it's just the old san remo redone to look like a big hooter's. it's right near the trop and MGM if i recall. when i was there there was a very deep, very loose NLHE game going at one table. i think it was playing 10-handed and looked kind of crowded. there was one guy who was so drunk he was just pushing with any ace and picking up 3-5 bucks a hand, until he went broke to a guy with jacks. it was retarded.

lol. good luck on the bar. i'm licensed to practice in iowa and california and took both exams in those states. they suck...

it's weird to hear joe stapleton and scott huff shoot the **** on a podcast after playing in their old home game for over a year. i kind of miss it.

i guess i didn't think it was that offensive, though i could see how other people might. i primarily just thought it was a lot of effort and risk for something that wasn't that funny or interesting. either way.as for the trading places parallel, that was a real movie, 24 years ago. are we more PC now? obviously, since we're still talking about this.

dude. it was 100% blackface. funny or not, take the heat you deserve for this one. seriously. (hint: you deserve it.)
-
no. in that spot, it was a carefully weighed risk executed in the moment against a guy who didn't want to go broke or nearly broke. he wouldn't do that with $30,000 in chips.if you can't play like that in a tournament against active players (and if the people you're playing against aren't total donks who will call with whatever), you can't get that many chips and you can't slow the guy down who keeps raising every pot as this guy must have been.it's not sick. not "sick" like making a weight bet, or putting 20k on a coin flip. it's "sick" like, "nice play, man." nothing more.

what does he mean, PLAY FOR REAL?
-
i'm ok with the smaller-than-standard preflop raise in general, but when your stack is this low relative to blinds, let's be a bit more serious. that said, here's the thing about your play: when you do make a wishy-washy raise like that, you're basically hoping for a hand like AQ or AJ to miss the A and/or make TPTK with the Q or J with no draws. think about how rare that is. so, you have to be ready to lay your hand down and not think twice when you encounter resistance on the flop or turn and/or these easy situations don't present themselves. here, your kings were either already drawing dead

A Little Rant About 3-6 Limit Hold Em
DB10-2 replied to Willing 2 Die's topic in General Poker Forum
YSAP. or:raise more and fire at more flops. even in limit poker. you're asking to lose to the idiots you described limping with AQ and reasonable pairs. if you encounter resistance, reassess and slow down. this will, over time, be more profitable. -
seriously. all i could think was, "how many times have i done this to a similar player, only i had J3o?"i'd love to get dealt aces against a tight player. why he didn't give up all his money will just have to be a question for the ages.

i read about halfway through before i realized you aren't that great at poker. how'd you end up?
-
here's the deal. first, he might have had the best hand. second, he picked a great spot against another player with a lot of chips.it's not that sick, it's not that great. it's just a pro move that most people on this forum will salivate over/make fun of depending on how it works out.my guess is daniel would pooh-pooh this kind of move in most situations, but that doesn't make it wrong.

you're joking, right?

Bad Beats, Bad Plays, And Losing Huge Pots
DB10-2 replied to TylerSalzman's topic in General Poker Forum
yeah. i had aces cracked by a guy holding AKs the other night in a live game for a pretty big preflop pot. he just couldn't fold it. it was the difference between a decent win and a small loss for the session, actually. i can get over beats pretty fast these days; i just say to myself, "it's ok. it's all one long game. sometimes you'll get this lucky, and most times they won't."i guess i've been noticing a problem, though: when i get it in good, i'm playing and losing a big pot if i take a beat, but if i'm gambling, i usually know it and if i'm in a marginal situation the downside isn't as big -
...and he doubles up the short stack with J10, then busts on the next hand with AJ vs 46s. youch.
-
he's in the top 3 as i post this, 2nd in chips. one short player's almost out.

ive played this more than a few times over the past year or so. my rule is to have at least $160 because of the volatility of playing with people who will call a $15 preflop raise with five deuce suited can hurt you over the short term, but long term you can make a reasonable profit. if you go broke or get below $20 you can reload up to $60. i've walked away from this game up over $300 within a few hours more than once and never dropped more than $100 in it. the players are truly awful. i actually find it's kind of pointless to play really aggressively since many of these players will call off

lol.still, nobody's explained why we're reading this again, save for dane is a 10-month statute of limitations grammar cop. good lord.

what's the buy in for this?

Boston Globe Story On Foxwoods Worker Walkout
DB10-2 replied to Shizzmoney's topic in General Poker Forum
you mean hollywood park's staff is on strike? -
it's ironic that the guy berating you, OwChS, was by far in the worst shape on the flop. with that knowledge, do you really care what he/she has to say? uconn's play makes moderate sense, as does yours, but the guy moving in with top and bottom pair when he's already beat--seemingly without thinking--is the real donk.hand over.
-
that promo video on cardplayer.com is about the dumbest thing i've ever seen.i loved the huff/sebok/gavin circuit; i don't know how long i'll stick with these new guys.
-
i dropped by hollywood park for a bit today as i had some time to kill, was in the neighborhood, and needed lunch. i played just $100NL since it was the fastest table i could get on. in the short span of the 90 mins. or so i played, i had my hand mucked by the dealer once even though i had it well behind the line and was actually in the process of putting chips into the pot. i was also dealt three cards once, which i found inexcusable--strangely, rather than declare a misdeal, they just killed my hand.the players there were nothing special, not extremely bad and not extremely great, but in gen
