i won the regular season in Yahoo #2, but i think by the end there were only like 5 people even trying.now it's the playoffs, and i just had to make the tough decision to dump zetterberg outright for...god, i forget who i picked up.ugh.

i didn't see that offered about this time last month when i was at paris. they just had a $65 NLHE one that moved pretty fast and was the usual donkament.

yeah, i folded JJ preflop after some very strange action in a home game last week and showed them to my friend next to me. he was visibly bothered. i said quietly, it's ok, that guy (other end of the table) is going to turn over two kings when this hand is over. i was right...

i'm bb with two aces in a deep stacked 1-2NL game at MGM. EP hayseed donk kid makes it $15 to go. aggressive asian kid who could really play paused and called. i repopped to $50 from the BB (in retrospect, this was not enough) and they both called, though again, the asian kid took a bit of time. he had us both covered.i knew the hayseed had JJ or QQ and the asian kid had suited connectors. not where i wanted to be.the flop was 8-9-10 rainbow. i checked in disgust, the hayseed bets like $50, the asian kid pops him to $150, and they get it all in eventually as i fold without thinking about it. h

This Is How To Flop The Nuts And Lose, Advice Needed Please
DB10-2 replied to gfdsa146's topic in General Poker Forum
exactly. with the way the villain played his hand, there's no reason you shouldn't have been able to get all of your money in on the flop. you made a weak looking bet of 200 and got the perfect outcome--a raise. after that, you have to punish the guy by reraising. -
also, the tropicana isnt bad. it's reasonably cheap, has a decent pool, a young crowd, etc. it's near MGM's room and has its own $200NL game that's usually pretty soft.

i used to think about it a bit. now i focus on how they play, not if they look poor or whether they're married or whatever. i'm there to size them up only as much as it takes to beat them, and as many have pointed out, if i don't, someone else will anyway.in 2004, i knew this lawyer who was going to be disbarred because he'd stolen from his clients in order to fuel his poker habit. he wasn't a bad player, but was obviously addicted and was loser over time. then within the last 6 months i saw him playing at the bike at a $40NL table. losing, no less. he was disbarred, had lost his home and fami

i was. yikes. by saturday night the cab drivers would only pick people up if they weren't black.
-
i'd second those comments on the caears staff not being the most friendly. it was enough for me to not want to play there.

lol.after 364 days, this deserves a bump.

don't forget to bathe, either.

Please Critique My 1-2 Nl Live Cash Game Play
DB10-2 replied to Willing 2 Die's topic in General Poker Forum
it's also important to watch for when a game changes. i sat into a really loose, awful $100NL game last week and knew that if the cards came i'd be up huge relatively quickly based upon how bad the players were. i was right--90 minutes later, i had over $300 in front of me by doing nothing but peddling the nuts and picking off idiotic, low-percentage bluffs. i've found similar games in vegas and told my gf that i really should play for a few hours because a particular game looked really good.however, as the fish went busto and left, better players arrived. i decided i'd made more than enough f -
nah. remember, over time flipping in holdem should be the same as flipping coins. the stakes don't matter if it all evens out in the end. the $3 or whatever rake per hand is the only real leak.

his experiences pretty well mirror mine when i play low limits in vegas. you basically have four categories of players to watch out for:1. drunk maniacs (they will give you their money, over time)2. bad tourists (they will never fold a pair or a draw, and again, will give you their money, over time)3. people who can play to some extent (local low limit pros, people visiting who play in home games--you have to be careful but usually they're not the greatest, either)4. real players (very, very rare)the secret really is just not being too tricky, waiting for big hands, and getting paid off. if yo

For The Vegas Locals--bally's This Weekend
DB10-2 replied to ilovejulie's topic in General Poker Forum
is there a room at bally's as well as the small one next door at paris? i played a few times at paris last month and thought that the tournaments were kind of stupid but that the $1-2 $300NL ring game was unbelievably soft at all hours. check out paris. -
also, was that sean avery the first guy all over simon in his face after the hit? say what you will about avery, but he's a little guy with a lot of heart.
-
seems about right to me. hollweg did hollywood it up a bit, and let's not forget it looked like boarding before simon retaliated. not that any of that justifies a two-hand chop to the chest or head.
-
wow. what the hell is wrong with those people?
-
seriously. why the uptight toolboxery?
-
i also hate having my money raked for a jackpot i'm unlikely to ever hit. the only good thing about it as far as i'm concerned is that the donks in SoCal cardrooms often chase or call preflop with losing cards just to maybe hit a jackpot hand on a later street. since the odds are pretty long, i can't complain about that.in other news, i watched a pretty bad player dust off about $800 in 90 minutes in a $2-$3 $100NL game last night at the bike. i got more than my fair share of it, too. god, it was beautiful.

sweet. thanks, dude.

i'm trying to transition from using a small pocket booklet to use of an excel spreadsheet to track my wins/losses. i play primarily live.if anyone has an excel template they can send me that would make this easier, that'd be great. i basically want to be able to sort by date, limit, results, notes, and location, and to be able to keep running totals and averages at the bottom. i'm ok at poker, but suck at excel, however, which is why i'm making this request. thanks in advance.

if you get unlucky or screw up and lose the first $100, can you rebuy and then win $200 in one day so as to net $100?
-
also, as a general rule when i was there people were pretty friggin' awful. good luck.
