is not too far ahead of the other two choices.I think if Hoosier decided on the standard raise, there must have been a reason making that play better than the shove and the limp, as I'm sure he considered all three equally. I think that maybe Steve is so confident in his opinion bc he might have some kind of information about this hand/the table/a specific player in the hand that he does not want to share with the public and is therefore the reason he PM'ed it.

  12. why are you sitting at 25NL with $6?
    Good question.
I originally had $20, got crippled holding A-K to a A-Q-9 board. I bet, got re-raised, i re-raised all-in got called by A-9. That left me with $2. After being left with $2, I was able to min-bet some flops and get everyone to fold, it was hilarious. I would limp, board would come something like A-A-Q. I bet .25, instafold all around. This happened for like 8 hands. That's how i got back up ot $6.
And you didn't reload IMMEDIATELY why?
dont value anything less than 20BB's in a cash game.if i get crippled at a cash game table, I'll shovel to double, while i grab money to re-load. if by some chance i double or triple or quad up. then i wont have to rebuy as much. but still.play the levels you are comfortable wth
I love you, but that's a bad idea.I kinda just quoted the posts I had a response to. OP, the correct action for your hand depends on the table/stacks/images. You said the UTG had been playing VERY tight lately. If that's so, why wouldn't the UTG limp set off alarms in your head? Usually an UTG limp is very strong. Then again, this is 25NL so I don't put anything past anyone. I don't think .75 is the best raise, though. I think a little more is correct, like 1.25 or so. However, this discussion is aggravating as there is absolutely no reason you should have 6 in front of you. Top off after every hand if you want to maximize your profitability.
  13. Also, this discussion is really really interesting, and I'm really curious for Hoosier to come in and define his table image a little better and what his thoughts are of all the possibilities.
Agreed, I love hand discussion. I was just in my kitchen re-heating leftover Chinese and still thinking about all the different possibilities and couldn't wait to come back and see who replied.
  14. Also, I'm not saying his opponents could view a shove as a LEGITIMATE weak hand. By weak hand I meant something like (1010-qq/ak) Am I way off in assuming that when Hoosier puts chips in the pot here he's strong or do you agree with me?
I think you two just had different definitions of weak and strong. According to you, strong is only AA and KK, weak here is TT-QQ and AK. Personally I feel AK and QQ should be included in strong, and TT and JJ could be classified as minimums.Yes, I think we can all agree that he doesn't have less than TT with a shove here. I wouldn't think it would be anything else, but once again we are totally unaware of table images and the aggressiveness of the table around the bubble.
  15. I think you and I are on different pages. Steve is advocating a flop shove. I am discussing the merit of shoving preflop. I am in the check/shove to one bet camp for the flop.
Ok, I had a brain fart I guess bc I was temporarily thinking Steve was also advocating the push preflop. I would like to hear Steve's thoughts on the open shove on the flop, but I guess that action is for a different discussion as we're talking preflop right now.I am also in the check/shove camp on the flop, but I'm in the standard raise pre camp and I think the open shove prelop is the third best option behind standard raise and limping. Limping is interesting and will get his money in pre almost certainly (although we have to remember that the button possibly could have had QQ or JJ and would probably come with Chip on the raise). Hindsight is 20/20 on the limp, though, so I prefer the std. raise.
  16. I didn't try to define Hoosier's range for a shove utg with that stack because I don't know how he's been playing his stack. I'm saying his hand could be perceived as weaker and get called by the range I outlined
Ok so the range was your calling range from the players, not Hoos's shoving range. All cleared up and I take back what I said about Reese not calling if that's Hoos's range bc that post is now irrelevant.Without knowing any images/etc. I don't like pushing bc like I think looshle said it greatly reduces the chance that you double up. An open push from UTG looks very strong to me. Had his M been 3 or something horrid like that ya, the push will have a wide range. With his stack at that point I think it looks super strong and I definitely don't think Chip is calling unless Chip just had an ungodly stack which I don't think he did.Hoos did say that the button ended up with either two pair or a set on the flop, so I guess it's possible he woke up with QQ or JJ. An UTG push would almost certainly get called by the QQ and possibly by the JJ. I doubt he had QQ though as Chip had AQ, and with the amount of time Hoos said the button took, JJ and 99 sound much more likely.
