yeah, but you know in six months he's going to be broke, fat, and/or dead under a bus somewhere. it's my theory that the same 20 high stakes pros pass the same $15,000,000 around in poker/golf/sports betting, with little chunks disappearing here and there to people like sbrugby only to be replenished when one of the pros scores a big tourney cash or win and infuses that back into the bigger online and live games. i'm not downing on sbrugby at all, just saying that this won't seem like news six months from now...

series tied as det. wins game 4. wow.
-
yeah, i wonder what the series score would be if detroit had not spotted SJ two goals in each of these games. weird stuff. thus far i think the thornton/cheechoo/michalek line is as dominant as any i've ever seen in a playoff series.

what were the drugs, exactly?
-
still down for me.

i saw that play and watched to see which pens defenseman blew coverage so badly. surprise, surprise, it was gonchar. he looked like a lost puppy on that play--just pathetic.i seriously think any halfassed defenseman in a beer league would have known to pick up alfredsson there.don't get me wrong, i think it would be good for hockey in the U.S. if pittsburgh could get deep, and god knows pens fans could use something positive (not that OTT fans couldn't) this postseason, but the pens just looked like **** in that game. if they don't turn it around fast, they're going to be out soon.
-
the ones he folded were really exciting.
-
pittsburgh just isn't playing the kind of hockey you need to win in the playoffs. they're running around, not playing sound defense, and fleury, while not bad, isn't standing on his head as he needs to since nobody's playing defense in front of him. they're all really just showing a lack of playoff experience.i hate to say it, but OTT in 6.
-
seriously, pittsburgh is embarrassing themselves right now. they're leaving fleury hung out to dry and look like they're playing pond hockey.or did, anyway, until the fight and the armstrong hit...

it's so obv. you were trashed when you started that thread. good times...

i'm actually embarrassed to say that i considered getting late-released tickets for the MN/AN game tonight, but the idea of watching the ducks play the wild was actually so boring to me that i decided against it. it'd cost probably $260 for 2 reaonable seats, plus parking, plus the drive down there, so...eh. what's sort of silly is that the ducks have quite a few stars on their team, and marian gaborik alone is worth the cost of watching minnesota, but i still just don't care enough.maybe if the ducks advance i'll go next round, depending on the opponent.

just post em on here, ron. nobody has anything to hide, right?

i think FWP is probably on day 3 of a 6-day bender, right now.which is amusing and fun to watch, even if he sucks at life to a very depressing degree.

what time do they start? i'm in!

in addition to the weakish preflop raise, the other marginal play in this hand was on the flop, when you tied yourself to the hand by overbetting the pot. a $45 or $50 bet would likely have gotten you the same information, and still allowed anyone with two spades or some smaller pair to draw incorrectly assuming most people fold. could you potentially have laid it down if you'd invested $57 into a ~$110 pot and had to call $155 more from the villain? my motto in loose LL cash games: don't go broke with one pair.
-
huh.your sharkscope numbers for stars and ft look a bit...troublesome, but i guess you concede that you're just getting started. gl.
-
good god. do $50NL games always play that bad? i have GOT to get in on that ****!was this full tilt?

Need Help With Sliding Points Scale For Sng Round Robin

and DNA, the problem with your points scale is that it incorporates buy-in dollars. there will technically be no value for buy-ins, since these are round robin format. -

no. otherwise the guy who finishes 4th twice has no motivation to play the last one. even if he wins, he's screwed.all places must receive points. -
Need Help With Sliding Points Scale For Sng Round Robin

a friend of mine runs a monthly home game here that's gotten pretty popular, and rather than the usual all-night tourney with rebuys he wants to try something new. so, instead of a prize pool awarding finishes at the final table, he proposes to invite 24 players, then run 3 8-handed SNGs in a round robin format over the course of the night, awarding points for order of finish. then, at the end, the prize pool will be divided based on a total points breakdown.however, he's not that great with math, and i'm not much better, but it seems to me he cannot award 1-8 points based on finishes or there -
Is This A Good Spot To Check Raise The Turn?
DB10-2 replied to DB10-2's topic in Other Poker Cash Games
again, i didn't play the hand. i thought the call on the flop was utter nonsense, but i got into an argument with the guy who did play the hand about check-raising the turn. i felt like it might be profitable in light of the big 2-way draws in a multiway pot (plus possible fold equity, etc.), but i have no hard math to back that up. -

i think the whole "parasite" argument is bunk. nobody forces people to dust off their life savings in poker. why is someone more skilled at a particular game a parasite when he wins over time? i think it's also kind of stupid--there are many jobs that, under this definition, could be considered parasitic. it could be argued that any pro athlete is also a parasite, for example, or artists, musicians, etc. i disagree that any of them are, however, since watching them do something extremely better than i can--be it playing cards, hockey, or the trumpet--is worthwhile to me and the rest of society
